    Too few calories?

Thanks for the advice. I am still losing albeit slowly (on the scale). I have lost inches, though so I look like I have lost more. I've noticed that I am able to build muscle nicely so I think I am getting adequate nutrition. I plan to just keep plugging away. I do listen to my body when it needs a break.
  2. I had RNY on Jan 8, 2014. I have lost about 42 pounds so far. I was not overweight until after I had a baby and my body went out of whack. Anyway, I have pretty good muscle memory and have always enjoyed exercising so it has been pretty easy to get active again. As a result, I exercise 6 days a week. I take a really hard HIIT class at the gym twice a week, Zumba twice a week, an hour of weight training 3 days a week and a self defense class once a week and Pilates 1-2 times a week. Now, my question. I calculated my BMR and TBEE and, while I expected to fall short, I am WAY under in my calorie intake. Today, I hit a wall and just felt tired all day. I listened to my body and took the day off. I use the MFP app to track and I am averaging about 900 calories a day. A lot of times, especially on days I go to the gym twice, my net cals are negative. I know that for bariatric patients, getting the calories we need is hard when doing more exercise. How far can I push it? There is no way I can get a min of 1500 for my activity level. How close is enough? Or do I need to cut back a little on the activity? Has anyone come up against this issue?
  3. I am 3 weeks post op for my gastric bypass. My surgery was on 1/8/14. I had a great experience, no adverse side effects at all (except soreness, of course!). I was off pain meds within a week and have felt so great I think to myself, "did I really just do that?" I primarily did the surgery because i am a diabetic with no complications. My mom is on dialysis and is blind from the disease and my sister (1 year younger than me) had a pacemaker at the age of 37 because of this dreadful disease. I am so pleased - i have not had any diabetic meds since i left the hospital and my sugars are perfect! I have lost 25 pounds already, even though I have not yet been cleared for normal activity by my surgeon (hopefully that will be this week). I am anxious to get on with my plan and move forward! I hope that those of you who are still in the process take heart that there are a lot of us who had a great, complication-free experience out here. I have found that with this surgery, as with pregnancy, people just feel the need to tell you every horror story they have ever heard. I'm not sure why that is...

    Almost a month post op

From what I understand, your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto weight for a little bit. This should pass. I had a 3 day period where I was the same weight each day but then started losing again. This is why it's important to exercise and get your protein. This tells your body that you need your muscles and that it needs to burn fat. It also tells your body that food is still coming. I read that your body has to switch to fat burning and not muscle-burning or starvation mode. Your body is just adjusting right now.
