Thanks, it just totally blows my mind how diff. docs have diff. views on the same exact surgery. Either we take the protein or we don't, ya know!!

Hello all-I was banded Aug.8,2007. I have lost 38.2 from surgery day. I was seeing one doc. & he had me taking 2 protein shakes a day & 2oz meals 3 x a day & no snacks. Now since he won't give me fills when I think I need them I am switching doc's & the new doc. said no protein. He says no protein shakes & 1 cup meals 3 x a day plus snacks.(That you should be able to get enough protein in your meals & that no shakes because they are liquid) I just had my 2nd fill this past Mon. & still feel no restriction.(therefore I've been eating full meals & hope I haven't gained) I just want to know what your docs have said about protein. Thanks!!

I was banded on Aug. 8th 2007 In Louisville at Suburban. I had Dr. David Geller. I thought he was a really good surgeon but I don't agree with his fills & all. (I don't think I get my fills when I need them, i just got my 2nd fill & have no restriction. I live in Elizabethtown & just found a doc. 2 miles from my house & I'm switching to this doc. for my fills & their support group meeting.

Really?? I never knew it took sooooo long for some. What kind of band do you have? I have the new LP large. Just wondering if that has anything to do with it. Also how much did they fill you each time.

I just had my 2nd fill & I'm not feeling any restriction this time, either. Anyone have any suggestions?

I only got 1 CC on my 1st fill too. ( ihave the new band) I had surgery on Aug. 8th-got my 1st fill on Sept. 20th & they won't refill me til Nov. 5th. & I have no restriction!! Can anyone say crazy??? I may find another doc!!

I was banded 4 weeks ago & have not had a fill, yet. I was wondering, how do you know if your port has flipped or if your band has slipped or any other problems like that. Will you be in pain just from a flipped port? I'm not even sure if I can feel my port, for sure. I do have some discomfort under my incision & around my belly button. Is that anything to worry about? It's not really pain but I am aware of it. I just feel like my body is getting used to something in it.I don't go see my doc. for 2 weeks yet. Thanks.

For the gas pain in the shoulder try putting your arms way up your head & wave them around. That helped me alot. I had my surgery Aug. 8th. I was sore for about a week. By day 7 I was starting to feel back to normal. Just make sure that you don't go doing anything you shouldn't be doing. My doc said no sweeping/mopping/laundry & anything where you are bending. I thought I could at week 2. But he said even though we may feel healed on the outside our ports still have to have time to set into the scar tissue. And nothing like situps or using your stomach muscles for 3 months. Good luck!!

Hey whos, does the swimming not pull on your stomach muscles? I was banded on Aug. 8th. My doc. said I couldn't do like sit ups or anything to do with my stomach muscles for like 3 months. I am 2 weeks now & I thought I could start back sweepng/mopping/laundry/vacuuming & he said not for 2 more weeks. He said that even though I make look healed on the outside that my port & band has to set in the scar tissue so as not to move around & then have problems. Course, I know every doc. is different.Right now all I can do is walk around my mall for 1 lap. But at least it's something. Good luck!!

I got mushies today-Yay-I had cream of wheat for breakfast, my banana flavored protein shake with skim milk & I am so excited to eat supper. My doc. said no eggs til week 5. I thought that was a mushy??

I meant sip from a spoon instead of drinking.
