    nani0602 got a reaction from hcabrooks197 in Progress ☺️
I just wanted to share my progress. I had RNY on May 19th, so not quite 3 months. I have lost 40 lbs thus far. It seems as if the weight loss has been slower than expected, but I have noticed a difference in how my clothes are fitting. I assumed my clothes would start looking better bc of the weight loss, but now have too much material in the waist area, making me look wider... I won't complain about this it gives me an excuse to go shopping. Unfortunately, my hair is changing for the worse. The texture is more straw-like, and it's noticeably falling out. At this point, I am taking Biotin, and looking into alternatives to cover this up while it re grows. Overall, I am very blessed to be able to tolerate almost every food I have tried post op. I still struggle with getting in all my proteins/fluids, but that will come
I just wanted to ask-- what are some examples of Vitamin regimens y'all do? I really feel like it must be a mental thing but I Cannot stand taking pills. I tried chewable gummies Vitamins and those were getting to me disgusting to me too..Id love some examples of how people space their meds/vitamins.
Here is a pic of my day of surgery, and of my current status.
    Thanks so much

Stalls early on are actually really common! Even at 2 or 3 weeks out. Additionally dependent on your treatment you may have been pumped with quite a bit of IV fluids. At times is might be very difficult to pinpoint the source of a stall but I've read that changing up the routine can help.
    For example
    - if you don't exercise, start doing a little.
    - if you are at the puree stage and have say mash potatoes try cutting the carbs and increasing the Protein
    - try to up your Water intake
    - take your Multivitamins
    - don't weigh yourself everyday
    - relax and trust the process because unless you are purposefully sabotaging yourself then the weight is bound to come off...
    - watch your sodium intake (no more than 4g or 1600mg a day) this can make you retain Fluid
I don't know how useful what I posted is, but hopefully you get the idea
    Good Luck!
    Phil

My surgery was Monday, 19-May and came home Wednesday. I think today or yesterday was the first day sans-Gas-X, so that's good. My first BM was Friday, but I haven't had even a semi-solid one since maybe the Thursday before the surgery.
I'm still taking the pain meds, but feel I'm needing them less. My biggest issue is on my left side. Of my 7 incisions, that one is the biggest with four staples. I can't even lay on my left side yet, and if I have pain, 99% that's the origin, then radiating from there.
Saturday, I felt okay and proceeded to build two Cornhole boards all the way up to priming them. I fully intended to paint Sunday, but as it turned out, I didn't feel like doing ANYTHING Sunday. Yesterday, I started out that way too, but basically forced myself to get up and do stuff. I think it had to do with my Breakfast both days; Cream of Wheat.
My doc has me on "Full Liquids" from the day I got home, which includes CoW. I picked some up on Saturday, and ate it on both Sunday and Monday. Today, I just did a shake, and figured if it's going to make we want to sleep, I'll just have it for dinner instead!
I'm sleeping pretty well overall. A couple of days I slept all propped up like in the hospital, but ultimately found that sleeping regular (on my RIGHT side) was more restful.
I picked up some low-sugar Greek yogurts yesterday, and that's helped expand my diet nicely.
    So far, so good!

nani0602 got a reaction from butter73 in One-week post op
I am one week post op, and still am experiencing this occasional but Severe burning/stinging pain. It just spreads throughout my whole abdomen and I literally have to "run" to the nearest bed or recliner chair so I can feel instant relief. I ordered an abdominal binder through Amazon, free two-day shipping, but sadly bc of the holiday weekend I won't get it till Tuesday or Wednesday.
I'm also starting to get worried that I may be developing a hematoma, and I am wondering if this is why I'm experiencing this pain. Above my left main incision I noticed a bump that I didn't seem to notice before. I have been icing it and will call my surgeon tomorrow.
Despite these setbacks, I am enjoying the small successes:
-Losing 14 lbs since Surgery last Monday
-increasing my Water and Protein intake a little more everyday
    -having a BM yesterday
-the fact that I've had no trouble sleeping/resting at night
-being able to tolerate all the liquids and puréed foods I've had so far.
These experiences that we are all going through are highly personal. I think we all have our ups and downs to how our body's react post-operatively. For that, I will be happy for the things that have gone "right" this past week as opposed to dwelling on the negatives.
This online community it such a huge support, and is loaded with so much information and guidance
I wish you all a Happy Memorial Day

    Thank you
I called the nurse and she got back to me right away. She said that the fold is very common and it almost looks like a "second navel".
She said that it flatten out, and as angel face (thank youuu!!) suggested, she recommends getting an abdominal binder for extra support to relieve some of that pressure.
She also said that crying is normal bc there a lot of shifts in hormones (I'm kinda already a cry baby lol)
I feel so relieved now, and am so thankful for this site with people who have or are experiencing similar things... It is just wonderful!!

    Hi everyone!
My name is Natalie. I will be having gastric bypass on Monday, May 19th. I will post a pre-operative picture to this thread. I can't believe how fast my pre-op time has gone! In December 2013, I attended an informational seminar with my sister to learn more if I would be a candidate for weight loss surgery. My insurance required a total of 4 pre-operative visits. Being a full time nursing, the time has just flown by

. Suddenly, it is the month of surgery and I am feeling a mix of emotions. I am beginning to feel nervous due to never having any prior surgeries or hospitalization, however even more excited in thinking of all the opportunities that could open up for me... In my very near future!
I just wanted to introduce myself to the community, as I would like to share my journey, positives and negatives, with others! (Hopefully, the majority of it being positive).
Do any of you have any suggestions for final preparations? In some threads, I have seen people purchase smaller spoons and plates.. Does anyone have any other ideas that I could consider?
Well, hello again. I look forward to talking with you
