When did you try salad?
Queenfreak replied to Sleeveless in seattle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started eating salad after three months and I'm fine. I enjoy it so much but have to realize I can't eat as much as I used to. I add lemon and olive oil with seasonings. -
Do they not make dresses with long sleeves anymore?
Queenfreak replied to CrazyJaney's topic in Rants & Raves
I hate that they dont have at least 3/4 sleeve. But what drives me crazy is the gigantic arm holes. I mean really? The arm hole is so out of proportion compared to rest of dress. They do this on sleeveless shirts also. Annoying! -
That was so nice of him to do that for you It really helps when your family supports. I cant imagine getting through this without their support.

I wish all of you good luck. Everyone says how happy they are for having the surgery. But dont think this happens right away. It took me three months to even think maybe it was s good idea. But know for sure one thing. You will feel so much better getting around and you wont feel so out of place in public places. My joints feel so much better and the other exciting thing is i dont wear a wide shoe anymore. Bad thing is i am a shoe whore. Lol

Fear that I won't lose weight...
Queenfreak replied to rmoisson's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was at such a standstill and thought i would never lose any weight. Everyone was saying how big their clothes were getting and i was stalled. Then all of a sudden i started losing. What a great feeling. Hang in there.... it will happen. I didnt believe it either. Oh and my stomach growls all the time. Couldnt wait to get past protein shakes. Good Luck -
Why have i stopped lossing?
Queenfreak replied to melissabeauty's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Same thing happened to me. I lost 30 pounds then when I started eating I stalled. For three weeks!!!! Now I'm loosing again slowly. I was told this is not a race but a journey. Hang in there. It will happen. -
Besides being tired it is so hard to figure out what to eat everyday. If you can, take as long as they will allow you.The first three months are the hardest. Good Luck

3 months RNY post-op eating challenged????
Queenfreak replied to DelayedGratification's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three months out and had a hard time eating anything solid. I decided to start watching the food shows to at least wish for something. It kind of worked. I had been pushing my feeling for food down so long I didn't want to eat. I started by eating smart ones. Half at first now I can eat the whole thing. They are not bad and helped me get over the fear of eating. -
I'm going through the same thing. I'm not loosing but everyone is saying his different I look. I'm plugging along hoping to see scale move.

Today was my first post- up from surgery 12 days ago. I still can not walk or stand for long. No pain just winded every time I try walk, I can't even stand to take a shower or even brush my teeth. The Doctor sent me straight to the ER. I had a Cat Scan and X-ray. All good. No blood clots. All good, but why am I soooo out of breath? They gave no answers. I have a follow up appointment with my Dr. at end of week. Anyone have this happen to them?

Hard time walking
Queenfreak replied to Queenfreak's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thx! No more meds for me?. I stopped them first week. I'm thinking I'm not getting enough protein Keep you posted after this week. -
Thanks I have bloodwork tomorrow and family doctor appt this week.Maybe that will shed some light on it. My sister thinks I may not be eating enough . I think she may be right. Still feeling my way around

I'm 19 days out and still have a hard time with stairs and taking showers. I get so winded and weak I have to sit and wait for it to pass. My doctor checked me to be sure I don't have a blood clot. X-ray And cat scan. They said no problems. Ok, now what? Is this normal?

I am petrified of dumping. Now what are the "rules" . I read so many conflicting stories. Is it no more the 20 grams of fat per meal. Or no more then 20 grams of sugar per meal. Or if it is 10 of fat you can't have any more the 10 for sugar? Ahhhhhh I'm obsessing.

Good luck with your surgery and know your mother is giving you the strength you need to get through. My prayer and positive thoughts go out to the both of you.
-
I heard other people say that too! It's a urban legend to keep you from eating the wrong thing. Ugh thanks so much!

I agree with everything you said. I watched that show the other night and thought that could be me. My knee surgery was unsuccessful and I can't walk without a cane it is so painful. If I didn't get surgery next year I would have gained another 60 pounds. I look at it this way. Food in one hand and my life in the other. I choose my life. I became a grandmother for the first time 2 1/2 months ago and I want to enjoy him. I don't want to be the heavy lady on the bench holding her cane while everyone else has fun.

anyone regret having WLS?
Queenfreak replied to Tizzielish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought about surgery for many years. Yes, no, yes, no Then one day out of the blue I woke up with a feeling of calmness. Yes, today I will call to get the ball rolling. This is something I had to do. No other way. I had my Thyroid destroyed due to Graves Disease and hurt my knee at work. I gained so much weight after my injury I had no where to turn. I couldn't do it myself. Even the Doctor said conventional diets won't work for me. And they didnt. If they work for you don't do it. At least once in awhile you can have a favorite meal. If you don't feel at peace about it don't do it. But make a decision. In or out. Don't let this suck the life out of you. Good Luck with your decision. -
anyone have their ins pay for tummy tuck due to it being "medically necessary"?
Queenfreak replied to GENNYOSKINNY's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had read if you get a hernia or other medical issues, once they have you in the OR they can also remove your skin for a lower price. In other words, you are already in there. I also read after surgery your insurance will pay for one part of the body. I wish I knew where I saw this to back it up. -
New ways to spend time
Queenfreak replied to Getting-used-to-new-me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still recovering but I'm wondering the same thing. My BFF bought me a Nook and her card said its better then potatoe chips and pretzels. Hummmm I'll let you know. -
I'm 9 days post and made the most wonderful thing today. It may sound like no big deal but I am all protien drink out. I cracked a egg in a French onion soup bowl added, a sprinkle of unflavored protien, a tablespoon of lactose non fat milk, a dash of Vanilla Extract, and a pinch of salt and pepper. I whipped it with a fork till smooth. Put it in the microwave for one minute. I only ate alittle more then a quarter since I became full. I'm saving the rest for tomorrow.

I'm so sorry. I had a lot of things happen to me last year that were really crazy. Accident, two knee surgeries , two hand surgeries and neck epidural. Then my daughter suffered a concussion. The only thing that made me feel better was to eat and drink. Maybe that's why ( besides the job/ accident) because we turned to food for comfort and now that is gone. Easy to say but reach out to friends and family for support. Lots of luck.
