FIRST FILL
Seems like most doctors do 6 weeks out. I'm lucky and get 5 weeks post op next wednesday. Everyone assured me fills are a breeze. My first is under fluoroscopy so they can check how everything is moving.

1 month post op
So, I've officially been banded 4 weeks! I'm down 32 pounds and feeling great. I'm eating smaller portions, Protein first, then veggies, never room for starches. Lifting weights 4-5x a week, cardio 2-3x a week. I can't stress how happy I am about the decision I made. Not only with wls in general, but deciding on the band. I have my first fill next wednesday, and I'm hoping if I can get close to my morning band, where I'm tight, but can still eat solid foods, I'd be in my green zone. I have trouble staying full for over an hour or two after lunch and dinner, but Breakfast keeps me full for 3-4 hours. I got a little caught up in some emotions and my 3 week stall, but I looked in the mirror this morning, and I wasn't disgusted at what I saw. At 303 I felt like I was busting at the seams, like if I gained one more pound, I'd pop like a balloon. I couldnt even bend over to tie my shoes. I didn't have any co-morbities, but at 26, my life was miserable, and it took a toll on my relationship because I didn't understand how my fiance could even stand the sight of me, because I couldn't even look at myself in the mirror. Now, pants and already starting to fall off and belts are getting moved more than one hole tighter. Workouts are getting easier, and taking the stairs is no big deal now, unless its the day after leg day . Im SO happy I found this site. I've learned so much from other peoples experiences!

Side Effects!
BIOTIN! Or hair, Skin, and Nails. YOu can get it at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe (or drug stores) and they're pretty cheap. I cant keep my nails SHORT enough anymore, I've been taking it for 6 weeks.

first fill next week!
so, i'm sitting here working on month-end stuff and i look at the calendar and it hits me, my first fill is NEXT WEDNESDAY! my NP was happy to schedule my first fill at 5 weeks post-op, versus 6 weeks, which i'm so grateful for! i've been eating 1/2 to 3/4 of food, and it really isn't holding me over. even my morning meals aren't holding me as long. as excited as i am, this was the part of lap-band surgery that i feared THE MOST! going into surgery, i knew the worst part was going to be the IV, yeah i had some port pain/soreness afterward, but i've read some of these stories where the doctor can't find the port and it scares the s*** out of me to get stuck by a needle multiple times! i absolutely HATE needles, someone PLEASE reassure me that these fills aren't as bad as i'm making it to be!

6 days post op
congrats! i loved the feeling of putting on jeans, fresh out of the dryer, on and still having some room. i cant remember the last time i didnt have to jump, tug, and squat to get a pair of jeans out of the dryer to fit comfortably. i'm only 4 weeks post op, so i can relate. being moved to soft foods was the best day ever! haha

Surgery 05/08/14 & Still port pain
hey band buddy! i was banded the same day as you! i still have some discomfort bending over and when i lay on my stomach to go to sleep. i have been fully lifting weights for a week, i got the clear from my NP, so that makes it sore some days too. my NP told me ibuprofen pm would help with the soreness while i sleep. i walk every day at lunch time and bending over to tie my shoe, its still sore.

How/Why did you choose Lap Band?
be ready for the lap-band haters to come chime in. my first surgeon, after a 12 month insurance process, refused to give me the lap-band, because i was 'too big'. 5 lbs over his lap-band limit. he said i wouldnt be successful. i left the office crying that day, thinking maybe he was right. i met with another surgeon in his office that afternoon and he assured me, i would be successful if i wanted to be. they're all just a tool. you might lose a ton of weight easily with the sleeve or bypass, but you still have to work to keep it off. i know 3 different women, with 3 different surgeries. They ALL struggle to maintain the weight they kept off. I watch the woman with bypass eat candy, cake and Cookies and go up and down with her weight all the time. The woman with the sleeve, had awful hair loss, because she doesnt eat her Protein and Snacks on candy and chips all day. The woman with the lap-band goes out to eat for lunch at burger king every day and cant figure out why she cant keep the weight off. It just goes to show, no surgery is the end all be all to weight losss. You have to work for it. I'm almost 4 weeks post-op with the band. I've lost 31 lbs since the pre-op diet and I'm down a size in my clothes. I already feel a lot better. do your research and find the surgery YOU are most comfortable with. everyone can give you your success stories and horror stories they've heard from people, but at the end of the day, you have to make a decision you'll be happy with.

Getting Started
I attended a WLS Seminar hosted by the surgeons hospital. They go over all 3 surgeries, then from there, had a meeting with my doctors nurse practitioner.

Now what, looking for non-sugar coated truth!
I'm no where near this, but I can understand your fear. I'm either all or nothing, so I would be afraid cutting some slack would make me re-gain all the weight. But I think tmf 's plan sounds good, add a few things here and there. Oh what it would feel like to NOT want to lose weight!! Do you think your body will level out on its own? Or do you think its wants to be way smaller than you want to be?

Banded Today!
I was taking percocet in pill form the day after surgery, and was able to take tylenol in pill form, as well. just ask your doctor to be sure, they know better than anyone here.

Who can relate?
I schedule my appts earlier, so I dont have to eat before them. And always a lightweight dress, NO JEANS! hahah so funny we all do this. Sometimes i breath out, too. hahaha

Tomorrow is the day!
@@LoseIt4Ever you'll do great! i'm about 3 weeks post-op, so i was in your shoes only a few weeks ago. i'm SO happy with my decision. yes, its changed my relationship with food forever, but food and i had a very abusive relationship in the first place. you'll do great, keep a positive attitude and you can do whatever you want!

lower carb brownie dessert
so, other than sf popsicles, fudgesicles, and sf pudding, i havent really had anything sweet for awhile, even pre-op. i try not to have these every night, or even a few times a week, because they do trigger my sweet tooth. well, it was my T.O.M. (sorry men), and i was CRAVING something sweet and chocolaty, and i knew these wouldn't hit the spot, so i made up a recipe that was AMAZING, plus it had 10 g of protein. again, this isn't something i will eat every night or even every week, because it triggered my sweet tooth, but i had a very low carb day and just went with it: 1/2 quest bar brownie 2 T of nonfat cool whip drizzle of SF caramel I cut the quest bar in half and stuck it in the toaster oven at 375* for about 3-4 mins, until it was warm and soft. Took it out and topped it with about 2 T of cool whip and just a drizzle of sf caramel syrup (by smuckers). I cant even tell you how amazing this was. I knew i was satisfied with what i ate, but my inner fat kid wanted me to make 3 more! If you have a hard time controlling your sweet tooth, this might not be the dessert for you, but if you REALLY want a treat, i def recommend this! approx nutrition: 125 CALS, 21 CARBS (11 NET CARBS), 3 FAT, 10 PROTEIN.
