  1. Felt good today. Pre op diet and all
  2. yum! i need to stop reading recipes while on pre-op! haha i always do the second version, and have done the first version as well. both are so good! i'm thinking i might make kale chips since my doc said i can have unlimited veggies. i'm craving some chips, so that will trick my brain a little bit!
  3. Vitamin shoppe and GNC both sell them. you can also buy them online through https://www.questproteinbar.com/ thats usually where i buy mine in bulk.
  4. i'm still pre-surgery, but ive been told to eat 4 oz of Protein, then anything else. if you stomach holds 4-6 oz, should you be able to get a serving of protein in every meal?
  5. hmmm interesting. i can get down with some nuts and cheese. hahah
  6. What is fat-fasting?
  7. I have Anthem BCBS as a state employee of VA. I had to do 12 months of monthly phone calls with a 'health coach' where we would make monthly 'goals' to get me ready for surgery. It was BS, but i stuck with it to get insurance to cover it. I dont wish that requirement on ANYBODY. it was a LONG year, but I'm now 6 days out from being banded During my initial seminar they asked me to list all of my diets attempts, how much i lost, and how much i gained back, so i documented all my atkins, south beach, ww, low cal, calorie counting. ( I honestly think this is something SUPER serious, its just to make sure youve made attempts in the past to lose weight) They also require a history of weight from my PCP, which is just when i would go in with a cold and they weighed me. They asked for 5 years, I had only been going to the doctor for 3, and i was approved anyway.
  8. you got this! you have to make this all about you. I, personally am taking a year to be selfish, and solely focus on myself. i have pushed back any wedding plans and everything else so that i can be the best me possible in the future. when i decided to get the band, i knew i was going to have to change my emotional relationship with food. it needed to be one thing from now on, energy. not a friend to lean on after a bad day. or a treat for something done right. i think that most of us have that problem, and we really need to focus on using food the way it needs to be used, and thats as nutrition and energy only.
  9. @@lovingm33 yep! tons of tests, but its all worth it. hopefully you'll hear something soon! @@bobomarge TOMORROW! ARE YOU EXCITED?!?!
  10. I agree! The rain here in VA has been the pits this week! I thought we were going to get it again this evening but we didn't. It got so dark so fast! Glad it's over. I have been watching the weather for next week after my surgery and I am thinking some R&R in the sun is coming up! Yes. We'll be able to get out and stretch our legs, walk out some GAS, in good weather! That rain was terrible! Where in VA are you located? NOVA? Hampton Roads? Central? @@chiaapet Congrats!! have you started pre-op yet?
  11. Your hormones might be out of whack. I heard they can go a little crazy after surgery, so maybe they're a little stronger and causing your symptoms to be worse?
  12. WOW! awesome! keep it up!
  13. @@bobomarge thank you! feeling a little better after some pamprin! no real appetite right now, though.
  14. Have you talked to your doctor about this? I can imagine this may be a serious issue!

  16. sooooo, one thing I didn't think about when I started the pre-op diet: pms. today is miserable, and I gained a pound, which I think is from bloat, because I def haven't had enough food to gain. hoping these cramps and cravings will go away; those symptoms, plus a rainy day here in VA is making this day no fun, so far.
  17. don't be nervous! you got this! I have 2. Days left and feel the same way you do

I'm getting banded next Thursday, and it drives me crazy when my MIL (sleeved) says things like "welp, you wont be able to do THAT after surgery" even though I watch her snack constantly on the wrong foods, eat too large of portions, drink and eat at the same time, etc. I almost wish I hadn't told anyone, even people with WLS (I know 4), because even though its nice to 'learn' from their mistakes, I want to get all I can out of this without people say "say goodbye to THAT" or "no more of THIS!"
  19. I haven't been banded yet, but this currently happens to me if I have something tomato based for dinner, or ice cream for dessert. The only thing I find that helps it is drinking baking soda mixed with Water. Not the best tasting thing, but it works. And there's nothing worse than being woken up in the middle of the night choking on stomach acid. Ugh!
  20. Can you have chicken broth? Or maybe a pickle? I eat 1-2 pickles a day to curb my salty tooth!
  21. mmm.. i'm on pre-op now (2 shakes + 4 oz of protein) and now all I can think of is egg foo young post op.. hahah
  22. I think the pre-op diet is a really good indicator of how ready we actually are for the surgery. I know cheating isn't an option, just as I know that after getting banded, some things I'm putting restrictions on like white, starchy carbs and too much added sugar. Go into with this positive attitude and I think that will make all the difference. I've been positive during mine, and I only suffered with some head hunger on day 2. Now, if I think I'm starting to get hungry, I'll drink 20 oz of Water or go for a walk. Head hunger isn't going to go away once we're banded, so we need to make positive changes in our habits. Stay positive! The moment you think "this pre-op diet SUCKS" or "theres NO WAY I can do this without cheating" you've let your old, overweight self win.
  23. congrats. cant wait to have nsv's like this!
  24. day 5 of pre-op diet. 7 lbs down and feeling good. I find that If I keep my mind occupied, I don't really get hungry, so yesterday I went on a 3 mile trail hike. Hope everyone else is doing good on their pre-op diet! 10 more days until I'm banded!!!
  25. do you have to use this shake? I have quite a few options to choose from when it comes to shakes. Day 4 liver shrinking diet. Finally getting used to the hunger. Lost 6 lbs already!
