Sometimes it takes a second for your body to catch up. Our bodies don't read our minds or our intentions. They react on facts, and to your body..your eating less and burning more and it probably thinks it's in danger so it's holding onto ever reserve it has...give it a few days and you will see the pounds will fall away.

thanks @lisacaron .. i know the logical part of it.. just sometimes the emotional needs to catch up. i havent had many 'bad days' since surgery, but today i just feel so negative.

  2. Ok, so I thought I was out of the port soreness phase, but, after a fill wednesday, then I grabbed a load of laundry in the bathroom monday night, I could barely workout yesterday because my port was SO sore. The few days after surgery, this was my biggest complaint. I was verrrry sore on my port side and getting in and out of bed and off the couch was a struggle day 1-3. The soreness went away completely at about 4 weeks out, but bumping it every once in awhile would shoot a twinge to the area. I got so nervous while working out last night, I stopped lifting (which I was cleared to do at 3 weeks) and just did cardio. Afterwards, I started to panic, thinking i ripped my port from my stomach wall, but felt my port and it didnt feel like it had shifted. I iced it, took some ibuprofen PM for the inflamation (ok'ed by my NP earlier on) and went to sleep. I woke up feeling 10x better today, but its still a little sore to bend over and stuff like that. So, I guess my question for banders further out, do you ever hit your port area the wrong way and it gets really sore? Do you ever worry about ripping your port from your stomach? I would have assumed at almost 6 weeks post-op, I would have been completely healed and have no pain.

    Pre-op confused!

Your pre-op diet sounds like mine did. 2 shakes then 4 oz of meat plus veggies. I did turkey burgers, chicken, turkey loin, tuna.. salads, roasted veggies, raw veggies. There are so many different combos.

    cc's in band

Hmmm.. weird. I have 4.4cc's and i'm hungry in the morning. But 1 egg, sometimes a lil smokey or some crumbled sausage usually keep me until about 12-12:30 (thats eating around 8ish) I feel like I have a pretty good restriction already. I've always been hungry in the morning tho?

    Insurance Authorization

Haha it took a lot of patience. Luckily it wasn't a supervised diet or anything, it was just monthly phone calls with a health coach. 12 very long months of phone calls! 12 months? I'd have gone out of my ever loving mind! I thought five, start to finish was bad. I admire your fortitude!

    Insurance Authorization

Mine was 12 months, so maybe you can look on the bright side and appreciate that it could be twice as long? haha its all worth it. 3-6 months supervised seems to be the norm around here.

I was a total coke-a-holic...probably went thru 2-2 liter bottles a day... loved the stuff... it was my "drug" of choice... since I have purged...the whole pre op/post op liquid diet, I have not wanted to go back because I know how bad it is for me... I have my decaf tea, and use Toscani syrups to make up blends...cheaper than Mio

The only thing I can say is that the carbonation is a killer for me. The "gas" bubble hurts and why stretch out that pouch with bubbles..rather eat my meal :) Champagne toast at a wedding not thinking about the bubbles and OUCH that was NOT fun.

You could always get the "sods stream" diet cola syrup...but only mix it with plain water as apposed to carbonating it.

Mine was no eating 4 hrs prior.. just clear liquids.

    May lap-band

congrats @@cadu and everyone else! i had my first fill last wednesday, and i'm not sure if its because i'm sick or not (cold), but my band has been pretty tight, could also be swelling still, too. i'm wondering if i'm already really close to green, bc 1/2-3/4 C of food is holding me 4ish hours. my doctor drained my whole band with anything that it might have been primed with, and put in a total of 4.4cc's.
  17. I didnt have the bad gas pains. But pains meds didnt touch the extreme soreness I had from the port being stitched to my stomach (could have something to do with the hernia repair too). Getting in and out of bed/the chair the first day made me cry. It obviously subsided more and more each day, but it was still miserable day 1-4. I was still so excited throughout all this, that it barely phased me!

    Mashed potatoes?

You got this girl! This band takes a lot of work and you learn something new every day!
  19. betty_s

    Mashed potatoes?

I got the clear from my NP about a week out for things like mashed potatoes. I stayed away from them and made pureed cauliflower, instead, but yeah, once i was moved to my soft food stage, thats when mashed potatoes were ok. Are you post-op? Bc my doctor gave me a list of OK foods at each step in the process.

    First fill.... 4th week

I'm not sure how much from surgery, but she took everything out, then put a total of 4.4 cc's in at my fill. What about you?
