Kathy, I am drinking those protein shakes too and I agree; they taste awful. Try putting a drop or 2 of vanilla or almond extract. They are bearable that way. I too am self-pay and it better be worth it. Hang in there. We can do it. Clara

I am on total liquids for 2 weeks. I am on my second day. I am hungry, have a headache and crabby!! I can have yoguart, sugar free jello and those powder protein mixes. I found out to make those drinks taste better, use skim milk and not water. Also put a drop or 2 of vanilla. Also, I can have tomato soup. Cannot go over 1,000 calories.

Thanks for answering!!! I am really impressed with your success. So far, I am doing ok on the liquids; hungry some, but not too bad. Congrats on your success. I am hoping the same for myself!!!!

I am scared to death of this new way of life I am trying to achieve. I am diabetic and I still do not have good info on the liquid diet. I have to have something to prevent low blood sugars. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

My name is Clara and I am scheduled to be banded on Aug.27th with Dr. Bryce in Rockwall, Tx.

I had 2 cups of coffee and 1 glass of orange juice for breakfast; lunch was one of those powder protien drinks. I mixed with water, next time I will use skim milk. I had a yogart for afternoon snack and tomatoe soup for dinner. Gosh I am hungry!!! But I must do this and I will.

I would love to join the August group, but I do not know how to join your group. My date is August 27th. Let me know how to find the group and I will be there, hungry, but I will be there.

My insurance(same as yours) will not pay unless I have 6 months of history of going to the dr for weight counceling. My dr. has been harping at me for 25 years, but not good enough for ins.co. I am on disability now and on Sept. 1, I will be on medicare. That is why I wanted the ins. to pay because medicare will not. Ins. knows this and that is why they denied me. Oh, well, I want to live a long time, so we are coughing up the money ourselves. It is a shame with the high premiums we pay for our insurance. Keep trying with the insurance co. and good luck.

Tomorrow I start my liquids. I am so anxious and scared. I feel like I am going to bury my best friend tomorrow----food. Wish me luck. My date for surgery is the 27th of August. Hello. Good to meet you. My name is Clara. I am 58 years old and live in Texas. I will be banded on August 27th and like you, I am neverous and scared. I have a ton of weight to loose. I started my liquid diet today and already I am a raving crazy woman. My poor husband. Keep me posted.

My date to be banded is the 27th of August. I start my liquids tomorrow, the 13th. Is it common to be on liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I am diabetic and have arthuritus. I have had knee replacement about 4 years ago and the knee still hurts. I had hip replacement in Dec. 2005. I developed one of those antibotic resistant infections(MRSA). To make a long story short, that hip had to be replace twice after the first surgery due to the infection. Needless to say, I still have hip pain, along with the knee pain. So, I have alot at stake here. Plus, we are having to cough up the money ourselves. I am afraid of this not being successful. However, all the post here, most everyone has been very successful. So, tomorrow, it is liquids for 2 weeks. Any advise would be appreciated, as well as support. Clara
