Any advice would be great, I am so nervous but ready to start living my life. I am a single mom of a 4 yr old and don't know how this will affect our lives and I think that's what worries me the most.

I am in TJ now and headed home today. My surgery was Friday 1/31 with Dr Elias Ortiz. I am very pleased with him, his staff, the hospital, etc
I had no complications. Only pain I felt wS from the CO2 that is put into the abdomen for laparoscopic surgery. It is normal, pain in left shoulder area.
I came alone, also. Have no fear, you will be well taken care of. Unlike hospital stays in the states, I never had to ask for pain meds. The nurses came in on schedule delivering anti nausea, antibx, and pain meds (non narcotic) round the clock.
The hospital is small but clean and has everything necessary. ALM also pays for their own private nurse to be at the hospital for night shift to oversee Dr Ortiz' patients. This is in addition to the hospital paid nurses.
    My best to you!

I had my surgery in the states as my insurance paid for it. One of my friends did not have insurance that would cover he rsurgery,so she went to Dr Aceves in Mexicali. She did wonderfully. She and I are both RN's and her opinion of the hospital was top notch. Much cleaner than US hospitals. They gave her all her records and 2 days after surgery she was walking, and feeling great. I am very impressed with her care and her comfort level. She seemed to recover much faster than I did.

I also had a great experience with Dr. Ortiz. I am in the hotel on the first of two nights and am feeling great with only a tiny bit of numbness in my butt. Apparently this is normal, his team and the nurses at the hospital are awesome! Some advice though is to bring with you some thick tape for gauze. When they give you tape for your gauze when you leave, it is super thin and you have to use a ton of it to secure your bandages when you change them yourself at the hotel. They use thicker stuff at the hospital and it seems to work way better.
Abraham and Eduardo are awesome and super helpful, if you guys have any more questions let me know. Good luck everyone!!
