  1. Today is August 14, 2007, two days away from my banding surgery.
    I am 65 years old, and have a bmi of 35.5, and have weighed as much as 225 pounds.
    I first started looking into lap band surgery a few years ago when I had BC/BS insurance. My policy would not cover the surgery. I had to wait until I was 65 and had Medicare. I turned 65 in March of this year, and then had to search the web until I found a surgeon that would accept Medicare.I found Dr. Michel Williams in Alpharetta . I first had an appt on June 1, but was denied surgery because I lost enough weight that my bmi was below 35. The next thing that happened must only be classifed as a GOD SPEAk moment. I went to another doctor for a sore thumb (more later)
