    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

WLS date 12/5/13 Pre surgery weight 235 Current weight 185 Down 4 sizes in my clothes All has been going well and I'm down 50 lbs. Only issue is eating out and remember to eat slow with little liquids, if not I get that sick feeling. Starting to ramp up exercise and hired a trainer for 3 months, really enjoy everything I want but no junk, no soda, no red meat and alcohol. I really don't have the desire to have the things I'm not eating anymore. It's great to finally feel comfortable in my own skin (proud of the lady in the mirror) and feel more confident. I have a wonderful support system my husband had bypass 7 yrs ago and my 2 sisters had WLS within the past 3 yrs. feeling positive:)

If I drink too much liquid with my meal.., yes! I have to slowly sip water with meals unless I feel sick

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

The milk sounds like a great idea. I should mention, I go to bed around 9, and worry about heartburn if I eat too late.I sometimes I get hunger late at night but I go back to sleep.., I Figure a little hunger pains won't hurt me and the hurt burn would be worse than the hunger pains

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I found a link to Boston's Brigham & Women Hospital gastric dietary post plan...I thought for those without A NUT it would be helpful. ..http://www.brighamandwomens.org/Departments_and_Services/surgery/services/generalsurg/WeightLossSurgery/PostOpSleeveGastrectomyDiet.pdf

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

For those you without a NUT if you search the web I found some great info on the boston Brigham and Women Hospital website. Granted it's a guide and finding your Nut would be more ideal but if that's not an option check this link out... http://www.brighamandwomens.org/Departments_and_Services/surgery/services/generalsurg/WeightLossSurgery/PostOpSleeveGastrectomyDiet.pdf
  8. I see the newbies often like to see picture updates do I added a pre- op picture when I was at 235 lbs and my current post op weight if 195lbs. My surgery was dec 5th. There's lots I have lost but I would like to say that I have loved gaining the ability to put my sneakers on with ease, I loved getting on a plane recently and having plenty of room to buckle my seatbelt and not feeling soo tight in my seat, I love feeling satisfied with soo little food, enjoying dinner out due to the great conversation and not going home with guilt due to eating too much. I still have a lot to lose but I'm headed in the right direction. Feeling proud and happy today:)

    Another stall...ugh

Are drinking enough water? I find if I'm not drinking enough water it shows on the scale. Have you find something fun to do for exercise..sometimes mixing up your exercise routine helps... You will get there. Stay positive
  12. I went back 9 days after surgery and felt great. I actually went in 2 job interviews 5 days after surgery. Everyone is different, I have heard some people need 3 weeks and some people need 5 days. I filled out my FMLA paper work in case I needed to be out longer.

    Dry heaves? Vomiting?

I had my sleeve and I have not gotten sick at all. I sometimes feel a tightness in my chest and to me that's my warning signing to stop eating or drinking. I don't dare push it since the frothing and vomiting stories scared me too.
  14. Highest Weight 235 Pre-op weight 220 Current weight 195 I'm down 3 pant sizes:) Surgery Dec 5, 2013 I just started mushy foods last Friday and it feels great to actually chew! Doing great getting Water and liquids in but struggling to get the 80 grams of Protein in. Trying to add unflavored Protein powder to my foods and drinks. Feel great! I feel like my energy level is higher, I'm gaining confidence, just got an amazing job offer at my dream company so I can leave my super stressful current job, I love being able to exercise without pain, put my shoes on easier, I had serious knee issues and the 40 lbs I lost has greatly lessened my knee pain. I don't feel deprived, I feel very satisfied and no hunger. I only wish I did this years ago!

    How often do you weigh?

I weigh myself daily in the am. The scale is headed in the right direction and I love seeing the numbers go down:) I hit my first goal of getting to under 195 so I am going to switch to weighing myself 1x a week instead.

    Honest Answers Only!

My pre-opp diet was over Thanksgiving... It was hard to stick the diet. I managed to only slip up 2x- once on Thanksgiving I had 1/2 cup of mash potatoes and a week before my surgery I had 1 slice of pizza. I also need to mention that instead of doing the liquid diet for 2 wks I was idiot and put myself on it for 3 wks (hoping I would lose more pre-op weight) so that was added pressure I put on myself. I would not recommend it:) best of luck to you
  17. I'm Nut told us not to weigh our selves after surgery since it's very common to gain weight after surgery due to high fluid intake ( all those bags of fluids they pump you with after surgery) it will come off... Follow dr orders and in a few days you will see it:) good luck

    WTF?

I have seen a 1 lb bump up here and there but I try to think about... Did I drink my water? did I get enough protein in? The answer is usually in one of those 2 questions and I try harder to get the water and or protein in the next day. The weight gets back down within a day or 2. I do weigh everyday and oddly at night too but I'm going to pick a day as a weigh in day because I'm getting obsessed with the scale I'm 3 weeks out of surgery and lost 30lbs total

    Head hunger

I have been finding that there is mental hunger.." I would love to have that" and physical hunger which is what you need to eat. I am 2 weeks post op and I have been cooking & baking up a storm for my family but I have had no desire to eat beyond my liq diet.
