  1. My family all live in another state except for my hubby of course, and my son and daughter about 1-1/2 away. My daughter is overwt and supported me in the beginning but now is combative about it. Her and her husband wanted to bring fried chicken (my fav) here for Easter and I said NO but they could certainly go eat it there. So far nothing has bothered me, I have made nice meals for my husband, including bacon and french toast, popcorn, omelet, and lots of other things. Went to the movies and watched him eat his big popcorn and smelled it all through the theater. But I just don't want to smell the fried chicken..I have told very few people that know me, and none of my family out of state. I didn't want to deal with their opinions and the "why can't you just go on a diet". I figure it is my business anyway. Funny how most socialization is built around drinking or eating and we never really notice it until we start our new life.
  2. I was surprised at my two week post op when my doc said I could start eating soft tender cooked meats with no sauce on them. I had made my hubby some bison stew in the crockpot and it was so tender. I also have had about 1/4 oz. grilled bison burger. You just don't want it to be dry..always tender cooked. Last night I cooked him a steak on the grill, I ate a couple of bites. No problems.....what does your doc say??
  3. when did you have surgery. You can take some Phayzme......
  4. Has anyone asked their tax person if we can deduct all these protein shakes and vitamins as medical necessity???
  5. Judy, to me it's really impressive you're eating over a 1,000 calories a day. I struggle to eat 500-600 a day. I rely on my protein shakes for the bulk of my protein. Would you mind sharing what foods you're eating that you like the most and tolerate the best? Thanks, Sandy To me, that is a lot of calories but I am not that far out. Right now ending my 3rd week, I take in about 400 cal a day, by doctors orders.......strangely I am satisfied. I went to the movies today with my husband and he had a large popcorn and a soda. I had my Protein Drink and a bottle of Water, BUT the looser fitting pants I had on made it ok...
  6. I experienced that rumbly tummy but it was the air/gas rumbling around.....I felt like I was carrying a 10 lb baby~~
  7. I don't know but I have to say I believe that is sorta selfish of your MIL!!!!!
  8. Make sure you are getting enough protein
  9. I have enough clothes in my closet to see me through at least 75-100 lb wt loss......
  10. Maybe you could pretend you are pregnant and having morning sickness, in several months you will be thin instead of fat and you won't have a nagging teenager in 13 years. Sorry, sometimes a sense of humor helps, no offense intended.......can't your doc give you something? Mine did for nausea...
  11. Yep, Drs. are different. Mine will still be limited at 5 weeks. Good luck
  12. It just depends on your doctor I guess. My doctor has impressed me with his thoroughness. He said the main reason for the pre op diet of two weeks was not so much to lose wt. although that was a plus, but to get me used to putting protein first and to shrink my fatty liver so he could still do laproscopic...
  13. I guess your doc is different than mine. Mine says to still have two shakes a day and I can only have 1/4 c protein food.....I had surgery Feb 26
  14. May I ask what you are eating to get that much protein??
  15. Heidi you and I share the same surgery date!!
  16. That was my only consolation. I had just a few bites of a grilled bison burger for super and I am full. I don't believe I miss anything as much as I do fresh fruit. Doc says not yet.....
  17. The day before my surgery, I had my husband take a before picture of me. I have avoided cameras for some time now.I was downloading some other stuff off my camera this morning and I saw the pictures for the first time!!! I could not believe that was me!! Reality shocker for sure.....18 months ago I had fallen on wet tile and did the splits and tore my hamstring. Shortly after, I was DX with Spinal stenosis and fibromyalgia. I had to start with a walker and graduate to a cane for all that time, until about a month ago. During that time I not only packed on MORE wt but got extremely out of shape. Exercise is still hard for me.....baby steps
  18. That does indeed. They are waiting for the paperwork cause they are too lazy to call the insurance and get #'s....
  19. Each doctor is different. I would say to follow your own doctors instruction closely, exercise and track your meals.....congratulations and good luck
  20. It has always been less for the self pay.....did I say that of that nearly 86K, Tricare paid them under $4500.00??
  21. A lot can change in 15 years but it was still too high I agree
  22. When was that? I thought that was excessive as well
  23. Shmily, I'm so sorry you experienced such an horrific loss. I fear anything happening to my hubby. I hope time has helped you heal. Thank you, it has and I am remarried to another awesome man. I wrote a book about it, published on Amazon. I will message you as I don't want to get into trouble for advertising....
