Time Length of First Fill
I was surprised to find out my band was installed 3cc's filled. My first post op appointment the nurse checked the band, extracted 3 cc's from the band and replaced with 4 clean cc's of fluid. My 2nd fill is scheduled for this Tuesday.

You'll forget about the pain when you're buying a new smaller pair of jeans I promise. Welcome to the beginning of a healthier life, my love!

No wonder I was so FAT!
The first week post-op was eye opener for me. Every other commercial is a food or restaurant and showing portions that could feed a small army. Glad to see you have journeyed to the small side!

protein shakes
I got a HUGE tub of protein powder from Vitamin shop. It smells and taste like cake batter. No it's not Body by V. They are very proud of that product and it doesn't contain enough protein.

Question about gas.
Preach on Leepers! I thought I was the only one not burping but blowing the butt trumpet! Unfortunately my husband and three boys try to match me toot for toot since I burp like a newborn now.

First Fill?
3 weeks after surgery I got my first fill. They only added 1 cc. Next fill is a week from tomorrow.

Is your weight loss surgeon morbidly obese?
It's ironic to say the least. Like the hairdresser who needs a good haircut or the manicurist that needs a mani/pedi in the worst way.

NSV: Size 1...in tights.
Great problem to have!

Am I wrong for wanting Lap Band surgery?
If you're getting the Lap-Band as a get skinny quick, you may want re-think having the surgery. There are so many life changes that you have to be prepared to make. Lap-Band doesn't give you permission to eat deep fried Twinkies just in a smaller portions. Eating better, slowing down at meal times, chewing food properly etc. These are all things your surgeon should tell you about pre-surgery if not red flags should go up. Do your research! A prepared patient is 200% better than an ignorant one.

Close Call !
That is the worst feeling. Glad to hear you got it worked out. That is one of the gnarliest feeling I've ever felt. Recently I forget to eat lunch (it happens to all of us with busy lives), got home and started to eat dinner entirely too fast. It took 2 bites before my body went into "Def Con 4" mode. The meal was so for me at that point.

Are you happier now that you are thinner?
Since I've lost some weight I am happier knowing I'm on the road getting healthy.

Feeling AMAZING! New Year New ME!
You are such an inspiration. Thank you for reminding me that it doesn't happen overnight, I still have to work for it. If I put in the work I will get the results.

11 days post-op and I feel great.
I can't tell you how long your pain will last. All I can say is walk and flap your arms. You might look like you're doing the chicken dance but it moves the gas. If you have a recliner, it's going to be your best friend when it comes to sleep. Just remember to sip your Protein shake and when you feel full stop. The pain will pass and you'll forget about it when lose weight. Good luck!

Discouraging words
That's your friend's opinion and my husband has always said opinions are like ***holes, everyone has one. You made the decision without her and you will succeed without her. You are going to do fantastic. Go do great things!

Just want to say hi and meet other lap banders

11 days post-op and I feel great.
Thank you soooo much for the support. It's very comforting to not only have my family but also everyone here as a support system.

11 days post-op and I feel great.
I returned to work on Monday and I feel stronger and stronger everyday. If I can survive Thanksgiving on a pre-op diet and Christmas brunches/luncheons from vendors, I can survive anything. There is so much temptation around the office year end but I like feeling healthy.

Feeling not so Groovy
I went through the same thing last week so I know how you feel. The pain is making you wonder if you did the right thing. Trust me the pain goes away and you'll get your strength back. You are doing a fantastic job. Just relax and let the healing process begin. I promise you it does get better. The hunger pangs you feel will go away. First and foremost just relax you just underwent a a major surgery.

Disappointed With Weight Loss
Don't you really have to ask "Who funded the failure study?" For every good scientific study there are at least 2 negative funded by opposition. If the band has such a high failure rate why get it? Or better still why did you get it? I'd like to think we are all intelligent people that researched every aspect of this procedure, the good, the bad and the not talked about parts. Just be supportive and let's help each other not hurt. (Jumping off soapbox)

Head Hunger
When I started this journey I had no idea what emotional eating was. I read somewhere that men eat when they're hungry and women eat when they are bored. The dietician told me to ask myself when I get hungry "Am I really hungry or is this just an impulse?" Most of the time it's an impulse because there was a commercial for Friday's Babyback Ribs or Wendy's new burger. (On a side note, I've never realized how many food commercials are on TV until I decided to become healthy.) Just internalizing if my head was hungry or I was physically hungry have helped me out a grata deal. Also just because we've chosen to make a lifestyle change doesn't mean you can't have that cookie or that slice of cheesecake just limit the size of what you consume. The more you deny yourself the little sweet pleasures in life the more your body will crave it. Have one cookie and savor it.

Monday my hernia was repaired and Band was "installed", so why am I still burping like a drunken sailor?
I thought once my hernia was repaired the excess burping was supposed to come to a screeching halt (no pun intended). Feeling the air but it's not painful at all. Any additional information would be appreciated.
