  1. I'm an in home therapist which means I go to people's homes to provide psychotherapy. Often these homes are in low income or "bad" areas. Today I was walking from my car to a home and a group of men were cat calling me. While I probably should have been offended, I wasn't. I've not had that happen in years.....

  2. I don't know why but the past couple of days I barely want to get out of bed. I know I'm not depressed... I just feel physically tired and unmotivated. my eating is on point~ I eat mostly whole foods, meet my 80gm of Protein and stay around 1200 calories. Most days I get 10,000 steps and include 45-60 minutes of activity. My weight loss is slow but steady. BUT I'M frickin tired!!!! Anyone else experience this?

  3. Interesting you posted this. I am 6 months out as of yesterday! I do suffer from chronic depression and anxiety. Meds have been successful at managing my moods. However, the past three weeks, I have been super irritable and crabby to my partner. Everything irritates me and I feel depressed. I have an appointment with my GP next month and will discuss it with her. Curious about other's experiences.

  4. Had band surgery in October 2005 and lost 100 pounds and then started having issues with slipping and it being too tight. Gained 90 pounds and had revision to sleeve in November 2013 and am down 87 pounds.

  5. I don't think most people WANT to eat around their sleeve. Most people have the very best of intention. I think it happens a little bit at a time and before you know it, you are back to bad habits such as grazing or eating slider foods. It's a slippery slope, one bite of something turns into 5 and so on.....

  6. As painful as it is to lose a friend, it may be for the best. My belief is people come in and out of our lives as they are applicable to our lives~ we learn from one another what we are suppose to during the time the person is in our lives. That time has ended for your friend.... she has nothing left that she is willing to learn from you.

Aside from my belief, she sounds like the mayor of crazytown! I honestly think she has her own issues (I'm a therapist by trade, so I don't want to over analyze but I'm sure she has her own mental health issues).

Good for you for looking out for YOUR own best interests.

    Peace to you my friend.

  7. So, I've been uping my walking and am ready to start "jogging". However, when I try to do any kind of run, my belly claps in shear amazemente of what I am doing. Ok, so, it's not only embarrassing, it's also uncomfortable. Does anyone have a recommendation for compression shorts or capris that are made for plus size women?

  8. I'll be 6 months out on the 27th and honestly, I'm having the same issue. I have been playing around with the same 4 pounds (up and down, up and down) for the past month. My hair is also thinning.

So frustrating. My calories are anywhere between 900 and 1200 and my Protein is between 80-100. I mostly walk and walk and walk for exercise and some yoga and weights.

  9. I about peed my pants reading this. I have had very similar conversations with myself. Tonight I bought a bag of marshmallows because we were having a campfire. I made 2 of the most beautifully toasted marshmallows and ate them. The rest of the bag went in the fire..... I know it's a waste but it would be torture to have them in the house!

  10. I LOVE my fitbit Flex. I use it all the time. It tracks your movement,, the amount of very active minutes, your sleep pattern, you can track all your food, Water and sleep. It's nice because it gives you a really good visual of your calories in VS calories out. BEST piece of fitness equipment I own ( aside from my dog~ who walks with me everyday).

  11. I'm almost 6 months out.... I usually do 100-1200 calories and the amount varies on the type of food. Breakfast I ALWAYS eat the same thing. Don't know why, I just do.

1 lite and fit greek yogurt

2 TBSP Fage plain greek yogurt

    1 oz almond slices

    1/2 cup blueberries

    1/2 cup strawberries

    1 TBSP chia seeds

    ! TBSP flax Seeds

lunch is usually a salad with chicken, feta and some nuts

dinner is usually some sort form Protein, turkey, ground turkey, chicken, tofu, hot dogs :) and veggies~ sometimes potato or sweet potato,

I make most of our food so I do make Protein balls for Snacks or protein muffins. I also use Quest bars and carb advantage Protein shakes or a grande non fat sugar free latte for Snacks.

  12. A couple of weeks ago my daughter asked me to take an Aerial Yoga class with her. I hesitantly agreed thinking, "sure, why not? I've lost a bunch of weight and it was always something I wanted to try."

Well....I was clearly the fattest person there... The instructor wasn't the most sensitive and told me I would have to move to a spot in the middle of the room as it was "more supportive" (I took this to mean the other ropes wouldn't hold me) I wanted to cry... I thought I had come so far, and in many ways I have. But this was a wake up call that I have a long way to go. I was not able to finish the class and I ended up leaving about 1/2 hour into a 2 hour class. I probably could have done more than I did but I did have my gallbladder removed about 6 weeks ago and some of the stretches left me feeling like I was going to hurt something.

Even with all of this, I am so much stronger and healthier than I was. I feel so much more energetic, I am able to walk for miles, my blood pressure is normal and I'm off of meds, my cholesterol is normal, my glucose is normal and all of this is amazing. However, when I see the long road ahead, I start to feel discouraged. Today was just a rough day on me mentally.

  13. I haven't had a problem with any fruit. Early on I ate applesauce, bananas, canned peaches and pears that were canned in Water and not syrup~ so no added sugar. Now I can eat almost anything. I eat blueberries and strawberries daily (with yogurt, almonds, flax and chia seeds) I had watermelon the past couple of days and it was fine. Apples can sometimes be tricky for me I don't chew them enough. Soft fruit like peaches, pears, plums are all good! I haven't had any adverse reactions (Ie. dumping) with fruit. BUT, I have had candy that didn't work out so great!

  14. I'm 5 and 1/2 months out and I average between 900-1200 cal/day. (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less). I see people who are doing 500-800 and honestly, I don't think I would feel healthy consuming so little. My carb intake is a little more than most too even though I don't eat flour, sugar, white potatoes, rice, etc. I NEED the Fiber and the antioxidants fruits and veggies offer. Also, I eat very little meat so that makes it hard to get the right Protein without the higher calories.......
