  1. As painful as it is to lose a friend, it may be for the best. My belief is people come in and out of our lives as they are applicable to our lives~ we learn from one another what we are suppose to during the time the person is in our lives. That time has ended for your friend.... she has nothing left that she is willing to learn from you. Aside from my belief, she sounds like the mayor of crazytown! I honestly think she has her own issues (I'm a therapist by trade, so I don't want to over analyze but I'm sure she has her own mental health issues). Good for you for looking out for YOUR own best interests. Peace to you my friend.

    6 months out need info!

I'll be 6 months out on the 27th and honestly, I'm having the same issue. I have been playing around with the same 4 pounds (up and down, up and down) for the past month. My hair is also thinning. So frustrating. My calories are anywhere between 900 and 1200 and my Protein is between 80-100. I mostly walk and walk and walk for exercise and some yoga and weights.

    I Threw It Out!

I about peed my pants reading this. I have had very similar conversations with myself. Tonight I bought a bag of Marshmallows because we were having a campfire. I made 2 of the most beautifully toasted marshmallows and ate them. The rest of the bag went in the fire..... I know it's a waste but it would be torture to have them in the house!
  4. This is an awesome thread. My Protein always reaches 80+ per day but my carbs range between 85-110. I eat a lot of fruit, veggies, yogurt, and eat Quest bars a few times per week. I do eat meat but it isn't my favorite and I hate fish so I really struggle. Any suggestions are most welcomed.

    extreme hair loss

I was sleeved too in November and am having the same issue. I'm taking Biotin daily and I don't' think it's helping my hair. Although my nails are growing like crazy! Let us know if you find something that works.

    Fitbit

I LOVE my fitbit Flex. I use it all the time. It tracks your movement,, the amount of very active minutes, your sleep pattern, you can track all your food, Water and sleep. It's nice because it gives you a really good visual of your calories in VS calories out. BEST piece of fitness equipment I own ( aside from my dog~ who walks with me everyday).
  7. I'm almost 6 months out.... I usually do 100-1200 calories and the amount varies on the type of food. Breakfast I ALWAYS eat the same thing. Don't know why, I just do. 1 lite and fit greek yogurt 2 TBSP Fage plain greek yogurt 1 oz almond slices 1/2 cup blueberries 1/2 cup strawberries 1 TBSP chia seeds ! TBSP flax Seeds lunch is usually a salad with chicken, feta and some nuts dinner is usually some sort form Protein, turkey, ground turkey, chicken, tofu, hot dogs and veggies~ sometimes potato or sweet potato, I make most of our food so I do make protein balls for Snacks or protein muffins. I also use Quest bars and carb advantage Protein shakes or a grande non fat sugar free latte for snacks.

    Memorial Day Challenge

230~ again. Stalls are sooo frustrating.
  9. A couple of weeks ago my daughter asked me to take an Aerial Yoga class with her. I hesitantly agreed thinking, "sure, why not? I've lost a bunch of weight and it was always something I wanted to try." Well....I was clearly the fattest person there... The instructor wasn't the most sensitive and told me I would have to move to a spot in the middle of the room as it was "more supportive" (I took this to mean the other ropes wouldn't hold me) I wanted to cry... I thought I had come so far, and in many ways I have. But this was a wake up call that I have a long way to go. I was not able to finish the class and I ended up leaving about 1/2 hour into a 2 hour class. I probably could have done more than I did but I did have my gallbladder removed about 6 weeks ago and some of the stretches left me feeling like I was going to hurt something. Even with all of this, I am so much stronger and healthier than I was. I feel so much more energetic, I am able to walk for miles, my blood pressure is normal and I'm off of meds, my cholesterol is normal, my glucose is normal and all of this is amazing. However, when I see the long road ahead, I start to feel discouraged. Today was just a rough day on me mentally.

    Which fruits to have?

I haven't had a problem with any fruit. Early on I ate applesauce, bananas, canned peaches and pears that were canned in Water and not syrup~ so no added sugar. Now I can eat almost anything. I eat blueberries and strawberries daily (with yogurt, almonds, flax and chia seeds) I had watermelon the past couple of days and it was fine. Apples can sometimes be tricky for me I don't chew them enough. Soft fruit like peaches, pears, plums are all good! I haven't had any adverse reactions (Ie. dumping) with fruit. BUT, I have had candy that didn't work out so great!

    How Many Calories @ Day?

I'm 5 and 1/2 months out and I average between 900-1200 cal/day. (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less). I see people who are doing 500-800 and honestly, I don't think I would feel healthy consuming so little. My carb intake is a little more than most too even though I don't eat flour, sugar, white potatoes, rice, etc. I NEED the Fiber and the antioxidants fruits and veggies offer. Also, I eat very little meat so that makes it hard to get the right Protein without the higher calories.......

    Peanut butter

I tolerated Peanut Butter fine, and still do. The only thing is it causes me acid reflux but I take Prilosec everyday anyway.... but if I forget and eat peanut butter, it's like a fire in my esophagus. That said, it's also a trigger food for me....so I have to be super careful.
  15. I am right now.... I always seem to loose hair after having anesthesia. I had surgery in November and again last month.... It's an embarrassing thing, but there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it.

    Feel like im losing slow

I had revision from band to sleeve on 11/27/13 and down 82 pounds. Everyone is different~ that said, you had a lower starting weight than I did and you certainly weigh less than I do right now!!
  17. I've had a rough couple of days and have wanted to eat everything in sight. I haven't been emotional or particularly bored but I have been grazing since yesterday. Yesterday I ate around 1200 calories and I did the same today. Now, I realize 1200 isn't the end of the world and I didn't eat anything that was super bad... I just ate more than I should. I've been finding myself obsessing about what I can eat and when. I thought planning my meals and Snacks ahead of time would eliminate the obsessive part, but it hasn't. I just find myself having to add to my food log when I eat something that wasn't planned. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or strategies for dealing with this.

    Giving Up your favorite foods

There are a lot of things I miss.... That said, I do occasionally give in and have a bite of whatever (cupcake, chocolate, etc). What I have found ( and I may be in the minority here) is that having the bite or two eliminates my obsessing about a particular food. Additionally, a lot of times I take a bite and I expect it to be so fabulous and I frequently find myself thinking "eh, this wasn't as good as I remember, or I could live with out having another bite" honestly, a lot of things just don't taste the same.

    Underwear

Isn't that a great feeling! I'm on my 2nd set of smaller undies.... It's getting kinda costly, but it is a lot of fun!
  21. I love these boards because they help me feel like I'm not alone in a very personal struggle. So I want to thank you, everyone, for the community we create together. That said, I have seen some hostile and mean posts/responses recently and this is really disappointing and hurtful to see. I know everyone has their own issues, their own opinions and their own ways of doing things. However, we ALL have to respect and hold each other up with kindness. I'm not saying we should sugar coat anything, but rather we should come from a place of empathy and understanding while giving ideas, support and community to one another. Why would we want to make this journey any more difficult for anyone than it already is.

    Low Carb Yogurt?

I actually mix about 2-3 tbsp. of fage to the dannon greek light and fit vanilla. Boosts up the Protein with very few extra calories/carbs
