I'm 7 months out and 90 pounds lighter. I am losing my hair like no one's business.... and I had/have fine/thin hair to begin with. I bought a product called Toppix that fills in your hair so you don't look baldish. It works really good but it's like wearing makeup in your hair. If you sweat or it rains on you, it gets weird and kinda comes off on your fingers if you touch it. Either way, I use it everyday and no one but my partner and me have noticed my hair loss. It sucks soo much though and I wish it didn't happen. That said, I wouldn't trade my health for hair.

Does it cost more for a revision
kyleebean replied to A. Stoot's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My doctor did both operations at the same time, but it was still considered 2 separate operations as far as cost. However, some doctors do it in 2 separate operations and I think that would be more expensive as you have two anesthetic costs, 2 hospital stays, etc. -
Does it cost more for a revision
kyleebean replied to A. Stoot's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I guess it depends on what your revising from. I had a lap band so My answer is YES because it is essentially two operations: Removal of the lap band and creation of the sleeve. I had a really rough revision and was hospitalized for four days with some complications. My bill totaled (after reductions from the hospital and the 25,000 the insurance paid) around 60,000. My insurance only covered 25,000 per life time. -
Married Yesterday (and at my lowest weight)
kyleebean posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wisconsin overturned the ban on same sex marriage yesterday! The court house stayed open until 9pm to issue marriage licenses and perform ceremonies. So, my partner and I (along with our daughter) went to the court house and were married. I couldn't be happier! -
I'm frustrated and I admit it. I've just been feeling down lately and I think it's because my weight loss has slowed waaayyy down. I realize I could have less calories or work out more but I feel like my weight loss should speed up already! I also want to be able to eat whatever I want. Sometimes I just want to eat the cake, ya know. Lately, I feel like I'm battling to make the "right" choice all the time. Some days I want to eat two Quest bars.... sometimes, I just want to have to not worry about every frickin thing that goes in my mouth.

Today's my 7 month anniversary for my conversion from lapband to sleeve. 90 pounds down and 60 to go. Feeling pretty proud of myself even though my weight loss has slowed and I'm still struggling with "just wanting to eat things". For the most part, I'm eating around 1200 calories, 85 gm of Protein and getting 100 oz or more of Fluid in. I've been walking about 3 miles a day four or five times per week. Know what? My dog has also lost some weight!!

Wife Eating Habits Worsening
kyleebean replied to Andrew0929's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First off, I find the title of this thread amusing.... I too, struggle with partner's eating habits, although, maybe not for the same reason. There are some foods that buy that are a bit more expensive and I buy them for me. However, I'll go to grab a Quest bar or some Peanut Butter and there isn't any left. I never realized how much she ate... It irritates the hell out of me. That said, I'm the sole grocery shopper in our house so I have total control over what comes in. I think I would find it extremely difficult to deal with watching bad eating habits on a regular basis. Occasionally, my partner will order Chinese food or pizza and often feels really guilty about it. Honestly, I could care less... For me it would be totally different if cake, chocolate or ice cream were being eaten in front of me. Those are HUGE trigger foods for me and she has been super respectful of that. Is it possible for you to have a very candid conversation with your wife about how you feel. Even though she may be sensitive about this subject, she doesn't have the opportunity to change her behavior unless she is aware of how you feel. Best of luck! -

Married Yesterday (and at my lowest weight)
kyleebean replied to kyleebean's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OMG... I am so sorry, I even looked at your surgery date on your profile and it said may 2014.... I would not have said anything if I knew you were still preop. I'm very sorry if I scared you.... That said, Froedert has a lot of "revisions" from Dr. Chua. but they are band to sleeve or band to RNY, etc. -
Married Yesterday (and at my lowest weight)
kyleebean replied to kyleebean's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Little laura: I had my original lap band surgery in 2005 with Dr. Chua... I had NOTHING but problems and difficulty with the band, procedure, Dr. Chua... Not a great experience. I just had revision surgery this past November from lapband to gastric sleeve. Dr. Goldbladt from Froedert did it and said the band had extremely poor placement, my port had flipped and that band needed to come out. I couldn't be happier with the sleeve! -

Do I need a therapist?
kyleebean replied to ladykatie_'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If you're asking if you need a therapist, you probably need one! My experience (as a therapist) is people think about entering therapy long before they do. There is no reason to be afraid or ashamed about the reason you want to see a therapist. My guess is you are dealing with a lot of emotions (as we all are on this board) and need some help to sort them out. Go see someone! It can only help. Lots of luck to you. -
My guess would be teacher!

I'm an in home therapist which means I go to people's homes to provide psychotherapy. Often these homes are in low income or "bad" areas. Today I was walking from my car to a home and a group of men were cat calling me. While I probably should have been offended, I wasn't. I've not had that happen in years.....

I don't know why but the past couple of days I barely want to get out of bed. I know I'm not depressed... I just feel physically tired and unmotivated. my eating is on point~ I eat mostly whole foods, meet my 80gm of Protein and stay around 1200 calories. Most days I get 10,000 steps and include 45-60 minutes of activity. My weight loss is slow but steady. BUT I'M frickin tired!!!! Anyone else experience this?
-
I appreciate your response as I have had depression and am on medication for it. This is totally different. It isn't that I don't want to do anything, I just feel tired. I'm not sick but maybe I'm coming down with something... I don't know.

Depression at 6 months?
kyleebean replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting you posted this. I am 6 months out as of yesterday! I do suffer from chronic depression and anxiety. Meds have been successful at managing my moods. However, the past three weeks, I have been super irritable and crabby to my partner. Everything irritates me and I feel depressed. I have an appointment with my GP next month and will discuss it with her. Curious about other's experiences. -
Had band surgery in October 2005 and lost 100 pounds and then started having issues with slipping and it being too tight. Gained 90 pounds and had revision to sleeve in November 2013 and am down 87 pounds.

So, I've been uping my walking and am ready to start "jogging". However, when I try to do any kind of run, my belly claps in shear amazemente of what I am doing. Ok, so, it's not only embarrassing, it's also uncomfortable. Does anyone have a recommendation for compression shorts or capris that are made for plus size women?

Eating around the sleeve
kyleebean replied to Unhappysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think most people WANT to eat around their sleeve. Most people have the very best of intention. I think it happens a little bit at a time and before you know it, you are back to bad habits such as grazing or eating slider foods. It's a slippery slope, one bite of something turns into 5 and so on.....
