  1. Me too, Idairene, I am much more comfortable, but the cost is amazing! I started hand washing my bras to make them last longer - though I will probably change size again so may not be worth the trouble!
  2. Thanks. I am 5'6". I think my BMI was 37 when I started - now I am overweight instead of obese. High blood pressure can be a comorbidity and joint pain may be osteoarthritis, also a comorbidity. Why your family doc? My Bariatric Surgeon worked with the insurance. Where are you? I'm in Dallas, TX.
  3. I lost 37 lbs in the first 3 mos. - may not be as much as some, but I'm thrilled that I lost it forever and am continuing to lose!
  4. I will be 57 this year and started with a fairly low BMI. I was sleeved Dec. 31 and am enjoying the changes!
  5. Makes me want to cry for all of us.
  6. Cruel to be Kind? Just kidding. No, it is "You Gotta Be" by Des'ree - You gotta be bad, you gotta be bold, you gotta be wiser. You gotta be hard, you gotta be tough, you gotta be stronger. Love will find a way."
  7. I was told to count them.
  8. I, like many of the others, have been a stress eater and I used it to numb feelings. I can also trace it back to childhood issues. The thing is, I think that (in a twisted way) I was trying to care for myself by the overeating. That is a good instinct and I don't want to lose it. I am trying to find healthier ways to nourish my mind and body and to manage my feelings.
  9. What did your NUT tell you? Mine did not give a caloric intake, just that: 1. I should eat no more that a salad plate of food for a meal. 2. It should be 70% Protein, 20% vegie, 10% starch 3. I should eat the protein first 4. No more than 2 Snacks a day 5. 60 - 65 g of protein a day
  10. When you buy a dress with horizontal stripes.
  11. I gelt pretty normal at about 3 mos.
  12. Thanks! This probably explains it. 34 Long! Isn't that the truth!!!
  13. Texasmeg posted a topic in The Gals' Room
So, my bras weren't fitting very well (I wasn't filling them out), so I went in for a fitting. I lost two sizes around, but increased the cup size from C to D! I'm confused - have they changed the standards?
  14. I reached way back in my closet yesterday for some clothes I thought might fit now (though I thought I was still too big) and tried them on. I was swimming in them and there is no way I could wear them out!
  15. No champagne?!?! I never thought of that!
  16. Hw: 232 SW: 223 CW: 183 Surgery Date: 12/31/2013 Lost 2 lbs. this week
  17. I just loved the title of this posting! Sometimes we realize what we are giving up, but others get us by surprise. We get so much more in return, though.
  18. I suggest you also consider the risks of obesity in your decision.
  19. I was sleeved by Dr. Cribbins and Presby Plano and had an excellent experience. I can't say enough good things about the doctor, his staff, and the bariatric center of excellence at Presby Plano. Dr. Cribbins is knowlegable and experienced and, at Presby Plano, I was on a floor with nothing but bariatric patients - so the staff also had a lot of experience. Not to say it was always easy (the first week is pretty rough), but I was confident in the medical staff. Good luck with your surgery - maybe I'll see you at a support group meeting.
  20. I lost the first week and then quit losing for 2 - 3 weeks. It is frustrating (especially when everything is so hard), but it will pass. Hang in there - you are doing what you need to do to care for yourself.
  21. I am surprised that I don't miss diet coke. I sometimes miss pasta and bread, but not like I thought I would.
  22. We have a backyard pool and I bought two new bathing suits - a size too small. I can't wait to wear them - my belly is so flat now!
  23. I also have a herniated disk, but was taking meloxicam before surgery. My surgeon told me afterwards that I couldn't take it "for a while" and it worried me. I had cortisone shots 6 mos. ago and I think they helped - I did pretty well. The nurse practioner told me I could start again after 3 mos. I did, and after 3 days I started having stomach pain. I went off the meloxicam & went on a full liquid diet for a day. I don't know if it was connected - but I think I'll avoid them for now. Good luck!
