VSG & Motrin?

So I am considering an VSG and am worried about NSAIDS. I have an herniated disc that I am fairly dependent on Motrin to sleep. If I don't take 800mg at bedtime my back pretty much keeps me up. I do my best not to use narcotics unless I just can't deal and certainly do not want to replace motrin with percocet if I don't have to. I know I am going to have to discuss this with my surgeon but I am still waiting to see him. My ultimate hope is that when I get a bunch of this weight off, my back pain will improve and I won't need the med's. Has anyone out there gone through something similar?

I also have a herniated disk, but was taking meloxicam before surgery. My surgeon told me afterwards that I couldn't take it "for a while" and it worried me. I had cortisone shots 6 mos. ago and I think they helped - I did pretty well. The nurse practioner told me I could start again after 3 mos. I did, and after 3 days I started having stomach pain. I went off the meloxicam & went on a full liquid diet for a day. I don't know if it was connected - but I think I'll avoid them for now. Good luck!
