How Did You Do Thanksgiving Day? Share Your Story
Texasmeg replied to Dr-Patient's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 11 mos. postop and had a "normal" Thanksgiving dinner, just less of it. I've made a conscious decision not to worry about calories during the two big family holiday dinners this year, but to avoid the treats at work. My sister, who is 3-4 yrs out and I enjoyed the same meal everyone else did. That should give hope to some of you that are a few days or weeks out of surgery. I felt great afterwards (didn't overeat) and had a wonderful time with my family (putting the focus where it should be). I did work out this week and ended up losing a little. I am 1 lb from goal! -

My faith My wonderfully supportive and loving husband My new granddaughter and my daughters My supportive sisters My 80 lb weight loss and my stronger body My job - challenging and keeps a roof over my head -
I lost most of my weight and yet my knees still hurt so much that I had trouble climbing stairs. I met a trainer who convinced me he could help me fix that and he did! He started me off doing assisted squats and now I'm squatting with a 60 lb weight on my back and lunging with 20 lbs - no pain!!! It was worth every penny for me.

Does a gym REALLY make a difference vs working out at home?
Texasmeg replied to mi75's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I like the gym because I work harder there than at home. Also, working with a personal trainer at the gym has taught me a huge amount about how to use weights for maximim benefits. Lastly, I very much enjoy Pilates on a reformer machine. However, as long as you'll push yourself to improve, home excercise is fine. -
Is anyone buying new jackets and/or coats this fall? I had to get rid of a couple of jackets, but am trying to get by with a couple of old ones. Coats are expensive and I worry about where I'll be next winter. Meanwhile, I look kind of sloppy. :-(

I'm at my daughter's house for a week and she mentioned that it lioked like my flats were too big because I've been shuffling in them. I've been trying to get by without buying new ones (spending plenty on new pants and sweaters), but I may have to do it. I did splurge on a pair of beautiful boots. Of course, not seeing myself well, I tried on the wide calf first and it was way too big. I tried on the regular size calf and it fit great! That really made my day!

No change this week. HW: 232 SW: 223 CW: 153 TPL: 79 TPG: 70 TP (Final) G: 82 Frustrated that I'm so close to goal, but not quite there. I am happy I'm not gaining, though. I briefly flirted with losing a pound this week - but ended up back where I started. Great news this week was that I have a new granddaughter (born on Halloween)! I'm looking forward to many active years with her. -

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Texasmeg replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 12/31/21013, I've lost 78 lbs (232 to 154 lbs). I'm very happy with the results. I'm finding myself more hungry some days and having cravings. I'm working out a lot, though, and generally eating healthier. I don't want any gains!
