    Dallas, Texas Sleevers! !

Hi, everyone. I live in Plano and was sleeved by Dr. Cribbins on Dec. 31, 2013 at Plano Presby. I had a very good experience and would highly recommend both. They took their time with education and answered all my questions. The hospital floor is nothing but bariatric patients and the nurses know how to manage pain, dry mouth, etc. I am still on a liquid diet (until Feb. 8) that includes yogurt, pudding, etc., but am looking forward to trying solid foods when I can.

    Need some support/advice

I can't give you advice, but am interested in the answers. My doc has me on a liquid diet for nearly six weeks after surgery and I am more than half-way there. Even though I'm not hungry, I keep thinking (and even dreaming) about high-fat Mexican food - dripping with cheese. Would love to get rid of this.
  3. I hit a 10 day period with no loss, but am finally loosing again - yeah! HW 232 SW 223(12/31) CW 210 22 pounds lost total!

    Gym?

I can use light hand weights and, of course, walk. I am looking forward to getting back to Pilates classes after the six week mark, although it is going to be rough to start again with loose abs.

    Tailbone pain since weight loss

I have read that, after a lot of weight loss, posture is different and can cause back problems or worsening of back problems - don't know if that includes the tail bone, though.
  6. All of what you are experiencing sounds absolutely normal. After the first week, most will get better. Walking improved my gas pain and is highly recommended to avoid other complications.
  7. I had my sleeve done by Dr. Cribbins in Plano at Presby Plano (which has a Center of Excellence for Bariatric surgery). I couldn't be happier with both. Dr. Cribbins and staff were knowlegable and took their time with me. The nurses and Bariatric Coordinator at the hospital are experts and great at educating patients. They were also focused on pain relief, which I appreciated.

    Hair Loss please help

My hairdresser suggested to leep it in a simple style. She said people notice it more when you try to fluff it up to cover the loss.

    Food Dreams?

I had a dream pre-op that I ate a HUGE ice cream sundae with hot fudge. I swear I actually tasted it. After eating it, I suddenly remembered it wasn't on my pre-op diet and was really upset with myself!

Can you see my profile pic?

I can, but it is tiny on my phone!

    Sleeve chain...

My sister did it first and was very successful. It was nice to see how she felt and what she ate. She was nervous that she had convinced me to do this, but for me it was my own journey (just nice to see the impact).
  12. My plan is so different. I can only have liquids, pudding, yogurt, soup broth, oatmeal or malt-o-meal until 5 weeks an 3 days. After that - anything with introducing is slowly and chewing a lot. I am on week 3 and sick of liquids. Nice to know things can go so well, though!
  13. Who is the surgeon? I live in the DFW area.
  14. I haven't posted this week because there's mo change - hopefully next week.
  15. Went back to work today after 13 days today to an office job. I'm very tired and my abs are sore - apparently it takes a lot to sit up for 8 hrs.
  16. I recall a couple of years ago that there was someone in my weight watch meeting who said she had WLS. I thought they were working with her on a custom meal plan.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Going back to work tomorrow and feeling a little nervous about having enough energy - but mainly nervous about the questions from coworkers. I haven't told them why I was having surgery (though they know that I did have it). A couple of people asked what my surgery was for and I told them I didn't really want to discuss it. People will probably notice the weight loss and comment. I plan to just smile and say thanks.

    Damage to Sleeve

That is exactly how it feels for me - much easier to become uncomfortable suddenly. I guess that is part of why we eat slowly.

I am officially a post sleever!

Hang in there! I was sleeved Dec. 1 and am doing pretty well. The first week was tough. Every day gets better.
  20. Since I've quit eating regular food (and am on my post-op "full liquid" diet), I have noticed: 1) Every other store location is a restaurant or grocery. 2) A large percentage of posts on facebook are about food. 3) Magazines include lots of articles about food. 4) There are a lot of tv shows about food. It's not that I'm hungry - I'm not. It just seems to me, as someone who is not eating, that everyone else is obsessed with food.
  21. I'm afraid you might be wrong - I have a yeast infection on my skin! I'm using jock-itch powder on it (per doc).
  22. I will be going back Monday, after 13 days. My job is a combination of sitting, walking, and standing (no lifting). I hope it goes well - I told them I will only work 8 hours/day for the first two wks (vs. the usual 12 or more). I'm going to try hard to stick to that.

Don't push it! You had surgery and are still recovering.

I am officially a post sleever!

The one thing I was unprepared for (though I'd heard about it) was the gas. It was pretty bad and interfered with my being able to drink things. Gas-X strips helped and, after a week, it is a whole lot better. I went to the Doc yesterday and he was pleased I was getting down about 3/4 of my required Protein at that point.

    Drinking pop

As a Diet Coke-aholic, I have sworn off it since my surgery. We have all read that people that drink diet sodas gain more weight and I have to wonder if it isn't because it helps to stretch the stomach. For those of you that aren't addicts, you can probably get away with small amounts eventually, but I think it might be uncomfortable.
