  1. You and I started close to the same weight and our losses are also tracking about the same - if that helps any. Good luck on the swallowing issues.
  2. My doctor said not to do it until 6 weeks - you should be fine.
  3. HW: 232 SW: 223 (Dec 31, 2013) CW: 191 41 pounds lost forever!
  4. It's usually an insurance and Surgeon requirement to see a NUT, but it's also very worthwile for you to do. The first few weeks after surgery involve transition between different ways of eating and it can be confusing. Also, as you continue, you are eating very little so nutrtional decisions are more important.

    Feel great but not losing

I'm curious what you mean by saying that you wouldn't know you had surgery. Is your intake restricted by your sleeve? Your hunger? Most people report a stall in the 3rd week, but mine was in the 2nd and 3rd weeks. I am 2.5 mos. out and have only had one other week without a loss. As they say, keep following the plan your Surgeon and NUT gave you and it can't help but happen.
  6. I was sleeved on Dec. 31, 2013 and couldn't be happier. I've lost 42 lbs, have plenty of energy, and eat fairly normally (though not much). I'm rarely hungry anymore. I eat high Protein and avoid Pasta, potatoes and bread (though I can eat them in small quantities). I don't seem to have the cravings for diet sodas and sweets that I once had, but eat a bite of dessert now and then. Good luck in your decision!

    seeking knowledge and help.

I've only tried one - the Quest Lemon and I thought it was awful. I'm afraid to try others now.
  8. I started having heartburn a week or two after surgery and started taking Prilosec. Two and a half months and I haven't had any more problems (but still take Prilosec). I will try going off of it after a few months.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

I'm sitting in a barbeque resturaunt right now waiting for a to-go order to bring to a potluck. I'm looking atound at people with heaping plates of food and feeling like I don't belong here. Thanking the stars for my sleeve and looking forward to an evening of socializing.

  11. I wasn't there so long (maybe 2 - 3 hours), but my surgery was 2 weeks after that.
  12. No problem - we've learned to delay gratification!

    Post-op food nightmares..

Interesting foods to dream cheat with! You may want to try my dream hot fudge sundae instead.
  14. I've thought about this a lot - I acted like a food addicted kid (though not overweight until my late 20's) and my mother was extremely controlling of the food I did eat. I'm think that did some harm. I do recall one Thanksgiving when my Mom kind of lost it when I asked for more pumpkin pie. She gave me a whole pie and told me to eat as much as I wanted (thinking it would teach me a lesson). I ate the whole pie, vomited, and then asked if there was anymore.
  15. SandeeD - I noticed that my posture had changed when I looked at my before photos and my two month photos - it was obvious. The posture can certainly make a difference in how your lower back feels. Congrats - but don't overdo the walking!
  16. I got three books (including the one listed) off of Amazon. I am eating Turkey meatloaf (my hubbie's recipe - with mushrooms and cilantro) with steamed brussel sprouts - yum!

    Feeling crazy sick today

I did not have this problem, but have seen similar issues. Others have said to contact your surgeon because they can treat it.
  18. Welcome - this is a good place to learn about recovery from the surgery. Your stomach has to be protected because the surgery is to the stomach, so there are additional steps you have to take when you get home. Your doc and nutritionist should fill you in, but mor info. is available here. Who is your doctor and where are you having the surgery? I'm in Dallas and went to Dr. Cribbins. I had the surgery at Presby Plano. I had a very good experience and, at about 2.5 mos. out, I've been very happy I had it done. Good luck and keep asking questions.

    Post-op food nightmares..

Early after my surgery I had a dream where I ate a huge hot fudge sundae and then suddenly remembered I'd had surgery. I woke up and was so relieved I hadn't done it!

    Comments at work

I like your response. On Friday, someone at work asked me flat out if I had WLS and I told the truth - but wished I hadn't because it will be all over the office now and I'm hoping there won't be a lot of comments.

    rant, sorry

Olivia, I am so sorry for what you are going through. I was never active when I was young, but my daughters were and I saw how much it meant to them. Part of it was the joy of being active and part of it was being a member of a team. Is it just the activity you crave or is it also the comradery? If the latter, could you join something else (like yearbook) to get you through for a while. You definitely need a way to relieve the stress. Have you tried writing or painting? Meditation might help. Take care of yourself and don't beat yourself up!
  22. I'm in a (hopefully short) stall, so won't post a loss this week. I'll keep following my plan and will post next week!
  23. I'm glad to hear he is going with you to therapy and I hope everything works out. That said, please protect your financial interests at the same time. Women don't tend to be as savy about that as men do.
