    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Okay, I'm worried. I found out today that my surgeon removed approx 60% of my stomach while I had thought it would be 85%. I'm so worried that it isn't going to be enough and I have will be right back to my HW later on. I don't have anyone to share those thoughts with who would remotely understand so I just needed to share it with yall. It's really bothering me. Thanks for everything

Today I made SF Vanilla pudding and I had Greek yogurt today for the first time. I did pretty well with the Greek yogurt But I had added protein powder to my pudding And once again the protein made me nauseated. I am looking so forward to one day chewing my food again.
  5. Next year, I want to wear leggings, cute boots and a dress above my knees. I can still wear that at 48, right?

  10. I was Sleeved on 12/9, the pain is better but I normally have 1pain pill before bedtime. I am having significant issues with nausea, doctor called in a different medication tonight; hopefully, it'll help. Diarrhea is an issue (sorry) - just yuck. I also had my Gallbladder removed so that may also be causing my issues. Hot liquids continue to be my "go to." Walking outside feels so good. We will all feel "new & improved.""

    For those healing right now..

Thank you for posting and I was sleeved on Monday. I have had "many" moments of wth I do this to myself. 1. Nausea - stuff just stinks - the thought of Protein just makes my gag ( I got to get over it ) 2. Major issues with diarrhea - I had my gallbladder removed so I am wondering if it's caused be my sleeve or from my GB removal. 3. The positive, I am resting better. 4. Warm liquids are best ..cold literally hurts. I hate to speak negative but it would be helpful to know if this is just me or if others are having similar issues.
  14. Sleeved on Dec 9th..lost 20lbs preop. Goal to lose a total if 80lbs
  15. I went in for VSG and ended up hernia repaired plus my gallbladder removed. I pray this the last time I ever have any abdominal surgery. I am respiratory compromise just a little bit so I'm still do my breathing exercises at home, gotta get these lungs cleared. Staff at the hospital were absolutely phenomenal. The best thing has been warm decaf tea, Unjury chicken broth (taste isn't greatest but has protein and it's warm) and Isopure grape and punch today flavored.

    December 9Th Sleevers

Dec 9th sleever here. Today is my first full day home, my goodness home feels so good. I just walked to the mailbox and back so thats good. the coughing is the worst part, geeze it's so bad. I'm able to keep liquids down but the warm teas. Are still the best so far me. Also I had my gallbladder removed and hernia repaired. I told my doc I went in for one surgery and had 3; I said when it's time for him to do my plastic surgery, I expect to go in for one thing and come out with three things done no extra charge ...

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hey this is VSGshell which is same person as mshell. I had issues signing on with my orginal name so I created a new user name Had my surgery on Dec 9th. They also took out my gallbladder and repaired a hernia which I wasn't aware of but I'm thankful it is all taken care of, I don't ever want to have abdominal surgery again. Hospital stay was good but honestly it was very difficult. I walked twice the first night plus sat in the chair for several hours - walking and sitting up are critical but geeze it is painful to say the less. Worse so far - coughing. OMG - you must have a heavy pillow to press next to your stomach when you cough but I also kept it laying on my stomach the entire time while in the hospital plus it's what i am doing right now. I have a tempurpedic pillow and I promise it is so worth the money they weigh more than a traditional pillow . Also take a safety pin to the hospital and you can use to attach your drain to your PJ's. Also take your own herbal teas to the hospital and sweetner, I was shocked how many times dietary bought me regular sugar and caffeine drinks. Last take your own sugar free sport drink and Isopure - Any color but red. Reason - when you drink in the hospital if you were to have a leak you'll see a different color go into your drain, The color going into your drain should be red So if you see the color that you're drinking then that's an indication that you may have a problem. Lastly take extra under clothes because you may have an accident and a throw its always cold in the hospital. Best wishes and Godspeed yall.

    Pre-Op Diets

My surgery date is December 9th. I'm doing two protein shakes a day, and 1-2 cups soup a day. The soups are broth or cream soups low fat. I'm also drinking a lot of hot tea that seems to help best with hunger pains.
