    Clothes I have outgrown

I understand- I have a long history of yo yo dieting and have gotten rid of my larger clothes in the past swearing "never again" only to have nothing to wear once I started to gain it all back. I keep reminding myself that the difference this time is that I am not trying to do it on my own through sheer willpower but haver he sleeve as my tool to help me. My plan for my too-big clothes as I lose: 1) donate casual clothes to local charities 2) sell upscale/professional clothes to plus size consignment store or on eBay 3) participate in the clothing swaps at my monthly bariatric support group
  3. Hardest for me is adopting a regular exercise routine- it's something I just don't enjoy and that makes fitting it in to my super busy life even harder. I have tried every kind of exercise under the sun and the best I have found is some activities I can tolerate/don't dread (walking, gentle yoga, water aerobics) but there's nothing physical I seem to actually enjoy or look forward to.
  4. I have some size 22 pants and jeans- are you still looking?

How do I know how much to eat?

For me, 1/4 - 1/2 cup total per meal. I tend to just eat one item but if I wanted to eat more than one I would divide up those ounces between them. I can eat more if it is very liquidy like yogurt or broth.

How much time off of work?

I took 2 weeks and in retrospect should have planned to only work half-days for my first week back- jumping right back in to full time (high stress job) was tough!

    June 30th Surgery Date

Tomorrow will be 1 month- wow. I am doing well- 25 pounds down (including 10 pre-op.) @@Bratface1005, I also get hungry between meals and need to eat every 2 hours. I see the nutritionist this Thursday and I am curious to hear if she thinks that is ok. I am so done with protein shakes and really looking forward to being able to expand my diet soon so I won't need to rely on them as much. I hope everyone is doing well,

    SONIC DIET COKE SLUSH SCAM!

It is possible to get a sugarfree slush at Sonic- the trick is to ask for an "add in" flavor ONLY with no slush syrup base. I did this with the sugarfree mango and the sugarfree raspberry and they were yummy. The add in favors are colorless so it looks like a cup of plain crushed ice but it is delicious!

  11. I am jealous- my surgery was June 30th and I am only allowed smooth, runny purees for another week! I will be so happy when I can eat soft foods!

hi buddies. I am doing ok but to be honest a little frustrated that I haven't lost more weight- under ordinary circumstances I would be extremely happy with 11 pounds in three weeks but post-surgery it feels a little underwhelming. I guess I have heard lots of people talking about losing 20+ pounds the first month and I got my hopes up. Doing ok with purees- tried to branch out a little bit to things that are still smooth but thicker and I definitely can't eat more than a couple of tablespoons of them- tried a teaspoon of creamy peanut butter mixed in sugar-free pudding and (separately!) hummus. I was relieved that they didn't make me nauseous, just got full super fast! Haven't been exercising regularly but I bought a fit bit and am going to start walking on my lunch break- I did two leisurely laps around the outside of my building today and it was really nice to get some fresh air and stretch.

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me. I am on purees for another 10 days. It is definitely getting boring and I am a vegetarian so that makes it even more restrictive. Lots of Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta. I still need 2 shakes a day to meet my protein goal. I have noticed that I am able to handle slightly thicker textures now- still no big or solid chunks but I have "graduated" from baby food applesauce to regular applesauce!
  15. I am 2.5 weeks post-op. Went back to work on Monday. Monday went fine, yesterday was ok but I had a lot of trouble staying on top of keeping hydrated and I was really worn out by late afternoon. Today was even worse- crisis after crisis which needed my attention. By early afternoon I had a bad headache and felt really terrible and a co - worker took one look at me and told me to go home, so I did. Feeling a little better but still not great. For those of you with very fast-paced, high stress jobs, how did you cope with it when you were first back at work?
  16. It is on my doctor's approved list for the full liquid stage but I couldn't find any appealing flavors that didn't have chunks so I stuck with no sugar added fudgsicles.
  17. I was sleeved on June 30 and was able to comfortably sleep on my belly as of two nights ago, which made me very happy!

    Struggling :(

it's hard to find but Muscle Milk Light Mango-Peach is really good too (it's ready to drink.)
  21. I called a few days post-op to ask if I could use a heating pad and they said yes but not for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. I tried it and actually found it didn't help, but frozen peas on my belly (with a towel in between) felt awesome.

    Puree food recipes

I think different doctors have different guidelines about purée thickness. Mine said it should be dripping off the spoon and that if you have to flick it off, it is too thick.

    June 30th Surgery Date

Welcome @@TheNewJulie! There are about 25 of us on bariatricpal that were sleeved on June 30. Can you believe it'll be two weeks tomorrow? I am doing pretty well- no longer need pain meds, able to sleep comfortably on my side now, and going back to work tomorrow. I am a little worried about getting my protein and liquids in at work but I will try to keep to a schedule so I don't lose track. I am on purees until the end of July. How's everyone doing?
