  1. I forgot to post my weight from this past Friday.... Kidney stones and ruptured ovarian cysts just ended a 6 day hospital visit. Scary stuff.

    Anyway!

    Goal for end is 187

This week I'm down a crazy amount and Friday I weighed in at 189 already. I think it will be safe to say that I can hit this goal!

  2. I cannot eat anything from a Pig... nothing and just about anything made from white flour is also a no go for me too. or anything that has a lot of sugar... and for the record... Bacon was a food group for me... (sigh) but i am 18lbs from my goal... so i am ok with it

Oh that's so sad!! I love bacon and I believe it should be it's own food group. I don't eat it very often, but it's my "go-to" food if we have to go out to Breakfast with friends or family. Congrats on being so close to goal!!

  3. Red meat, Rice, potatoes, just about anything made from flour...breads, Pasta, Desserts, etc....and there are others. I should say, that there is nothing I really cannot eat., it is just that some things are more difficult than others...so why bother... Like pizza. I could eat it, but it would take me at least 20 minutes to get through one slice..so why bother. Same for pasta......Besides, what's the nutritional value???? Why go through all that for something that's not good for me in the first place? I have found that just about all the foods that are not band friendly for me, are not that good for me in the first place...so it's a win-win situation all around..... Because of the band, I eat very little with little or no hunger......and when I do eat, I make good healthy choices.....not a bad life IMO.

Yeah, I completely agree... With ice cream, it's not good for me and I learned my lesson so why even bother? I'm only almost 6 months out from being sleeved so I've only had one or two bites at a time of bread and I haven't had issues. It may be easier if I has issues with bread! ;) ha!

  4. What do you mean by how we throw up? Haven't been sleeved yet and I detest throwing up now and praying I won't after. I can deal with nausea not throwing up

Oh.. Just wait haha! As you can see, most of us have certain foods that make us throw up, but it's not like how you throw up now... For me, it's like you open your mouth over the toilet and it's like a slime consistency just comes out! Not like projectile vomiting or anything crazy! I know, disgusting, but this was one thing I was not expecting after being sleeved! Sorry for the graphic details!

  5. Another thing that absolutely PAINS ME TO SAY, is sushi. It is my second favorite food of all time (next to potatoes, obviously) and I can now eat 2 pieces of a sushi roll. Not THREE. Definitely not FOUR. I have tested this theory many times over the last 5 months and successfully puke every time. The good thing that has come out of this, is I have learned to love sashimi. I am pretty obsessed and I would say I get 70% of my Protein throughout the week from sushi grade salmon from a local Japanese market. Absolutely obsessed.

  6. Funny u should mention barf. 30 minutes ago I just vomited a chicken salad (leftovers from dinner last nite). Not sure why. I can usually eat everything.Vomiting was a normal part of my eating when I was banded (sleeve revision 10 mths ago) but in the last 10 mths, this was like my 3rd time vomiting. It's usually a long, drawn out, painful process since being sleeved, but tonite was like in remembrance of band days. Hope this isn't my future. I'm now drinking chamomile tea to calm my tummy...And I LUV cobb salads...

Hmmm... Now that you mention that... I was at a baby shower the other day and when they served chicken salad, I was less than thrilled because I've never really cared for it, but it was the only Protein option and I felt like I was going to hurl so I quit eating it. I should make note of the chamomile tea next time!!

  7. Raw broccoli, tried it twice , small bites, chewed . Stuck real bad, then it all came up. Not pretty. Not going to happen again, not no way ,not no how !

Broccoli?! That's a shame since it's actually healthy! God was sending me a sign with my ice cream, but BROCCOLI?! Ha! Yeah, walk away from the veggie tray next time! :)

  8. The other night I had a few fried onion rings. Slimmed a few times then threw up big time in front of my grandsons. F**king gross.

That's so strange and I don't think I've tried onion rings, though I love onions. And onions in batter. Lol! I'll have to watch out when I come across one! On a side note- isn't is so strange and fascinating how we "throw up" now? It's not at all like we used to throw up if we were sick... Or had a few too many drinks the night before ;)

  9. Yes, gross, I know. I'm just curious, I have certain foods that make me throw up and it's super annoying! What all foods cause this for you guys? My biggest one is ice cream. Before anyone freaks out on me.... I've never ordered ice cream after surgery, but in group settings, I have taken a few bites. I've learned I can't even take a bite of it without ending up in the bathroom.

  10. My husband is having the gastric sleeve done on June 10! I am so proud of him for making this huge step. We have been married for 10 years and have two amazing children. He has always been big (which has never bothered me at all), but recently it hit both of us that he was at his biggest. We went to Dr. Felix in Houston and he weighed in at 425. Thankfully, the insurance is covering his surgery and we don't have much to pay for out of pocket. I am here to learn all I can learn about the surgery, pre-op, post-op, emotionally, physically, etc. He starts his 10 day liquid diet on Saturday the 31st. Thank y'all for all of the info y'all post. I will read it and I am sure I will have questions. Thank y'all!

Hey there!! I think this is awesome that you are on here to learn everything you can and are so supportive!! I'm only 5 months post op and have been married 5 years, however having your spouse supportive is a must in my book! I have been extremely lucky in the sense that I had an easy recovery and life was back to normal completely for me after 2 weeks (after the first 4 days, things got way better!). Feel free to ask any questions on here and people are more than willing to help! Good luck to your husband! :)

  11. but you have to ask yourself what was going on with you that you loved food SO MUCH that you let yourself get obese. many many people who are not obese LOVE food. they savor and enjoy the food they love, but never eat so much they get huge. its not about "why" did you eat, but how did you get to the place you are right now with your body?

Well I can only speak to myself, but I know that every day (prior to the sleeve), I would skip Breakfast because I wasn't hungry at all, eat a huge lunch because I became super hungry and would eat something like fast food, and then there would be days that I wouldn't eat dinner or if there was a social event, I would go and eat a relatively unhealthy dinner as well. I never had that experience that people talk about where they feel so down on themselves for being fat so they go drive through McDonalds. My biggest problem was for sure the quantity. Quality sucked too, but I do love healthy foods and when I would become fixated on a diet, I was fine with the foods, but if could never get full on the "recommended quantities". Who knows! I don't want to blame it strictly on genes, however my dad is extremely large and my mom has struggled her entire life with her weigh as well. I think the combination of everything was less than ideal for me!
