    Second thoughts on sleeve

I think being positive is the key. Go into it believing you are going to be successful and that it is the best decision for your health.
  3. I'm sorry to hear. I had some pain from my hiatal hernia repair which was at the top of the stomach. I found cold items bothered me for 4 days and now it isn't a problem. I try to get in a lot of liquids to help with the healing. Hope you are feeling better soon.

42 grams of protein in 3.8 oz

I like the Isopure Grape Frost. I found some of the other flavors not so good, but I like this one. 40 grams of protein in one bottle.

    60+ sleevers please help

It is nice weather here in MI. We spent the winter in FL and sure didn't miss the terrible weather. The warm weather makes my arthritis and fibromyalgia better. I'm hoping all that will improve with some weight loss. I've started walking outside, a little each day. I hope to get back into the water in a couple of weeks. I am only two weeks out from my surgery tomorrow so I have to wait for more healing.

    60+ sleevers please help

I'm with you Shersun, at my age, I am just happy to lose the weight and get healthy. I won't like the batwings, but they can be hidden with shirts.

    60+ sleevers please help

I had acid indigestion before the surgery and took Prilosec and still do. The Dr. said a minimum of 3 months. I had a hiatal hernia repair too. I hope to eventually get off of it. With the constipation. make sure you are taking in enough fluids. I was told that can happen if you don't. Hope it gets better. It does take a day or two for Prilosec to kick in. You only take it once a day.

Who is pre-op and who is post op?

I am 65, and had my sleeve done on May 21st. I am doing fantastic. No complications. I followed Dr.'s orders to a tee. I am on full liquids and moving to pureed stage in a couple of days. I have lost 24 1/2 lbs. already! This is the best decision! No regrets at all. No pain from my incisions. The first few days are the hardest of course, but now I am healing well and feeling better than ever.
  10. I have walk aerobics tapes by Leslie Sansone. She has one for seniors that I will do when I can as I am less than two weeks out from my surgery. You do the walking in your home.

    60+ sleevers please help

I am 65 had sleeve surgery on the 21st. of May. I also had a very large hiatal hernia repaired. The only addition pain I had with that is when I first tried cold drinks, a wave of pain hit that area for a second. After 4 days it was no longer a problem. I had no idea I had the hernia and felt I got a 2 for 1 deal! i am feeling terrific and so happy I did it. Don't base your prognosis on younger people. So many of them go and eat things before they should or don't listen to the Dr. I have followed the program perfectly and am doing fine. I have lost 24 1/2 lbs. already. I am ready for the pureed stage in a few days. It is so fun to add back in foods. After the liquid part, anything sounds good!!! This is the best thing I ever did for myself after marrying my wonderful husband and caregiver, who has been so supportive and encouraging. I am diabetic and have gone from four injections a day for a total of 106 units of insulin to one injection a day at 20 units. What could be better for my health!!!?? So excited to be on this journey.

    65 and over

I'm 65 and was sleeved on May 21st. So far, I am doing great! I've lost 24 1/2 lbs. and feel terrific. The hardest part was sleeping in a chair for 8 days because I am a side sleeper, but I have been back in my bed for3 nights and it feels wonderful.

Yoplait greek VS Chobani Greek Yorgurt

I love the Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt. Today I found two flavors I want to try: pineapple and the Key Lime pie. I already like blueberry, peach, and strawberry. I'm so glad they make this yogurt in so many flavors so we have a nice variety. This brand was suggested by my dietician.

    Favorite full liquid food

Is that tomato soup out of the can or with the water added?
  15. My Dr. doesn't do them anymore unless the patient insists because of the life long need to have the band adjusted and not as much weight is usually lost.
  16. susysleever love your response, no face lift indeed.. self-esteem, health, and wellness lift instead!
  17. mariavg, you are an inspiration and I am so glad to hear your wonderful weight loss and new life you have made for yourself.

    One week post-op! WOO HOO!

I've been told they do not hurt. They are cut with a special tool and each end removed. Two people have verified this. I'm not worried.
  19. Week one is behind me!!! WOO HOO!!!! It can only get better from here. I am so exited for my Dr. appointment tomorrow, to get my bandages and staples removed and add some more foods to my list. I am ready!! The hardest part for me has been sleeping. Since I am a side sleeper, I have had to sleep in a Lazy-boy chair. It has been rough, but I finally had a break through last night. I got in four mini naps, as I call them compared to 2 the previous days. It is getting easier every night and I am sleeping longer. I'm trying to move on to my side a little more every night. I also go upstairs when I take my showers and try the bed and see how long I can stand it. I don't want to be in pain needlessly I think pressure points wake me up at night more than the abdomen. I'm doing well in that area.

    One week post-op! WOO HOO!

My surgeon uses two staples on the outside for each incision. His personal choice instead of surgical tape. I get those out tomorrow not the inside ones.
  21. My girlfriend told me about it and we decided to go through this adventure together. She is ahead of me because I spent the winter in FL and her surgery was in March. It helps to have a buddy and a supportive husband.
  22. You did all you could and the right thing. Hope your journey ahead is only filled with wonderful, positive, loving friends.
  23. For sure it is the hernia repair. My Dr. told me it would hurt a bit more when you drink because of it, but mine finally lifted. Hope you continue to feel better.
  24. LaurieC keep sipping. Everyday I am finding my tastes are different. Today it was broth. The first few days I could only do water and Isopure Grape Frost. Popsiclces hurt too much because I also had a hernia repair. Have you tried sf jello? I like that and it goes down smoothly. Please keep drinking so you don't get deyhdrated.
