I had my RNY on 12-21... Down 97 lbs, CW is 157. I'm ready to be done but doc says I will probably lose a little more. I'm happy with my size, health, etc. don't want to lose much more and then have saggy skin etc. but I'm not complaining...health issues have resolved so I'm grateful.

I want to be able to eat normal, healthy foods and still have treats, etc in moderation. It's not about denying yourself all previously eaten foods. Went out tonight with my husband and friends for Japanese. I had a kids shrimp hibachi dinner, no rice or noodles, just shrimp and the veggies. I had a few bits of my hubby's salad with ginger dressing. It was delicious and I brought enough home for lunch tomorrow. I've lost almost 90 pounds in 6 months and less than 10 lbs from my goal. I'm very happy with my progress and proud that I can go out and find things that I can eat and still feel like a normal person. It's tough to not be able to go out with friends and family in there beginning. I do my research before I go out so I know that there are things available for me to eat and enjoy.

Mine stopped falling out after about 4-5 weeks. Mine is thick too and no one else even noticed. Keep in the Vitamins and Protein and it will be fine. You look great, congratulations on your success.

I have a lot of the same issues, stricture, nausea and vomiting, etc...My surgery was 12-21 and I just feel like I am eating semi normal. What does work well for me with good protein amounts is the Quest bars from GNC . I like the vanilla almond and the coconut...not to sweet and go down easily. I lived on smoothies for a long time that I made with Greek yogurt, diet cran grape, frozen strawberries and ice. Sometimes I added a bit of protein powder if I though my stomach could handle it. I buy the plain light Cabot Greek . 20 grams a cup. I make the smoothies at night and freeze them so I can ear them like a sorbet. They were my lifesaver for many months, You are not alone in your challenges, hang in there...it will get better

My husband does. That's the recommended amount of vitamins from my doctor. The calcium is a wafer especially made for bariatric patients.

My surgery was 12-21-13. I lost a lot of hair last month but it seems to have stopped. No way I could eat the amount of protein I'm supposed to. I have to make a protein smoothie with Greek yogurt, fruit and protein powder, then still have to eat a protein bar daily. Most of the time I don't want to eat much at all. Drinking is ok, just have to remember to do it. I've lost around 85 lbs...about 10 more and I'll be in a normal weight range. It's been hard, no way around it. But the benefits are so good. My health problems have almost disappeared...I would do it all over again.

That would scare me! I'd call the dr too, just to be on the safe side. I get nervous anytime I have a belly ache or pain. Does anyone else have just an uneasy kind of feeling in your stomach? I don't really know how to explain it just doesn't feel right and it's always there. Dr can't find anything wrong but it's like just a blah feeling, maybe that's why I have this aversion to eating food most of the time. I'm grateful for the weight loss but I'm ready to feel normal again.

Forgot a big part of my smoothie...duh..frozen strawberries...my nut ok'd the stevia...the lemon juice and stevia combined help give it a strawberry lemonade sort of taste. Sometimes I add a scoop of unflavored protein powder and the lemon juice masks most of that nasty taste...unflavored does not equal untasted! I use Cabot light plain greek yogurt and a cup has 20 grams of protein....adding protein powder gives another 10-20. I just experimented until I found what tasted good to me. I also make it with no ice and freeze it in containers to eat like sorbet. I take one to work in the mornings and eat it as it thaws.

It really does make you feel very isolated. My husband doesn't understand how I can eat something one day and the next day it makes me gag. Some days I eat fine and some days I eat nothing and have to force myself to drink. My staples are Quest bars and a smoothie I make with Greek yogurt, diet cran-grape juice, lemon juice, ice and stevia. It gives me 20 grams of protein plus lots of fluids since I tend to dehydrate easily. I wish I could get in a good pattern of eating regular food but it's just not happening for me yet.

I'm feeling really stupid right now. My husband and kids went out for Cinco de Mayo. I didn't go because I wasn't feeling up to eating Mexican. I went to the grocery store to get some stuff for my sons teacher for teacher appreciation day tomorrow. Had to pass by the bakery and couldn't, or didn't, pass on an apple turnover. Then...proceeded to eat half of it on the car...a big no-no. Came home just in time for it to make a return engagement. Why did I do this to myself? I knew I couldn't eat it? I knew what would happen. My asthma is in high gear and I have felt crappy for a few days. I'm having major aversions to food. Most days I just want to drink a protein smoothie, eat a protein bar, and be done with it all. I've lost 78 lbs since 12-20 so I know I'm doing something right. I just wish I could get back on track with eating regular food and liking it.

I'm 4 months out and I have lost 76 lbs. The first couple of months were rough...ended up with a stricture that had to be dilated. Since then, all is good. I'm feeling better, eating more variety of foods and have more energy. Simple things like walking up the stairs to the movie theatre, walking the neighborhood with my kids, even BATHING SUIT SHOPPING! Never thought I would enjoy that:)

I had restless leg syndrome for a couple of years before the surgery... Mine has resolved since losing weight. What helped me a lot was soaking in a hot bath. You can get a prescription for Ropinirole, works pretty well. Good luck:)

My husband and others tell me the same thing. I really don't have control over how much I lose at this point. I'm following instructions and expect to lose about 20 more pounds which would still have me weighing 160 at 5' almost 7". It's a daily struggle to find what I can and cannot eat as well. I make my own smoothies with Greek yogurt for breakfast every day at about 20-25 grams of protein and do at least one Quest bar for another 20. Then try to get the rest from food. As appealing as food was to me before, it's just as non- appealing now. Seriously I could go all day without eating anything and I would not care. I have found that steak cooked medium is the easiest meat for me to eat and digest. Chicken if it's very moist, ham goes down pretty well too. I can eat a kids chicken burrito from Moes with no rice. But it's a daily chore to figure out what will work and what won't. I had some chicken salad from a neighborhood restaurant that was so good...very little mayo, just enough to wet the meat, dark and white chicken, chopped celery and chopped red onion. We go there a lot and I'm going to ask for the recipe. I'm hoping if I tell the chef that's one of very few things I can comfortable eat he may take pity on me and give me his recipe. You are not alone. The emotional part of this journey has been so much harder for me than the physical part. My kids are 17 and 10. Since my husband and I have been together, we eat dinner at the table, no tv, every night. My kids rarely eat in the living room in front of the tv....Super Bowl, New Year's Eve and other rare occasions. For the first 2 months or so, I did not eat with them nor sit in the kitchen while they ate because just the smell made me nauseous. That is the time of day that we spend the most time with each other actually TALKING to each other. It was depressing to miss out on that and I was felling pretty sorry for myself. It feels good to be back in the swing, even though I don't eat a lot at least I am there with my family. Food is so much more than just food. The social part of it is so much bigger. Every family function revolves around food and you never realize what you miss out on when you cannot be around the food.

Had a nice NSV today... Needed shorts as none from last year fit. Tried Target first but nothing was fitting right and I didn't want to spend a lot. Headed to Goodwill...found 3 shorts a skort and 3 shirts. Shorts are 12 in name brands and 14 in Walmart/ target brands. I about fell over! Last summer I was wearing a very tight18 only cause I refused to go up to a 20. Shirts are all size L from anywhere. Feels nice to shop from regular sizes again. I never thought that would happen. Sometimes I still can't believe it's me when I look in the mirror.

    Getting in the protein?

I bought unflavored from GNC. There is still a taste to it but I started by using 1/4 of a scoop and gradually worked my way up to 1/2 in a smoothie. Still not my favorite thing to taste but it's tolerable and the other things in the mix sort of mask most of the taste. I'm at 3 1/2 months and just the last couple of weeks feel like I am on track for protein and food. It's a process, give yourself time to get there.

    Getting in the protein?

I make a smoothie with a cup of plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 scoop unflavored GNC protein powder, frozen strawberries and diet cran-grape juice. Sometimes a splash of lemon or lime juice. I make them and put them in my freezer. Take them out and eat with a spoon as it thaws. I make it in the magic bullet mugs and one mug has over 30 grams of protein. I do 2 a day and they it's easy to get the rest with food. I love the quest bars too. I keep one or two in my purse all the time.

    I want to cry

I had the same thing happen. Mine was a stricture. The swelling was from all the vomiting. I had it done almost 3 weeks ago and I have been feeling great, eating REAL food and no nausea. The dr. did tell me if I ever had vomiting and nausea again to stop eating food and go to liquids til I call them and come in. I can tolerate having the procedure done agin, it was no big deal. The nausea and vomiting was horrible!
