    Defeated

You can do it. Do whatever it takes to get qualified. I wish I had hoops to jump through, instead, I forked over $19k to get the sleeve - miraculously most objections faded away when I handed over my cold hard cash. You can do this. I dropped 24lbs prior to surgery. Thank you for sharing.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

HW 334 SW 310 12/24 CW 292 - 18lbs in 15 days - holy crap I actually giggled and felt guilty when I saw that weight pop up. Reweighed twice more to make sure it was real. So of course I am now waiting for the stall to come.
  4. Amen! 14 days post-op. I was just commenting to my family I missed pigging out. I am bored and agitated from some work stuff. It is painfully obvious I would stuff at times like these to eliminate the agitation. Beautiful oblivion stuffing myself gave me but the repercussions were killing me. Hmm, maybe this is an opportunity to work on me and dig into the emotion/agitation. Or I can strangle my boss. Choices! Damn emotions.

    5:2

I would not call it a fad diet as much as an advance protocol for fat loss. Intermittent fasting has been around for some time. 5:2 is the latest iteration.

    Reading List

I remember when I lent a friend the GCBC book. She was mad when she realized exercise causes hunger so the efficacy of exercise to lose weight is very poor. She rejected it and went on a Pasta diet....... *shrugs* :-)

    Honest Answers Only!

There is no evidence preop compliance has correlation to post op success (per NUT and Surgeon) or failure. That said. Will you cheat? That answer is YOUR answer.
  8. You have succeeded.....thank you.

    I miss my fruit!

The good news is the current best research is working its way into NUT's and surgeon recommendations. Dr. Atkin's was controversial......30 years ago...... there is no controversy we now know that carbs stimulate insulin response which stimulates fat storage. Fruit has enough carbohydrates that for some this is a problem. If you can tolerate fruit fantastic for you. That said, if you do not have diabetic issues whatever long-term solution you can live with forever is what is needed for you. For me staying in ketosis is a requirement. Fruit except in extreme moderation will never be on my daily menu of what I eat.

    Recovery time...

I will say that 1 week would have been rough for me in that I needed my nap-e-poo's in the afternoon. I was tired late in week 1, early week 2. I am now at the end of week 2 and am feeling anxious to get back to work. So, for me, I think 2 weeks is going to be ideal.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

HW 334 SW 310 CW 299 Surgery Dec 24 I am pleased with he progress so far. Adjusting to puree real food has been eye-opening. The tiny amount of food is still difficult to grasp for me. Working on it. Working the sleeve. I trust this will work if I work it.

    Cheated?

If you have to cheat I would suggest waiting 4-5 months so the healing internally can be complete. Cheating on solids now can have dire consequences.

What To Eat And What Not To Eat That Is The Question?

The body does not require carbohydrates to live properly. The body does require Protein and fat. That said, if you do not have any diabetes or pre-diabetes carbs are not as critical to restrict. Atkins bars are tricky. They contain sugar alcohols and according to Atkins diet planning do not count towards carb count.....neither does the Fiber. I find sugar alcohols do count towards my carb count as well as provide side effects that cause me uncontrolled diarrhea. If your NUT is one you trust....trust. If not, find another that is less Atkins in his/her approach. I did spend quite some time eating red meat only and lived just fine on ZERO carbs for over a year. it is really what you can modify in your diet and live with LONG-TERM. Otherwise it is nothing but a quick fix that will not be followed and weight regain will occur. I know all about this.
  14. Have you had your body fat measured? Many people believe they need to lose a lot of weight when in fact they do not. Bodyfat% is the best indicator for your progress not scale numbers. No matter what I hope you find peace and happiness within you so you feel contentment.
  15. Highlighted for emphasis for those in week 1 post-op. Fantastic way to look at it.

    What are your daily numbers?

    Last 4 days average Calories 729 Carbs 48 Protein 110 Fat 11 Fluids: 86oz

    My latest love: Fruit-Infused Water

Try dried fruit and such.......err, wait, that's tea!
  18. So far, in my morning daily yogurt I add Metamucil clear and miralox (dependent on consistency of the last BM). This seems to have helped with regularity. MOM with a glass of Water chaser should do the trick. Water is needed for MOM to do a cleaning on the system. What a shitty subject.
  19. And then there were the pooped metal staples.
  20. I have had good luck with no leaks with these. http://www.amazon.com/Pack-Sundesa-Blenderbottle-Blenderball-Blue/dp/B00906HUJE/ref=sr_sp-btf_title_1_4?s=sporting-goods&srs=2583509011&ie=UTF8&qid=1388754071&sr=1-4&keywords=blender+bottle

    Artificial sweetners

I will have to disagree with your target of a good number. Lower is not better necessarily. If one could maintain blood sugars and insulin in perfect balance it would be more like 95-100. This will get you off the insulin/glucagen blood sugar roller coaster. But don't believe the internet - read yourself in http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/book/10.1002/0470862092 incidentally, thinking about your favorite meal when you close your eyes and smell the food - can cause an insulin spike which induces hunger. So, it is logical artificial sweeteners will have an effect on your blood sugar/insulin response but most importantly can stimulate hunger pangs......crap. that said, with me eating broth, Jello, and yogurt right now. Artificial sweeteners are in my diet at present. Maybe down the road 6 months I will get back to not using AS.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

HW 334 SW 310 CW 305 Off all three diabetes medications including insulin. Off three blood pressure medications and two other medications. Number of pills take per day reduced by 60%. This was my straw that broke the camels back. When I put all of my medications in a walmart bag the bag burst from how many there were. That was my wake up death is knocking and I need to do this WLS. Don't get me wrong, cosmetic weight loss for looks and getting into normal clothes will be nice but reduction in health issues were the #1 goal for me.....and it is working already this early on my journey.
  24. Thank you for posting. I appreciate these insights. I need to deal with my OCD/psych issues as spending a great deal of time mentally straining once at goal is not living life to the fullest for me. I know if I do not try to address this as I lose I will be in this same boat. How do we fix this?

    How bad is the nausea?

I do have lots of gas. It is not painful but it is loud in the belly and coming out of the backside. The releasing of gas has been loud and voluminous. I look forward to that decreasing.
