    Ditching the protein shakes

Thanks for the replies. I'm only a little over a week out and hoping someday i will get to the point where shakes are not needed. I know that is far away for me! I really can't stand the shakes, they make me gag. Keep my fingers crossed that the protein bars sit better with me when I get to the stage that I can start having them.

How much time off of work?

Had surgery last Thursday and feel like I could have gone back on Wednesday. Doctor said I need to take two weeks, but I'm hoping I can go back next Tuesday. Have my follow up appt on Monday. Getting bored at home!

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

Was sleeved on 7/24. Started full liquids on Sunday. TMI issue, but since starting the milk protein shakes have had bad diarrhea. I can't tolerate the unflavored protein in clear liquids or shakes made with water. Anyone else have this issue? I've never had an issue with milk before. Lucky me
  4. I must be the odd ball here, I can't stand the unjury brand. Ordered the sample pack and tried the chicken soup, strawberry, vanilla and mixed unflavored with crystal lite. There is a smell to all of them that makes me want to gag.

    Gastric sleeve

Had surgery on 24th too. Felt great Friday when I was released but was very nauseous yesterday. Had buyers remorse couldn't get any clear protein drinks in. Started protein shakes today and feel much better now. Amazing what a difference a day makes. Hang in there. We'll get through this

    Trouble swallowing pills?

I was sleeved yesterday and last night they started to give me pills for pain. Came home today and was told to continue to take all my medications I was taking before surgery. Have downed about 6 pills so far. Just be careful how much water you take it with. If intake too much water with the pills it feels like it gargles going down and then I have to burr. Hoping taking the pills gets easier soon.

    Looking for July Sleevers!

Cards fan, I was sleeved yesterday too, surgery time was 7:30 and I was discharged at 10am today. My stomach is more gassy and sore today. I'm on Clear Liquids until Sunday, then I start full liquids. Trying to get some Protein in since I got home, it's a really slow go. I'm glad to be home, hardly slept at all in the hospital. Hope you get released soon. I had my husband bring a pillow when he picked me up today, it was a real lifesaver for the ride home. Good luck to you

    I Really Don't Get It

I've only told a couple people about my surgery so I have not heard this yet. However I'm glad I've seen this post so I can plan my reply. Im thinking of going with "they probably gained it back because they were a negative Nancy like you"

    July 24th Sleevers!

I know what you mean, my days at work have been dragging! My 13 year old son tells me all the time that I'm impatient so this is really torturing me, lol.

    No pre-op diet.......

No pre-op requirement here either. Was told to eat light for 2 days prior to surgery. Of course nothing after midnight the night before. My surgery is Thursday and I tried to do all liquid yesterday and broke down at dinner time and had two slices of ham and cheese and a yogurt. So today I had a shake for Breakfast and brought yogurt and Jello for the rest of the day, I'm going with the eating light plan instead of all liquid since I have no requirements. My friend had the same surgeon and she ate everything she could right up to the night before her surgery and didn't have any issues. Not sure why there is such a difference in requirements by surgeons.

    July 24th Sleevers!

I'm July 24th too, glad to find more people with this date. My doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet but I'm going to start shakes for Breakfast and lunch tomorrow and then do all liquid 2 days prior to surgery. I've been having so many food funerals I need to do it to get ready for the big change in eating!

    I think I have bronchitis

I've get bronchitis at least 1x a year and always need prescriptions drugs to make it go away. Usually an antibiotic and a steroid (to open up the lungs). I'm very surprised your pcp didn't want to see you. If you don't get any better in the next couple days I would highly recommend going to see the pcp. Bronchitis can linger on for weeks, especially if left untreated. Good luck.
