Yeah I know we're only supposed to post before and after pics to inspire people but we got dressed up for our thanksgiving dinner and I want to share those pics so I'm starting a thread (I mean, I could make up some BS reason but really the truth is I felt good in my dress and I want to share it. and i love my kids. and my husband looked great).

Hi all, I am new here I am from Southern Jersey, Glassboro area. I am pre-op still going through the evals and nutriction classes, although I am over 1/2 way thru all that and my tentative date end of Feb. 2014.

These are exciting times ladies. @ rpcamper thanks for the info, I will check it out. Yes, my family is extremely supportive and excited about this. My husband is amazing! I have 4 kids and we are open about everything. They know how unhappy I've been for a long time regarding my weight. They also know this surgery could help resolve my health issues before they become more serious. I too am not mourning "my last" anything. I always say it truly could be "my last" everything if I don't get control of my weight and health. I'm excited about my upcoming new lifestyle and plan on giving it my all! I'm scheduled for Feb.24 th. You're the first person I've heard that's scheduled in 2014. Who is your surgeon and which procedure are you having? I'm going with the VSG.

Read it all and it's better than good. It's a must read and I'd recommend it for everyone from the Very Start of the process. While I need to go back and Dive Deep into the book, I have two first suggestions based on a lot of questions that I've seen on our VST board.
1. Please consider expanding the Pre-op medical preps. Here's what I mean... go into more detail about what exams and tests "might" be required for insurance or the surgeon. Descibe them from the patients perspective. Might need to be a page for each test.. Consider including:
Pulmonologist examination and clearance: Exam, Pulmonary Function Test, Methacholine Challenge, sleep study (and what if you are positive for OSD (sleep apnea) and require CPAP.
Cardiologist examination and clearance: Exam, Resting ECG, Stress Test, Pharmacological Stress Test, BNP.
GI evaluation and clearance: Colonoscopy, Endoscopy
I am SURE that there is/are more but at least it's a start.
2. There are SO MANY questions about what Protein suppliments are out there. Consider adding a comparison table or nutritional values and costs, (maybe the results of a member poll re taste) etc. of as many of the "acceptable" ones as you can. Shoot, might even allow products to pay for a One Page ad/information sheet. (If they were smart they'd send free samples to folks who bought the book).
