  4. Hi. I was scheduled to get banded on 08/06/07. I went under and all just to wake up to find out they couldn't do the band. They said something (im still not sure what) was torn and my stomach was sitting in my chest. They had to move my stomach back down in my belly, sew up whatever was torn, and then woke me up to tell me i only could get the gastric bypass or the sleeve. WHAT??? I was soooo pissed. I just got out the hospital today & told them hell no. They were not taking back into surgery to do nothing. You tell me they didnt see where my stomach was sitting after all those freaking tests i did? I've decided that it wasnt meant to be. Maybe later on but for now, im just chilling & will watch what I eat. After all, the 2 week preop diet taught me a few things.
  5. Hi. My surgery is on August 6th and Im struggling with my pre-op diet. One thing we must keep in perspective is that the band is just a tool to assist in weight loss. Basically, we have to change the way our minds see food. You know, all those bad habits that we've have learned for just our entire lives, must be discarded & replaced with new, healthier habits. :hungry:At times I feel I will fail. When u find yourself getting back into old habits, just take on old picture & reflect on how dissatisfied you were with your health at that time.:whoo: Almost immediately you will realize food is not worth shortening your life for. Sorry I dont have a quick fix for you, only because there is no easy way. Gotta get in the brain & think differently about food or it's almost guaranteed that you will fail.
  6. Hi all. I'm scheduled to have my lap banding surgery on August 6, 2007 and as each day passes, my nervousness worsens. I feel confident that all will go well but the more I think about it, the more nervous I feel. I go to sleep thinking about it & end up dreaming that I'm on the table.:notagree Does anyone else who surgery is near experience the same fears. The only surgery I ever had was a tonsillectomy a few years ago and I freaked out for that too.:heh: When I met with the anesthesiologist, I told him to be sure to hit me with the meds asap...LOL. My surgery is Monday, so I'm looking forward to Tuesday. Wish me luck:)
