  1. The odds are you did no damage.Don't panic. You just don't want to get anything caught in that staple line and cause infection. I would steer clear of any fruit just now though seeds or no seeds it is very fibrous and your stomach just can't and shouldn't be doing that kind of work just yet. Most programs say no fruits for at least a month or two some as long as six months..

Oh ok thank you. I was having trouble pre op with my Protein and my nut said I could add fruit when I'm post op but did not specify. What your telling me makes sense though. I'll just stay away.

  2. Ack!!! No strawberries!!! The seeds! The healing stomach! The staple line no bueno :( Sorry girlie...

Oh no!!! I had no idea now I'm scared I ruined it or caused damaged. I blended 3 strawberries in there with my 4 ounces of protein!! Do you think I caused severe damaged? What about mango pieces blended do you think that will be better? I'm scared now.

  3. Thank you all for your replies. I added strawberries to my Protein because it's disgusting w/o and helped me drink it. I've been drinking a ounce of Water every 15 min and walking every hour for 5-10min all of sudden I get gas pain but nothing I can't handle I am taking my pain meds. I have not took the nausea ones because I've been ok w/o it. I'm just trying to stay hydrated and I'll just have some broth when my family has Christmas eve dinner. What there eating I love but I'm not craving it right now I'm just worried about getting better. Thank you all again.

  4. Also, I bought 3 boxes of Gas X strips. The kind that dissolve on your tongue. I've only used 1 box so far, but when I first got home I was taking 2 strips at a time (that's what my nurse gave me in the hospital) to help with the gas pain in my chest. I have gotten to where I only take 2 once a day, rather than every so many hours, but I think it does help clear up the chest pain.

Yea I'm not too worried because at the hospital there keeping me hydrated I'm just going to try my best when I get home. I'm going to buy some gas x strips.

  5. I had lots of chest pain (I think it was air/gas from the surgery). I would burp and hiccup even with the smallest sip of Water. It took me a few days, but now that I am at 5 days post surgery, I am able to drink without any pain (still small amounts), so now I just need to be able to remember to keep drinking to get enough ounces in all day. I was worried about focusing on enough Protein, but I've read that getting the 64oz or more liquids is initially more important if you have to choose one, so now I am going to make sure I get all of the liquid in, even if a lot of it is just water, and once I know I will make the daily ounces, then I will make sure to have some Isopure or GNC lean shake in order to add the protein part of things. Not saying that is the best way to do it, but that's what I'm doing. When I focused on just protein drinks, I wasn't getting enough liquids, I guess since it fills you up more.

When I drink water I feel something that gets tight in my stomach then it goes away. I also get the hiccups all of sudden and I randomly just burp. On my lunch tray the brought me Decaf tea I took a sip of that and it did the same thing. I think I'm just gonna have to stick it out into my stomach gets used to it because I definitely don't want to end up dehydrated. I don't think I'm ready to start on protein today (it's my third day) I'm going to ask the doctor if u could start my protein tomorrow.

  6. I was the same when I was discharged. It was a HUGE struggle for the first week. I found room temp the best and just tiny tiny sips. Couldn't stand anything sweet. Set a timer for every 15 mins and take a tiny sip. It does get better! Three weeks today and I can drink (not gulp) pretty much normally. This too shall pass!

Awesome that's what I have been doing, thank you. Still waiting in the doctor to discharge me.

  7. I have BSBC of MI. I'm scheduled for Sat. I paid. 800. 00 on Thursday at my doctors and they told me the hospital might charge me a separate fee, I don't know why. Today the hospital called ugh to tell me I have a 2000 out of pocket and have only met 500 of it and my insurance pays only 80% of my surgery I have to pay the rest. In the morning they will tell me know how much I have to pay. I'm stressing now over this I hope it's not super high. I met my deductible already.

  9. I never drank CIB....gas-sly...And premier shakes...Could only handle them if I never took them from my lips and just sipped until gone..The moment I took it away from my mouth I would either throw it up or choke on it....I keep it around just in case I am in a bind or sick.... Never been a good experience for me.....

That's exactly how I drink my Protein right now four ounces straight then later on again and so forth. I'm on pre op so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that after surgery.

  10. The Protein Shakes for some people are hard to get down after surgery. I would experiment with flavorings like the Torani syrups added to your shakes.. They are very important to healing. So need to be consumed In The first weeks I got lucky and actually liked the premier shakes.< /p>

Lucky you, I make my Protein for the day and just take sips trough out the day into I'm done with it. I did not think about the syrups. I will look for some thank you.
