    2 Months--Calories?

Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback. In my two months I'm down from 275 to 229. Very pleased with my weight loss so far, and I'm excited to be working out again!
  2. Had surgery Nov 26th and I'm averaging around 850 calories a day now. Is this normal or am I eating too many? Rarely reaching my protein goals, but trying very hard to eat healthy.
  3. My surgery was Tuesday at 8am. I've just been told that due to my limited liquid intake, I'm not eligible to go home. I can only drink about 8oz of Water every few hours. The main reason I don't drink is due to the gas bubbles that occur everytime i even take a sip of water. With every sip comes about 5 or 6 burps I have to force pit before I can manage to drink again (otherwise I feel like I will vomit). Did this happen to anyone else? This just doesn't seem like the typical "post surgery gas" that I need to work out. I walk and walk, but no matter what I do, I can't get this gas to go away!! So sick of being in the hospital!
  4. Can't drink ANYTHING without it causing heart burn/crippling gas pain. Help! Did this happen to you??
  5. Everything has been going really well--except everytime I try to take a drink/sip of anything I get terrjble gas bubbles in my throat/chest that won't go away until I burp like 15 minutes later. Did anyone else experience this type of pain?

    Holy Freakout Batman!

I'm staying in the hospital an extra night. Everything has gone well, not too much pain, no complications, etc. I'm just having a very hard time reaching the recommended ounces of Water and they don't want me to become dehydrated if I go home too soon. Every time I take a drink, I experience terrible gas pains. Thanks for asking! So far, no regrets, just a few bumps in the road.

    Holy Freakout Batman!

I'm also pre op (surgery tomorrow) and am so fearful I almost backed out completely. I know from these stories it will be worth it. Or at least... I'm hoping.

    Surgery In 2 Days

Is it true that post surgery you experience less head hunger? I'm thinking about thanksgiving. I know if I were to be there on this pre op diet I would feel like I was starving and really missing out. Does that get better post surgery?
  9. May surgery is on Tuesday and I'm starting to get nervous... What was one thing about your surgery that surprised you?

    I Just Want To Cheat

An update: I cheated. Sort of. I contacted my nutritionist the day after posting this. She basically told me there was nothing I could do--stick to my carnations and I could add 1/2 low fat skim milk. In the first 5 days of pre-op I had lost 11 pounds. I wasn't functioning. So, against my nutritionists wishes, I added a Protein shake to my diet. I immediately began to feel better. It's amazing what an extra 20 grams of protein will do. Thank you everyone for your support. I felt like a crazy person--why is it so hard to kick bad habits? Do I feel bad about the Protein Shake? I guess. I feel bad that I couldn't follow exact orders. Starting Monday (1 week and 1 day before surgery) I'll go back down to just my Carnations. For now, while I study for my last set of exams at school, I'm gonna stick with the extra protein.

    Any Oklahoma Sleevers

Hey all! I'm currently living in Norman (go to OU) and having my surgery on Nov 26th with Dr. Katsis (through Dr. Kirk's office at Bailey medical in Owasso). I'm curious about possible support groups in the Norman area for post-surgery sleevers? I feel like I won't have a lot of people around campus to talk to about my experiences.

    How Do They Weigh You?

Every doctor is different. I also was around 39 when I started. They let me keep my clothes on, shoes on, etc. it was an electric one, not old fashioned. My surgeon originally considered denying me because I'm only 20 and was slightly under the cut off. After that, I made it a point to never weigh less than a 40 BMI
  13. I am only on day 2 of my pre-op diet. The rules are as follows: 4-5 Carnation no sugar added Breakfast shakes 4-5 sugar free Popsicles/jello Snacks Water 1 cup of milk per day This adds up to just under 400 calories a day. I have headaches and a STRONG desire to eat anything/everything in sight. I have also found that I'm exhausted despite sleeping all the time. I want so badly to have something salty. Could REALLY use some support.
