I feel like the scale is lying to me!

I too use the scale as my enemy or my best friend . If I don't see the scale move as I expect it to I get disappointed .. And yes thoughts of setting comes to mind which I have to control. There are pluses and minuses with writhing often. However, to each his own. What works for one, does not work for another. The best way to weigh yourself is being consistency.. Right when. U get up in the morning , before u have something to eat or drink, and with no clothes on. Weighing at different times of the day ...your wright fluctuates during the day. What I would caution someone is weighing multiple times during the day.
  2. I started eating fruits after 6 weeks. I usually eat two fruits a day. I put fruits in my shake which includes: 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt, non fat 1 cup of lactose free skim milk 1/2 banana 1/2 cup pineapple, in its own juice.. No sugar or fructose added 1/8th t . vanilla flavoring 1 sweet in low Little crushed ice if fruits are not frozen. It takes me about 2 hours to slowly sip my shake. I love it. You can put strawberry, blueberries, mango, canned peaches without added sugar., Cantaloupe. Or any combinations u like. I only eat two servings of fruited day.

    No pastas or breads?

I am allowed to ea whole grains Light wheat bread, brown rice, sweet potato, baked potato, oatmeal, etc. But in small amounts., Of course protein is the priority... My requirement is 65-70 grams of protein per day. That is approx 280 calories of my 800 calorie daily allowance. So the rest are healthy fats and carbs. For breakfast I sometimes eat one slice of whole wheat 40 calorie bread with an egg . I do eat beans on occasion, a small , small portion.. I don't like pasta My nut does not believe in only eating protein as the main source of nutrition. But a good balance between protein, carb and healthy fats. I plan on increasing my caloric intake to 900 in the following two months and 1000 calories the month after. . My goal is get to 1200 calories in 3 more months. I prefer slow but sure .. But 41 pounds is not shabby either . . P.s. This is my journey back to health.. Others , I am sure , have other requirements.
  4. Yes I have started with a counselor pre and post surgery. I also see a nutritionist once a month.. It gives me a place to hash out emotional eating .. My nut will help me with my distorted " diet " ..like all or nothing. My current perception about nutrition, etc. It is the emotional eating that got me obese. Of course, the sleeve is a tool to help me lose the weight and KEEP it off, as long as I stick to sensible eating and exercising.

Depends on your insurance also. My required a bmi40 or above. Some insurances will cover bmi 35 or above if co-morbitites exist i.e. High Bp, sleep apnea, diabetes, etc.

    Wondering

My husband was very hesitant for me to have the sleeve surgery. However, he was supportive when I made up my mind that this is what I want. Basically our relationship has not changed. He is happy for my success in losing 40 pounds so far. He never was negative to me when I weighed over 200 pounds. He wants the best for me ...to be happy, healthy, etc. It is all good.

    Back on track!

Yesterday I posted a new post stating that I had a bad day with food . Your posts of encouragement helped me to plan a better day today..which I had. This a.m, I sat down and wrote down why I was on this journey. ..health, esteem, energy, etc. I also tried to figure out what triggered my emotional eating..I knew I was not hungry but nothing I ate felt satisfied me. I figured it was mostly due to tiredness. I had been traveling for two weeks and went to a training class on an accounting system. I was exhausted yesterday.. So far me...tiredness is a trigger for me to go to food. I was also anxious to start a new part time job. But I have to put things in perspective. I am more important than job and I need to take care of myself first. I also must plan to rest during my busy schedule. Thanks to those who posted on my "help" topic. It really helped me last evening and today to refocus on my weight loss journey.

    NO JUDGEMENT ZONE!

R u sure u can drink a shake the day of surgery .? Why fast the night before if u can have a shake that morning. I would call the dr to make sure. They will ask you if u had anything to drink or eat that a.m. I def was told no liquid or solids the day of surgery. Just check to make sure. Don't want doc to say you can't have surgery .on your scheduled surgery day.
  20. A very good reward. I love flowers to pamper myself. Good for you. And congrats on the steering wheel Nsv.

How important is your goal weight for you?

I set my goal weight what I think is ideal for me . ...140pounds at 5 feet 1.5 , 60 years old. To me that is a reasonable goal weight that I can maintain rather going to what my dr recommended, 115 pounds. I would look sick weighing 115 pounds. I was 142 lbs several years ago and was a size 4-6. That be just fine for me. . I have 35 pounds to lose. I have larger goals than just what the scale indicates, I.e. Discontinue Bp meds, reduce bad cholesterol, and eliminate sleep apnea. I have berm monitoring my Bp without taking the meds and it is normal. I need to go to my primary doc and discuss Bp readings so that we can make a decision if she agrees I should stay off of Bp meds. I take a new blood test next on Monday..so hopefully my cholesterol has reduced. One month after surgery it went from 205 to 166.. But my LDL needs to be lowered.
  23. As mentioned in the above posts..their is no way you can intake the amount of protein that was suggested. You will eventually get to that point , in time. It took me about 6 weeks to get to my target protein gram count. For the first 3 weeks I could not hardly drink protein drinks. So just do what you can .. And not get worried about this .. U r doing just fine. And p.s. Get your water in.

  25. Thanks for all of your support. I need to hear this. And 1 day should not ruin the rest of my life.. It is the all or none mentality that I still have and need to do away with. Again thanks
