  1. I had wls with no regrets. Coming to terms with changing your lifestyle with food and exercise may be harder than expected after surgery for some people . I had a day of awakening , a day of true reality, that I have changed forever.. The day I admitted that my best friend, food, deserted me. ( a week after surgery) It was good that I went tthrough that experience. I wanted to binge so much that day..but I knew physically I could not, and I stayed on. My eating protocol that day. I never looked back after that. I am so happy I had the sleeve. I can feel full again..it had been so long I could felt satisfied with eating a descent portion. I was ápprehensive to have the surgery.it is normal to be somewhat scared. But I knew I had to do something with my many years of weight problems. Yoyo for so many years. You also have to realize some people see a glass half full, and others, half empty , so be aware . I had absolutely no complications. Took me about 6 weeks to eat regular food. Just be patient with the seating schedule. I , myself, had to be on the liquid phase longer since the purée phase was too difficult to handle at first. Be positive in your thoughts..look forward to the future, and keep yourself busy till surgery day so that your mind won't wonder to fear.

    Surgery scheduled!

    Yahoo..congrats..
  3. I agree with 1DAY..eating 1 meal a day is not a good idea in my opinion. Once u start eating reg food at 6 weeks out..you need to listen to your body. I can tell I have enough without eating too much. This is what the nut advised I should do: eat 1/2 cup of food, protein first, veggies second, then if room for carb., eat these as well. I can tell u that when I eat my protein first I get full really fast.. How I can tell..my stomach starts to gurgle a lot , sometimes I get hiccups, and tasking another bite is not appeasing for me. U have to learn to listen to your body. Before I had surgery..I lost the feeling of fullness no matter what I ate, now it is different..which is great.

    Luckysmomma - 1 year later

Concentrate on the positives of your wls and what losing 99 pounds has done to your life , which u have detailed. Maybe it is best that u are not the old you. You stated that you are mentally and physically better since the surgery. That sounds like a happier, more content person. What do u mean that u are not the same person , of course u are not . You made a big change to improve your physical and mental well being. Hope your regrets are lessened.

    Is this too much?

Suggest to wear a different top with your pink jeans. White blouse or shirt , blue designs with a little pink in it. Etc etc. Pink top with a pink bottom is a bit much. But of course wear the pink jean. You are not too old. !!!!! You look great!,,

    The easy way out

The first few days of a pre op diet that is basically protein is difficult ..headaches, tiredness, irritability .. Just hang in there. You will be happy with yourself ..I did have to do a pre op diet. However, I lost 10 pounds right before my surgery. Keep yourself busy ..an idle mind can be dangerous at times. Wishing u the best.

    4 months post op

You look so much younger..congrats on your success. Doesn't it feel good !!
  8. Some pop does not long term high protein intake cause of kidney damage. Breaking down protein in some athletes or a person who wants to build muscle is so high that it causes kidney issues. But st the levels we eat ..70' 80 , is not considered high. Did u google on website..high jptotein and heart murmur issues.

    Congrats........
  10. Doing great.. You took years off of you. I'm 60 years old and my weight Los is slower ..but I am happy with my progress. Keep up the good job
  11. It is normal to be scared. I was before the surgery and I backed out several timers before having the surgery. But my gut ( ha) told me I need do this for me. I would suggest that you go to a hospital that is certified as a Center of Excellence. Go to the meetings that the hospital provides on wls , usually once a month, and speak to those who have had the surgery. How they felt about the dr that did the surgery, how was he recommended, what issues they had after surgery. I have no regrets with the surgery. The hospital, where I had my surgery actually gave me a huge binder with so much info for pre and post op. The eating phases was spelled out in detail . That is important..that u have post op support through your hospital. At least is was for me. Keep us posted on your journey to having this surgery.
  12. Like Erp ..my nut wants me to have solid snacks and to not depend on protein shakes. I eat mozzarella sticks for snacks. Weight watchers brand .

    yo-yo back and forth

I was exactly like u ..I would change my mind not to have it. Then I would change to have it. This went on for about 2 months. What gave me the courage to have the surgery is soul searching. I had to admit to myself that getting on another diet was not the answer. As a matter of fact , I was actually exhausted to start another diet. I just felt overwhelmed. I wanted the surgery to help me keep off my weight..not just lose the weight. I have lost 42 pounds so far and I don't feel like I am on a diet. I eat healthy. Wls a tool to get and stay healthy .. Butwr have we have to do our part to get there with eating the right foods, getting some exercise in. Ps. I saw a physchologist pre and post op to help me with emotional eating. You will know if this is right for you. Ps..I have no regrets...
  14. If u r exercising a lot ..increase your intake by 100 calories and see what it does to your body, how is your salt intake. Sometimes we need to be ok with stalls. Try to be happy with your weight loss...keep positive.. More will come.
  15. I start to hiccup and the food is not appealing to me anymore. Especially with protein ..I get full real fast with chicken, pork. , beef ..feel like a rock in my tummy even if I chew well. I listen to my Tummy now. And it helps before I get uncomfortable. I keep to 4-6 oz if food. So I don't get to the point of over stretching my stomach. If I eat too fast , which I do sometimes, I feel very uncomfortable and feel sick. I need to get a timer to slow my paste.

Ok, about time for another tattoo

Love it terry. What a great symbol. That is something u can look at every day and remind yourself of our blessings.
  17. There is no need for defensiveness. We are only expressing our humblle opinions which is what newbies want. They will eventually make their own intelligent decisions. Can u imagine what harm we are giving newbies when they get on this website for the first time and see arguments and defensiveness. That would have been a big turnoff for moi. We are here to help and I think the newbies are smart enough to know that what we say are our own experiences. They can take or not take what we say. This is not a winning contest as to what surgery is "right". Let us be positive. Let us empower those who are struggling with obesity. I for one have leaned on this website pre and post op, Like the sleeve, this website has give me hope, strength and success. We want that for everyone. It is all good. Now let us move on to helping others. Amen.
  18. For my personal weight loss journey..I had the band..did not work for me..had the sleeve and I have lost 42 pounds thus far.. My other siblings had the band and it also did not work. The sleeve really has reduced my hunger..however, I do see members on this website successful with the band. The final decision is up to you. Go to a reputable dr that is in a center of excellence environment. Talk to him about your situation ..Your expectations, risks, etc. Then make an informative decision that is best for you. I personally don't like statistics to drive me in making a decision. Talk to different people about their chosen weight loss surgery. To me ..weight loss success has to do with comimitment , determination and perserence to get healthy and stay healthy. These surgeries are tools to get there.
  19. Congrats ..you not only lost your excess weight..but u are a physically fit woman running in races. You look so lean and amazing. Now use your sleeve as a tool to maintain that weight loss. . Amazing !!!!!

    Slowest Weight Loss Ever!

Exercise really helps with my stalls.. I'd i don't exercise..I lose so slow. When I exercise the weight drops at a good rate. Don't compare yourself with some who has to lose 100 pounds. Their weight loss will be more rapid. Be grateful for those 17 pounds and see a nut, your dr, and exercise if u r not. It will work. Out in time. Also think how the sleeve will. Help u maintain your weight if u follow the protocol. Of course we can all lose weight..I had the sleeve to not just lose weight ..but a tool to help me maintain my weight. To me slow but sure wins the race. I have lost 42 pounds in all. 32 pounds post surgery.
  21. Reduce your height when they measure your height. Bend a little. 1 or 2 inches effects your bmi. Don't try to gain weight. It is counter productive.
  22. Awesome success. You look great..but like you said living life to the fullest is the best reward to getting healthly ..congrats...

    SABOTAGE DREAMS

I still have these dreams of eating things I should not or bingeing. I wake up and am so relieved, that if was just a dream. It must be my subconscious of fears. I thought I was the on,y one having these dreams.. I am 11 weeks post op and had one this weekend.
  24. I had the lap band 7 years ago. My lapband never worked for me. I never had the sensation of fullness. In Dec , 2013 I had the sleeve and what a difference. For me, I can feel the fullness with only eating a little. My esophagus did stretch with the lapband ..but I was told it will reduce in time. The sleeve did for me what the lapband could not. So I am a happy camper.
