Surgery is at 7:30 tomorrow!
Carlotta1 replied to NewAshes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So happy for u.. Keep us Posted on your progress. I am 5 weeks post op..and my relationship with food is so different. I had one day of meltdown around day 6. Post op. I just wanted to binge on my favorite foods.. I even cried. But after that day. I did not look back. That was my day of true reality. I don't think of food , or obsessed , as I used to be. I have to consciously think of eating a meal..otherwise the day could pass me by without eating. Of course.. I would get weak if I went too long without eating. So now that the holidays are over with., I am on a schedule with my eating. I know u will do great. -
Eating 1/2 cup at 6 weeks out?
Carlotta1 replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
4 oz is what is recommended at your stage.. 3-4 meals per day. I am 5 weeks out. U r lucky u can eat meat. I am not there yet. -
Yes..I usually go to bed around 1:00 every night and around 11::00 pm I seei so many commercials from the fast food industry. That prob makes sense ..they want u to get in your car late at night..go through their drive thru. And eat a 4th meal. It is insane. Food is such a biff affair for all cultures. When I visited Europe I was surprised in Italy and Germany with their love affair of food. I loved the German food the best of the 6 countries I visited .. But omg. ..high fat.

Sorry if this grosses you out
Carlotta1 replied to krysten.warren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happened to me several times. I am 4 weeks post op. -
I start to hiccup when my body tells me when I am full..even before I eat my 4 oz of food. If I take a bite after my first hiccup. The food does not sit well and , unfortunately have to go regurgitate it. ( apologize for the grossness. )

Struggling so much emotionally
Carlotta1 replied to stacey131's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love lisacaron's advice...sit with yourself...get to know who u really r....join hiking groups , etc.. Meet people. Not for the sake of "finding someone" but for exposing yourself to people who have common interest as u do. I. Lost a husband and two years after I wanted to " find " someone.. It did not work until i let it go and concentrated on myself. -
That is ok if u are not ready to post pics. Your story is enough for us. You took the time and gave us "your story" that is so inspirational. You have come such a long way ..in just one year. Be proud of yourself. Seems u r having a more fulfilled life than ever. The additional 100 pounds may take more time and effort.but u have already proven that u can do whatever your mind sets it to do. We are all proud of you. Thanks for sharing ....

I agree. Except for my immediate family..no one else.. Daughters and hubby. I feel ok with this. And we will lose by watching what w eat.. High orotein and exercise. Don't be ashamed. I did this for my sake. ..not to be judged by people who will easily judge me and who do not really understandithe hardships I have been through with my weight for years . I don't need to explain to anyone.

Opinions on Felix spiegel in Houston for sleeve
Carlotta1 replied to kshoemake's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had the lapband with him.. . When I had the lapband, I told him that I don't feel full..was their something wrong with my lapband , I asked. He said go see a psychiatrist. I probably needed more fill. I would never have entertained him with the sleeve. I went instead to a highly reputable dr. In the Houston med center. Also his office staff is less than desirable. Always had billing issues. Not a professional office as the med center. I think where he conducts his surgery is not a center of excellence. Check this out though. -

Stall. Getting impatient.. 10 days in a stall
Carlotta1 replied to Carlotta1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your responses. Yes I need to push through the protein and liquids. 60 grams ode protein is the requirement for me that my NUT gave me as my daily goal. I am 5 '1". Do y'all find it is too little, -
Keep yourself busy. Stay on your required two weeks diet, read bariatricpal everyday for support, minimize stressors, and if u believe in prayer. Pray that all goes well and that u have a speedy recovery. Happy for u.

Carlotta1 replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish I had known that I miss the gulping of Water..I used to love to gulp. I wish I would have known that the food tolerance progression is taking me a longer time than others. I wish I would gave known about gummie Vitamins. I cannot handle the. News I bought at the hospital and was taking my meds. I wish I had. Now about this stall I am going thru. I wish I believed in the sleeve before I had the surgery as much as I now believe,. It is working for me. -
87 Pounds in a little under 4 months. Before/After pic.
Carlotta1 replied to endless80's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh.. U r so right about not encouraging someone to have this surgery. It is all up to them. ... I misunderstood your previous blog. I thought u would discourage them. But , boy oh boy, when they see you results. Awesomeness. -
Wow. That is so interesting. Unfortunately my sleep apnea is due both to my excessive weight and mouth obstruction. I am being fitted for a mouthpiece to take care of the obstructive part of my apnea at a dental office.
-
Oh it is so common to worry.. I worried till they wheeled me into the op room. I did ask for a sedative before the surgery. My thoughts were drastic..But my health was drastic.hbp, sleep apnea, andhighcholesterol.i was so fearful of getting diabetes. So now that I had the surgery,I have no complications and less afraid of future health. So which one do u want to choose.. Scared till. Your surgery.. Or scared for your health the rest of your life. Good luck. And keep us posted. Ps keep yourself busy til surgery date.. It will come soon enough.
