  1. That office had a really fantastic lady doing the insurance named Danielle for awhile. She was on top of everything and so incredibly helpful. Once she passed the torch the insurance process took forever. I was fortunate enough to have all my stuff processed through Danielle but I had a family member who dealt with the new insurance processor and she never remembered anything she told people and forgot to submit her paperwork twice! I feel for you guys! Good luck!

  2. Can anyone who had to get their gall bladder removed post surgery explain what their symptoms were? I'm on my 4th day of diarrehea (as you all wanted to know) and every time I eat it feels like your stomach would if you had food poisoning, twisting and cramping. I have noticed the pain starts on the right and radiates through my entire stomach. I do not have the typical back pain or even the typical sharp pain...just painful all over cramps and the diarrehea. Has anyone experienced this?

  3. Hi fellow Feburary sleevers! I have two questions for you guys. I was sleeved a little over 4 months ago. This past week I've been experiencing some really weird symptoms. My appetite has dropped to almost nothing and I've lost about 9 pounds in just a weeks time. I feel like after everything I eat I'm experiencing dumping syndrome, which I know is a lot less common in VSG. The best way to describe it is- my stomach gets a very mild cramp and I feel like I'm going to vomit. I have thrown up several times this week and yesterday I threw up what I believe to be bile. I feel awful after everything I eat or drink. I get really flush and hot and feel like I just need to lay down immediately. I hear a lot about gallbladder "attacks" but I don't seem to be having the sharp pain that is typically associated with those. I plan to give my doctor a call tomorrow I just wanted to know if anyone was going through anything similar?

Also I've been a little hard on myself lately as far as my weight loss is going. I'd like to know if 76 pounds lost in 19 weeks is average and if I'm on trend. Don't get me wrong losing is losing and I feel AWESOME! I just want to make sure I stay on track.

  4. Althought I'm not sure my nutritionist meant to come off this way she said something as my last appointment that has made me doubt myself everyday since. She said " I could see you going back to your old habbits very easily" I wasn't entirely sure what she was basing that off of-I had my fitness pal open which she really refused to look at and I measured all my food and was staying away from all the wrong things. Since shes said that I've been doubting myself at every turn. She mad the comment that at about 6-12 week out they want you to lose about 50-60 pounds. Well I"m 3 months out (12 weeks) and I've lost 55..but for some reason what she said is really putting a damper on that success. Any body get an similar information from their NUT? I know everyones body is different but is 55 in 3 months considered "Slow" weight loss?

  5. We went to 1 support group out in meridian. It's hard with my schedule but I got a lot out of it. My sister and I are still doing good. I've lost about 55 pounds in 9 weeks and she's lost about the same in 3 (she was heavier going into surgery) the nurses on the 6th floor downtown are awesome!! I'm excited for you!

  6. I dunno how many weeks you are out from surgery but I'm about 9 and my doctor oked alcohol in moderation and even suggested rum amd diet coke for the low calories. Where I'm from, the glass is mostly rum with a spritz of diet coke. If you're not feeling any pain I'd say you're probably okay.

  7. I will be having mine at St. Lukes if it all gets approved....about another month before everything gets submitted to the insurance. I have been wanting to go the the support group but keep having scheduling conflicts for the one in Meridian. I think I am going to have to check out one of these others. We are new to town and knew no one before moving here, so I need all the support I can dig up!

Who is your surgeon? I had surgery with Dr. Valentine in February and my sister just had it about 2 weeks ago with him as well. The nurses on the 6th floor are fantastic!

  8. I'm in boise! Dr valentine did my surgery and Dr Oakley readmitted me into the hospital a week later. My surgery was on Feb 12th. So a little over 2 months out. I had some complications that made Feb and march not so great but doing a lot better now. Down 45 pounds since surgery! The st. Lukes support groups are great, I went to one pre surgery and was thinking about going again.

  9. sugar free Popsicles are what I turn too for my head hunger. When you're stomach is removed so are the enzymes that signal the brain for hunger. I'd take a serious step back and analyze when you're feeling hungry if it's a real hunger or just from boredom or in your head. I have to always stop before I reach for food and 99% of the time it's not real hunger. ...but when I can't get over the head hunger I turn to the Popsicles and they help a lot! Good luck!

  10. Reporting back- the wine went great...I didn't end up finishing the entire glass but pretty close. I like really dry red wine so I wasn't overloaded with sweetness, it went great with my petite fillet! Didn't feel anything more than a small buzz but I did have a pretty high tolerance pre surgery.

  11. Thinking about sneaking a small glass of wine in tonight on date night. I was given the okay and I'm not really a habitual drinker. I'm a little reluctant to ask if anyone has had a little alcohol since surgery just because every forum I've read with the same topic is filled with indignation and it's really annoying to read. This has been been a great group so far so I just wanted to run by you guys what you thought? I figured I'd have a few sips to Celebrate tonight

    ..thoughts?
