CrazyJaney got a reaction from jess9395 in Did people treat you differently after weight loss?
I always say this journey is as much mental as it is physical. People do treat you differently. Mostly better but that kind of pisses me off as much as those that were ignoring or mean when I was big. Shallow people suck. I think real friends stay the same. I think acquaintances might change. I definitely feel like I'm scrutinized and under a microscope a little more than I was. Whatever you do, please stay focused on yourself. I have very thick skin. I'm a nurse manager. I walk around with a target on my back most days. I was already used to "holding my head up and being assertive". It's easier now. But it still pisses me off that size matters. This is a journey about you. Best thing to do is NOT make it about others. You will never please everyone - why even try! Be prepared for comments, good and bad. Having a plan on how to talk about it helps. Being unprepared for the negativity or the over eager-can't-stop-talking about your weight loss friend is helpful. You're in charge - not them! Good luck. It's worth every worry.

I never did a formal 1 year picture. This is a few months before VSG (date of surg 3/13/14 about 330#), and today (13 months post op) 130 gone. 20 to goal. Would love to have plastics someday.....

I had plastics at 11 months post-op, although my surgeon would have been fine doing it at 9 months. If you are 20 pounds from goal, you should be fine for a Tummy Tuck. The general rule is to wait for plastics until you are within 15% of your goal weight. I was 153 when I had my first plastics surgery (abdominoplasty and breast lift/augment) and I am now 130...I see no negative effects from having lost 23 pounds since the date of the surgery.
As an extra note, you will LOVE your tummy tuck results. I have never had a flat stomach- I was chunky when I was a kid, so I always had a bit of an extra pooch. It is so awesome to never be worried about wearing things because you're stomach might look big. In fact, I routinely like to check out my stomach and my brand-new stitched together abs in whatever mirror I happen to be walking past at the time, lol.

You are wise to be sensible about it. I had a LOT of it, and I do look a lot better, but had some complications I'm still dealing with. And I'm far from perfect all over. I looked pretty good in clothes before, and I usually wear clothes, so I was pretty good to go.
One of the plastic surgeons came to our WLS support group meeting and talked about how any candidate for plastic surgery has to have mental fortitude. I think that's the understatement of the year. It's not for the faint of heart. I'm not sorry I did it, but I had to deal with open wounds that I think would have sent me into a panic if I weren't a nurse. It's been 8 months, two surgeries, and I'm just starting to get my energy back. And I'm looking at more surgeries to finish it up. So, thousands of dollars and probably a year and half by the time it's all done, potential long term issues with swelling and numbness......it's a lot to think about.
I don't mean to be negative about it, but just pointing out it's a much bigger undertaking than meets the eye.

I've also lost around 150 lbs. and my tummy looks alot like yours. I have flabby thighs, a saggy ass, breasts that look like I fed all of Cleveland, and a turkey neck. I think about plastic surgery all the time and might have work done in the future. I need a break from any surgical procedures as I've had several over the past two years but I will consider it for 2016 if I still feel the need. I haven't had a flat stomach since I was 16 years old and part of me wants that fixed badly. The other part of me feels that I shouldn't be so critical of myself.
I hope to have a better handle on my motivations next year so that I make the right decision for me and not for anyone else.

Please search for 3 week stall on this site and you will find how common this is.
Also one week with no loss is not really a stall. When you go several weeks with no loss then I would suggest your body might be taking a break. Just keep following the plan and the break will end. Your body is just waiting to see what you will do next.

5'6. My goal is 175. I keep adjusting it though. Not sure where I'll settle in yet. I'm very pear shaped. Harder to lose on bottom.

Not for one minute actually. Not even immediately after surgery. Not during the three weeks of liquids only that I was allowed on my plan, not during the three weeks after that of only soft foods.
Super happy with my decision. Currently 7 months out.
