Band to Sleeve lose more slowly?

EWWW Anytime I get up from the table my 6 year old son says "Are you going to throw up?". I'm so done with that part of my life.
  3. Thanks! I take 9 pills every night so I may be up for an hour just taking them slowly! LOL It would be good if my doc took me off some after surgery.

Band to Sleeve lose more slowly?

My band was removed in April and my sleeve is scheduled for August. I wonder if it's been long enough that I'm considered a revision. I've gained 20 pounds since the band removal so I wonder if my metabolism is normal again.

Band to Sleeve lose more slowly?

That's what I was saying.... Compared to non-banders I think we lose slower. But right now, I'd love to lose anything!

Band to Sleeve lose more slowly?

Was that your first week post-op?
  7. @@shay5413 I haven't heard that our metabolism is different from someone who wasn't banded. Why would that be?
  8. I've read several posts from people who say their surgeon either left more of their stomach or left a larger opening because they'd had lapband. Why is this? Does it have to do with scar tissue from the band? Does everyone have scar tissue? I had my band out in May and will have the sleeve procedure in August. Now I'm nervous that I'll be left with a larger stomach after surgery and that it won't be as restrictive as I hope.

    Larger sleeve after Lapband?

Thank you! You look like you're doing well with your sleeve! Congratulations!!!
  10. Metawnny, do you think you can eat more than you should be able to? I've read a lot of revision patients that say their sleeve is larger because of having had the band. I wonder if having the surgeries a few months apart helps with that.

    Dr. Frenzel Arlington-Dallas, Tx

I've heard good things about Dr Frenzle. I used Adam Smith and I love him. He did my band surgery in 2006.

    Out patient or not

My doctor does outpatient but you're there several hours.
  13. Having scar tissue thus a larger sleeve is news to me. My doctor didn't mention that. I'm having sleeve surgery on August 3rd. But I'm going to ask about this at my pre-op appointment.
  14. I had the band in 2006 and for 8 years I fought with it. When I finally thought I was in the green zone last year it really had slipped. That was the last straw. My surgeon won't do the surgery to remove band and do sleeve at the same time. He said the rate of leaks is a lot higher. So I had my band out in May and am having the sleeve surgery August 3rd. I'm nervous since I've been through so much with the band. But I've read so many posts here from people who love the sleeve. I hope that having already dealt with the restriction of the band will help us with the sleeve.

August 5th sleevers? New here :)

One of the things I like about Dr. Smith is that he was very heavy and had the lapband so he understands what we're going through with the weight loss issues.

August 5th sleevers? New here :)

. I love my Dr! Dr Adam Smith with Fort Worth lap band. He did sleeve on me and takes carecredit. FYI DR. Kim's practice has a 10million dollar law suit against them. You can google. It wasn't dr Kim directly but an associate Dr. that was involved but it is pretty awful case. I am a patient of Dr. Smith's too. He did my lapband in 2006 and my band removal this past spring. I really like him. My sleeve surgery is August 3rd.
  17. Dr Smith is my surgeon too. He did my lapband in 2006, removed my band in April 2015 and will do my sleeve in August. He's awesome.

    August 3rd here
  20. I love this thread. It reminds me that I'm not alone in my struggles. I am starting over as of today. I have the old 4cc band from 2006. My pre-surgery weight was 206 and I'm now at 247. I've been unfilled at least 3 times (once for pregnancy) and each time I gain a little more. Originally I got the band because I wanted to look good and be thin like I was when I was in my 20's, but now I want to be healthy and get rid of high bp, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, etc. Different motivation seems to make a big difference in my mind. I feel more determined because I want to be there for my 6 year old for a long time. This morning I had my first fill in over a year. My band was pretty much empty. So I'm on liquids for 2 days and soft foods for 2 days. Things have changed since 2006 and I'm so grateful to have more information now. Thanks everyone for the support and happy banding.

    Fort Worth Buddies?

Hello! I'm a Fort Worth girl. It's great to see so many of us here. I was banded in 2006 by Dr. Smith. I've been on and off the "band wagon" so many times I can't count. Right now I am 40 pounds heavier than I was on the day of my surgery and I'm miserable. I've been totally unfilled for about a year because i just got so frustrated with my band, but I'm going back in tomorrow for a fill and am going to restart my journey. I've been doing a lot of research on this forum to try to remember how it was in the beginning - how to eat, what to eat, etc. I appreciate having so many great folks to commiserate with, lean on, cheer for and get advice from. Good luck and stay strong!

Is it what you eat or how much?

Debora, I'm with you! I was banded in 2006 and thought the emotional part would be easy and just kick in automagically. But I find myself getting really irritated sometimes that I can't just eat a hamburger or whatever I was eating before being banded. I am starting over with my band. I am visiting my doctor on Tuesday and am going to ask him to let me start over with everything. And this time, I'm going to make sure my head is in it too. Good luck to you!

    Why are YOU Fat?

This is so me. But I can add "I can't stand to feel deprived". I'm so glad this thread is here. I've read almost all 50+ pages and it's helped me to understand my own weirdness. I got my band in 2006 and originally lost 36 pounds. I was 206 at my highest, but had diabetes, high bp and high cholesterol all caused by my weight. But I never really understood the reasons why I got fat to start with. I thought the band would be a miracle cure that wouldn't require me to do anything. I was wrong. I found ways to eat around my band because I would think it wasn't fair to be deprived if I wanted something. I'm not sure where that came from. I'm sure it has to do with growing up without much or not having a father. Whatever. The statute of limitations on that ran out a long time ago and I need to deal with this problem I've created. I got unfilled while I was pregnant in 2008 and just haven't had the heart to get it tightened much since. I'm angry sometimes that I can't just eat what I want. It's not fair. That's the whole deprivation thing I guess. I'm going back to my doctor on Tuesday 9/28/10 to find out how I can start over. I want to learn it the right way this time. I have a 2 year old now and I'm a single mom and I want to be around for him since I'm all he has. Good luck to you all! Stacey

Are there any symptoms with pouch dilation?

Hey Fabfatgrl, Can you tell me at what point in your pregnancy you had your band deflated? I'm having IVF this month and am curious since I've been told you only need about 300 extra calories a day in the first trimester of pregnancy. Thanks!
  25. Howdy Ladies! I'm going to have IVF in August and have a lot of the same questions that y'all have raised. I've lost 30 pounds since being banded. I wanted to lose a little bit more, but now is the time for the IVF! First, I don't know when I should get unfilled. If you really only need 300 extra calories per day then I wouldn't think you would need to be deflated until your second trimester if you are careful to get the right nutrients. Do y'all agree? I guess I'll talk to my doc about it, but wanted to see what everyone else's experience was. I appreciate any ideas or suggestion you ladies have since I'm new to this banding and baby stuff. ha Good luck to you all!
