YIKES!

I had mine done at UW by Dr. Wright. That was, and continues to be, the best experience. Such a great staff and so supportive.

I am 11 days post surgery, and feel great. I can finally sleep on my side again... that is the best. I cannot wait to get to the mushy phase this Friday, but have been doing pretty well on the liquids. I need to focus on getting enough calories and protein - it is just so boring to not have variety, or enough creativity to create variety. The crazy part is the fact that I have the trouble consuming enough. Does that happen? I realize now that I need to change my screen name from YIKES! to something like, 'No Problem'... It's almost as if this band has always been there. Good luck to those of you getting close to surgery!

I was banded 1/30/08, and moved to full liquids on 2/1. I am not hungry, but just need to make sure I am getting enough. I am at about 490 calories today, for the day. I was able to shower 48 hrs after the surgery. It is crazy the different views all of the doctors have with their instructions.

I was banded on 1/30/08, around 3pm. I did so well that I talked them into letting me go that evening. I am having a bit of pain, like I did too many sit-ups (do I really know what that feels like?) - but other than that, am doing pretty well. I had read about the gas pains, and now understand it. I guess, for laproscopic surgeries, they pump CO2 into your body to inflate you... to get around the organs easier. sleeping also sucks a bit, as I don't like sleeping on my back. As soon as I move to the couch, and am able to lay against the back of the couch, sleeping is awesome. I go back to work on Monday. My biggest fear was that I was going to wake-up from the surgery hungry - not so much. My new fear is that I am not going to consume enough. What a good fear.

I too am being banded at UWMC. I think it will be late September/early October. They seem to have a great staff - I am getting anxious!!!

I am working toward the band, with my surgical consultation this Thursday. Wondering how alcohol plays into life with the lap-band. Not that it is a major part of my life, but I do enjoy going out with friends and having a drink. Are certain drinks better than others? (If something is already posted out there about this, I apologize... I did not see it).

I tried Yasmin last year, and I think I gained about 15 pounds in 1 month - total bloating... It was horrible. I went back to Orthocyclen, and that bloating and 15 pounds reversed instantly. I too have PCOS, and am going for my surgery consultation this Thursday, 8/2. I am scared and excited.
