    Just got banded on Monday

hi i was banded 2 days ago....29th sept and i know exactly wot you going thru....it is very painful, the gurgling noises weird...but to me that just indicates Fluid is getting thru my system be it as annoying as it is.....i also get burning pain up to my sternum but have sipped on some anti acid liquid and that helps slightly....havent eaten any food for near on 4 days now and i honestly dont feel hungry. just taken some liquids and finding out which ones seem easier....(forget v8 vegi juice with tomato that an oucher) i know the first week or so gonna be the worse....man im just grateful i woke up out of the anesthetic....that was my biggest fear....and boy did i pray...and im not much for praying but some one listened to me haahah.... you just gotta think of the longer term picture, wot made you want to do this in the first place, for me it was to be around to annoy as many people as possible for longer hahaha no seriously i have a little boy and i dont want him to grow up without his mumma ...so the weight has to go.... just think of it like a painful marriage...once ya get rid of the pain ya fine ahahahahahaah

How did you pay for your banding?

    Im in Australia and getting banded tomorrow....i have gone in as a public patient and it is covered under Medicare here. i have only so far had to pay for dr visits of which a portion is returned back by medicare.... I only had to wait a few months for a surgery date from when i first went to the dr.so this is certainly the lucky country.....to be honest if i had to pay full cost myself i wouldnt be able to get this done....so i am extremely grateful for this i can tell you. now it a matter of saving for any possible tummy tuck might need once all weight is loss....coz that not covered by health cover from wot i can gather....if it is someone let me know hahhaah.... cheers Dee <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" o:preferrelative="t" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><v:path o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f"></v:path><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:lock aspectratio="t" v:ext="edit"></o:lock></v:shapetype><v:shape id=_x0000_i1025 style="WIDTH: 315pt; HEIGHT: 55.5pt" alt="" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:href="http://tickers.tickerfactory.com/ezt/d/3;0;133;1;1/c/128/t/65/s/136/k/4515/weight.png" src="file:///C:/WINDOWS/TEMP/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape> <v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" o:preferrelative="t" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><v:path o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f"></v:path><o:lock aspectratio="t" v:ext="edit"></o:lock></v:shapetype><v:shape id=_x0000_i1025 style="WIDTH: 315pt; HEIGHT: 55.5pt" alt="" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:href="http://tickers.tickerfactory.com/ezt/d/3;0;133;1;1/c/128/t/65/s/136/k/4515/weight.png" src="file:///C:/WINDOWS/TEMP/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape>

    Sept 2005 bandsters post here!!

Hi ya all i am being banded on 29th september 2005 at Joondalup Hospital in Perth Western Australia... My start weight was 136kg current weight is 129kg - as of 25th september and losing still yayyyyyeee Goal Weight is 65kg Surgeon is Dr Kevin Dolan looking forward to it, problee change my mind on day of surgery ahahahaha....its taken 20 yrs of bad eating habits to get to this weight....i had a medical scare at beginning of year and that is wot has spurred me on to lose weight and found this site and one in australia that is fantastic for comments and information. i have told all family ( surprisingly my mum took it extremely well) most of my work mates know and it is good as we are all trying to lose weight and spur each other one etc...added bonus a gym has just opened across the road from work so we is all gonna head over there after work a couple times a week...and im very lucky as i have a special friend ( i call her my guardian angel) and she is going to look after my little boy while im in hospital ( he only 2 and a cutie if i say so myself haahahaha) and im sure she will make sure i dont over do it when i come out tooo haahahah...mind you she also got a hubby and 6 kids herself to look after....bless her cotton sox..... looking forward to seeing ya on the slim side of fat hahahaahahaahah cheerio Dee xx

oh brissy babe......you will be fine im sure....just pray kath and kim dont come and visit ya in hospital hahahaahahahahaah imagine them as nurses hahahaahahaahah run for dem hills girlfriend ahah... if ya hear any one say loook at meee look at mee in hospital....ya know you is booked into da wrong one hahaah.... seriously all the best for your op and i wish you all the best....let us know how you went.
  13. yeh northerner...that what was said on the tv program....can have multiple balloons inserted one after another... the dr on the tv that was talking about it, is one of the first in australia, or in western australia to do this op.....I think it has been done more in america.....we wait for your drs to experiment on you lot and when they got it right ....our aussie drs do it haahahahahah but there isnt much info on the net....could only get a short explaination of one site i visited....even went to this drs site in aust to check him out but he didnt mention it as one of his treatments so it must be really new or his IT gurus for his site aint doing their job and displaying it hahahahaahahaha so if i find any more info on it i will post a thread so it can be a handy reference for others, as a prequel to lapbanding, or as a short term weight loss thingy....better than no weight loss hahahaahah... ok cheers...Dee

    G'day from Australia

vines queen......a walkabout is very rare and only for the aboriginal population....(it a cultural thing for them to do)....when us other aussies attempt to go on a walkabout it usually ends in death....coz most tooo silly to really take note of the countryside around them which is very dry and hot and hardly any Water....it usually a touristy thing to attempt.....2 guys just recently died from travelling on the dirt roads in the out back here in western australia....they perished in the desert with no water ....they walked to look for some but headed in the wrong direction and if they had walked about the same distance in the other direction they would have found some...poor buggers...so it is not a highly recommended activity unless you really know wot you are doing and are very organised with heaps and heaps of water.... aussie food tastes so much better with heaps of good old dead horse on it.....( that tomato sauce or ketcup in your language hahahaahahaha) . cheers Dee

    G'day from Australia

oh for sure rachel.....i think the only aussie thing is the barbeque...which in australia you american girls is totally outside.....and contending with the damn flies and mosquitoes hahahaahah....and ya gotta make sure the meat is really burnt.... it the only time the men folk seem to bond around food.....but they think they so clebba cooking on the bbq....but if ya really think about it it usually us stoopid women who prepare the food, take it out to them, remind them to turn the meat.....as we handing them another endless can of beer.......it is us that brings out the salads, them to put the meat on the table and grunt and groan of wot a great bbq they cooked....then it surely not them doing the dishes and cleaning up hahahahahaahahah Men ..... that about the only aussie meal i can think of......like Rachel says heaps of asian/indian and italian food here in aus.... we aint all like crocodile dundee.....hahahaahahah
