Hello All,
As I’ve been spending some time back on forums choosing my surgeon for a Tummy Tuck, I thought I’d stop by and donate a little payback by answering some of your questions (to the best of my ability).
As seen above I used Dr E Ortiz.
My rating is as follows:
OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 10/10
SURGERY 10/10
RESULTS 10/10
At surgery: 200lbs Lowest: 125lbs Year 3: 150lbs Year 4: 140lbs
*taking off the weight is the easy part ....... keeping it off is the hard part.

Probs the chemical sweetener that's in it.
Horrible stuff. Bad for you and I cant stand the taste of it either!
Try to give up the sweets wherever you can. Best of luck on your journey! (was a piece of cake oops for me)

I used Dr Ortiz in TJ 14 months ago. It couldn't have gone any smoother. No pain, no complications, no complaints. The firstmonth or so was a hard adjustment but only because you are living/breathing food. What to eat, what not to eat. Whats happening so me. I adjusted well. 75 lbs down from 200 to 125. Size 16 to size 4. I found the Constipation annoying but happily its been gone for months. I can eat anything though dense dry food like steak are tough. Probs cause I've forgotten to chew chew chew. I can eat potato chips and Cookies so I they are only in the house on rare occasions.
In a nutshell: ALM and Dr Ortiz rock! But PS: not everything will be perfect. But then nothing ever is.

I recently had diarrhea for one day. It was such a joy not to have to fight it out. Sssh.

White rice=major carb. I'd avoid the rice at all costs!
Anything with that kind of thick texture does stay down well for me.
I'm 7 mths out and have given up rice completely (all carbs really).
Cheers! W

This post gets my vote!
"We gave up eating out completely. I don't usually count calories at home. There is a difference between the good and the bad calories/fat. I eat part of an avocado just about every day. They are really good for you, even though it is high in fat. But, it is the kind of fat you are putting into your body. On my 6 month supervised diet, I switched completely to eating a Paleo style diet. With the sleeve, it has made it incredibly easy to stick to it and eat the healthy foods that I need to keep my body healthy and lose the weight that I need to. Cut out the processed stuff."
I do a Paleo style also (read as: I've eliminated all high carb foods). I also have avocado daily to keep my fats up. I buy my fish and chicken at the grocery store, I don't hunt it down. 3 meals/day come in at about 800-900 calories. I went from 200 to 133 in 7 months. Probably about an average weight loss. Once I get to goal I may add in a carb or two but, do what works for you. If you choose to eat out and/or take away food, personally I don't see that as a healthy choice, but to each his own. Cheers to all! Thanks for the great post Jody!

Hope everyone is doing well!
I am feeling great with no issues at all.
I'm down 55 lbs from 200 to 145.
Very close to getting in that "normal" BMI range
My BMI went from 35.5 to 25.3
Losses: Chest -7" Waist -8" Hips 9"
I eat the pre-op diet of 1 shake and 2 salads w Protein per day.
My tummy loves me. If I go for anything too heavy my tummy hates me.
Cheers to everyone, let's hear your 6 month victory story!!

Hi all,
I am 6 months post-op and doing great. I've lost 55 lbs so far. Now 145 from 200! Still 3 lbs to go to get into the "normal" BMI range but what do they know?? I look fantastic. hehe
Good luck to all and like most people, my only regret is not doing it sooner.
Cheers!!

I had Dr E Ortiz in Feb. No complications, no pain, no gas, no kidding.
I bounced back immediately AND I'm 54!
ALM did a good job. I travelled alone and I think it's a better way to go. It's pretty boring for the other person and you'll hook up with lots of people in the lobby all going to different Drs and hospitals. There's a real comradery.

I put together this original recipe using the premise of raw. However they were pretty moist so I thought I'd dehydrate in a low oven for a bit. However the oven was 300 or 350 and I left them in for an hour Oops. They came out dry but the finish can always be adjusted. They are high Protein and lo carb. My search kept directing me to dates, but the Medjool dates were super expensive and had pits! Dates can also be too sweet (for me) so I went with prunes. Here goes:
1 c prunes (packed down and pitted)
1 1/4 c total: toasted: nuts/seeds. I used lots of pumpkin, a few pecans and cashews, sunflower, hemp hearts
4T cocoa powder
6 sc unfl Protein powder
Process prunes til sticky, add the rest and evenly incorporate (I gave a few pulses but of course it rendered the nuts tiny)
Press into 8x8 pan and chill.
Warning: These are NOT sweet!

Thanks everyone!! Wanting to avoid oats and sugar. Pooky's raw cake idea is exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for the tip! I'll post if I can nail down a good combo of lo sugar lo carbs &hi Protein. Tks. W

I'm not sure exactly what dumping is but I have the same symptoms if I take too big of a bite and/or not chewing enough.

I take Bariatric Advantage multi w Iron is a cap 3/day and Calcium (wild cherry chewable) 3/day. The calcium tastes great. Not sure why so many Docs recommend chewable. That said I'm looking to switch as takng 6 times per day is a pita.
