  1. OMG... I have been telling everyone. Only person I refuse to tell is my mom. She wouldn't understand and it will only infuriate her and I don't need her two cents. Most ppl have been super encouraging. I am the type of person who doesn't really care what others think.
  2. Sometimes on the weight loss journey, the scale stops moving... Our bodies may be taking a break and we just need to persist... Yet sometimes its helpful to mix things up... You Control 3 Variables: Fitness, food, & supplements... Fitness: - There are 3 variables we control: frequency, duration, and intensity - Frequency: how many times per week are you working out? Might be time to bump it up to 5 days per week. - Duration: how long are your workouts? Might be time to bump the workout from 30 mins to 45 mins. - Intensity: how focused and intense are your workouts? Might be time to weave in some interval training, super-sets, CrossFit, etc. important variables are frequency and intensity; high quality workouts 4-5 days per week is a recipe for success - are you doing that? Nutrition & Lifestyle: - Food: getting in enough calories and all your Protein? - Water: being hydrated helps your metabolism by around 25% - Wine? Alcohol is a "volumizer", you'll retain Water and your metabolism will function slower. You may want to abstain or minimize until your goal is achieved, then it's about moderation for maintenance. Supplements: Are you making sure you are getting in your Vitamins and minerals and enough protein? If not make sure you are supplementing.
  3. Esophagus pain.... various things you mention may have have caused some trauma to your esophagus. Surgery itself. Being intubated. The tube they place down your throat during surgery causes a lot of local trauma. It does resolve. Try spraying a little chloraseptic back in your mouth and see if it help soothe it. Vomiting. Your throat is probably already irritated from the breathing tube they inserted for surgery and vomitus has a lot of acid which further irritates the mucosal lining of your esophagus. Dehydration: Causes lack of moisture and dries out your mucous membranes. If your swallow test was normal... just take it easy on your throat for now. This too shall pass. Good luck.
  4. I would die without my Wegman's! Best grocer in the world I tell you! They will make the sushi to order. I can't wait to have it again.

  7. Had my son at 40 and it has been impossible to get the weight off. I am so excited to embark on this journey and even more excited to get back to a comfortable place and be able to keep up with a toddler... it is no joke at 43!
  8. so is rice pretty difficult to tolerate even in small amounts?
  9. I love love LOOOOOVE sushi! Anyone post-op try eating sushi? Is it tolerable? I also have a great love for Indian Food! Sorry.. don't mind me, I am on my pre-op and thinking of FOOD!
  10. OMG! Finally someone who had it! I am so happy to hear that! Thanks for your feedback. T-minus 4 days til I go under.
  11. Mine is also five days away. I am hungry. But excited.
  12. My deepest condolences for your loss. Death of a loved one is hard enough to deal with let alone a death that is tragic. I hope you don't mind but I work in psychiatry and I think you could really benefit from some grief counseling now to get you through this. Please consider making an appointment with a psychologist or clinician in your area who specializes in grief counseling. It may help your tremendously. I am praying for you.
  13. Best of Luck!! Keep us posted on your success!

  16. yES i'm nervous...yes I have had some slip ups and have lost 5lbs... I do get up and drink down a 20oz of Water before the Protein shake in the morning.. all at once... so I think that helps full me in the morning.... but I have been hitting some raw carrots at night....I want to chew something so bad...... We shall keep each other posted... Joy will be back on soon... she was just done this monday... be well. JewelJ my surgeon allows us 1/2 cup non-starchy veggies a day but I eat closer to a cup. I am so hungry. I am down 8-9 lbs already. I miss my glass of wine at night. Lord knows when I will ever get to have that again.
  17. Totally!!! It is going to be like a vacation for me. I want to sleep in!
  18. i mean to say don't let it fully dissolve. Drink it mushy. It a med they usually give for ulcers. In laymans terms....protects and coats the stomach while its in the healing phase. It is a short term preventative thing. Hope my doc prescribes me some!!
  19. ok... take pill break in half put in water dissolve and drink it down... it would fully dissolve. Then follow it with more water.
  20. OMG..those pills are HUGE! I think you can dissolve them if my memory serves me right. Let me look into that.
  21. Five days really isn't that long. The surgery itself causes fluid shift that takes a while for your body to resorb (especially without any drains). Then there is the fluids you are given during and after surgery. I was overloaded with fluids for weeks after my C-section but I do not think I had issues with tachycardia or HTN. So they did not give you a rationale for it when they prescribed you the medication for your elevated pressure?
  22. Hi Curvy: They told us we may not be able to tolerate very cold or very hot liquids immediately post op. I will ask if it would be contraindicated. P.S. I stumbled upon your profile the other night... Amazing transformation!! I love this site!! Thanks
