  1. I am only eating 1/2 c of food at a time and I was instructed to advance my diet as tolerated. I stop eating the moment I feel the slightest bit of restriction and I eat healthy. Every meal is packed with Protein. Maybe I heal better than most? I don't know. I am wondering why I am able to tolerate these things so soon too. I do not get nauseous or vomit. Once in a while I experience a little heartburn but nothing long lasting or intolerable. I want to know if anyone else can as well because I see a lot of ppl on pureed for a while. I am actually glad I feel this good and have lost 23 lbs since my pre op diet. I am not really hungry.

    That awkward pureed stage...

I wish I could breeze thru it. But I was put in the hospital due to my stomach not accepting the new staples in it. It got so swollen that it rubbed against my pancreas and gave me severe pancreatitis. I was actually just discharged on friday. So I have to really take it easy on the pureed foods. Oh no! That is no bueno. Yes... you better take it really easy as I am sure you still have a lot of inflammation and irritation not to mention the pancreatitis must have been no picnic either. Those soups in the blender were somewhat satisfying I wish you a speedy recovery. Feel better.
  3. I tried shrimp already.... I ate about three as well, didn't sit well. I now take imitation crab meat and have to put it in my food processor. Anything I have to chew too much bothers..... makes sense... only 3 weeks out. I am worried I won't lose as much because I can eat a decent amount already.

Surgery was in October, now I stay sick...?

My best friend is 4 year post op gastric bypass. She is having the same thing.... fever of unknown origin... they did find some kidney stones and blood in her urine but her white cells drop and she becomes anemic requiring Iron infusions. It is a mystery to the docs. She has had a million different consults. She has been worked up for leukemia... rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, lupus.... so far everything has turned up negative. I am frustrated for her because she is a single mom with a toddler and a teen and has a stressful job. I wish these docs would figure out what is going on with her already.

    That awkward pureed stage...

omg I felt the same way! I bought dips, hummus and they are still sitting in my fridge untouched. At least I have stuff to offer my guests I hated that phase... I pretty much skipped over it once I knew I could tolerate it and jumped right into the 'soft' phase. Try getting some chunky Soups and putting them in the blender perhaps? I made my mom make me soups... put her to work she loves it.

    Insurance vs Mexico

I have seen great reviews on medical tourism HOWEVER one thing to seriously consider is follow-up care once you return home. If you suffer post procedure complications or side effects the post treatment care will then become your responsibility. Since you do have health insurance.... I think that should be a major deciding factor for those reasons alone. My surgeon has done hundreds of sleeves and I do not think he is less experienced than someone who has done thousands. I was an ER nurse for 13 years and could start an IV on a mosquito. All the veteran nurses would come to me when they couldn't get a line in someone (that had many more years practice). The bariatric group I selected was a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Do your research and weigh the pros and cons. Do not make your decision based solely on money. I am not against Medical Tourism by no means.... I am all in favor BUT the cost difference is not that much. I think the extra money you spend to have the piece of mind of having it covered under your own health insurance is a huge plus.

    Quitting Smoking

Hey Josh....I just text her... she said her roommate knows a really good one and she said she would ask her when she wakes up. They live on Oahu though. Not sure what island you are on. She mentioned he books up quick so an advanced appointment is needed. Get back to you real soon.

    Insurance vs Mexico

Personally I would stay local even if it cost me a little bit more but that is just me.

    Midway progress pics

I carry a lot of my weight in my middle. Sadly, the core is the last place to lose. Still and all, you can tell you have lost quite a bit! Your mid-section will shrink too you are only a few months post op. Nice job... keep up the good work. You are going to be ready for summer soon.

    But where will i sit?

After my sleeve I showed my 3 year old my 'boo boo's' and he said "the Gocker (doctor) fick (fix) you belly?" and I said "yes" and then he asked "did the Gocker fick you coolie too?" Bahahahhahaa. Didn't know my coolie needed "fickin" but apparently my toddler seems to thing there is a problem back there.

    hormones

It is worth a shot.. .read up on it Another nurse friend told me about it. She used to take it and swears by it for PMS. I guess it is rather pricey (??). I remember she said when she didn't want to pay anymore and her husband eagerly forked over the money because he noticed the change in her when she wasn't taking it. LOL

    hormones

I was started on an anti-depressant after having my son because of raging hormones (post partum? Perhaps) made me an intolerable witch. I gained more weight on the med. Now I am more angry b/c I am fat. I hope to wean myself off of them once I loose the weight. Evening Primrose Oil is supposed to help with PMS if you are into more holistic approaches.

WHY IN ALL HELLS AM I BLEEDING?!?!

Sassypants is totally on to something! ... fat cells store a lot of estrogen so perhaps that can be the reason. This is just a guess on my part. You should still make an appt with your Ob/Gyn.

    Just wondering

The sterile field is no where near your face... you seriously can wear makeup. Nail polish will not interfere with the oxygen saturation monitor.... false nails sometimes make it difficult to get on 02 sat if they are really thick. Personally, I wasn't going in to the hospital looking like a crazy person, I used to work at the hospital I had mine done and you bet I ran into a dozen old colleagues during my stay! Bad enough I was 60lbs heavier since the last time they saw me. If you really want to wear makeup I say go for it.

    Just wondering

seriously though... makeup and nail polish... old school rules. That was before the days of O2 monitors and advanced technology. When they had to rely on the color of your nail beds and skin for assessing circulation. The one thing I would highly suggest you do not wear is lotion. You will have a lot of monitors hooked up to you and you don't want to be greasy for obvious reasons. If you feel better wearing makeup have at it! I got a fresh pedicure before surgery too.
