I say get it done as soon as you can! Had mine done one week ago today. Liquid phase during Thanksgiving. No big deal for me. My eating had gotten so out of control, it had to change. Good luck to you!

    Newbie- 4 Days Post Op

At this point, it is most important to stay hydrated. I'm 6 days post op and am getting more and more protein in each day. Good luck to you! And yes, it's a full time job! I'm still sipping, but larger sips now! Each day gets better!
  4. Oh, I feel your pain too. I quit in March when I was admitted to the hospital very short of breath. Diagnosed with COPD. Don't smoke, quit cold turkey. It gets your attention quick when you can't breathe. I still deal with after effects of smoking and will forever. And, yes, I was one of those that thought it wouldn't happen to me.

    Sushi

I'm not a sushi fan, but I've read of people making sushi without the rice? You may want to do a search for that.
  6. I'm sad to read this post. You are an RN asking this question? Sorry, don't mean to be rude. But, really?
  7. We all miss food, I think. I'm sorry you have not been able to follow your pre op diet. I know it's hard. I fell off the wagon a time or two also. I'm 6 days post op. I know if I eat now, I will not feel well. Still on liquids, want real food, but we all have o do what is best for us. You've made a decision to get the sleeve for you and your health. You have to get your head in the game. You can do it! You deserve it. In the long term, you will feel so much better. I've lost 16 pounds since I started pre op up until today. I have said in many times when yes would have been easier. I hope you are able to make good decisions today!

    Hi, New And Confused

Nancy, I wish you the best of luck on this journey. It sounds like you may want to do more research on the VGS and decide if this is right for you. The unknown is always scary. I had multiple group and individual classes with NUT. Knowledge is very important when undergoing something like the sleeve. Read and learn as much as you ca, ask questions. You'll make the right decision.

    Too Much Too Soon?

I had surgery on the 22nd. I'm doing well, but certainly do not feel like cooking or entertaining! I pretty much focus on protein, water, walk....everything else will be there if I get to it. Time to take care of me!
  10. Ii don't have anything to offer, but wanted you to know I'm thinking of you. I hope you heal quick. God bless.

    Hungry All The Time

You should be getting your protein in first, then veggies, then carbs. We're you loosing to begin with? I would hit the protein, water and gym. Just my thoughts.
  12. My insurance required 6 months PCP weigh ins, no requirements as far as how much to loose. Doctors office had no requirement.

  20. I'm having surgery Friday. For me, I just had to get my head in the game. This is serious business, major surgery. You have to work at it. Yesterday, I was at Walmart. I walked in and all I could smell was McDonalds Breakfast burrito. I wanted it so bad. I thought to myself that no one would know. I walked away. I want better and I deserve better. I came home and had a Protein shake with PB2. You have to be honest with yourself. If you want this, it's up to you to achieve it. I'm committed 100%. I will succeed. Good luck to you. Take a good long look at yourself. You gain weight by eating. I think we all know that, but it is hard to admit and change.

    Attitude And Emotions

Great post! Should I be worried? My surgery is a week from today. I'm not crazy. I think I'm nesting. Making lists of what I need to buy, making sure I have what I need for hospital and at home afterwards. Yes, I'm organized. GasX, Prilosec, chap stick, heating pad, ice pack, barf bags (yes, I have them by my bed just in case), body pillow, matching gown and robe set, blender, etc. I've been in clean mode for a few days. I sure hope I don't go nuts after surgery. I will talk to my husband and grown kids just in case!
