  1. This is a major surgery. You are going to be tired. I'm almost 4 weeks post op. I feel pretty good. I still get tired easily. I promise you each day will get better. Just focus on getting your fluids and protein shakes in. Walking is very helpful too. Good luck!

    Pureed food ideas

You will probably need to continue with a few shakes a day until you are able to eat more and get protein in through food. Puréed meats were hard on my tummy at first. I did a lot of cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, Refried beans with melted wedge of laughing cow cheese, sugar free pudding and my favorite, lime green jello.

3 Month Post Op with Pics

    Fantastic! You look terrific!
  9. It's going to be fine, really. I was sleeved three weeks ago and I was as nervous as a whore in church! I couldn't sleep for days. Once you are knocked out, you'll wake in recovery. You will not be in pain, you'll be full of pain meds. When I got to my room, they gave me pain meds ever 4hours through my IV. I was sent home with pain meds and took them for only two days. I had phenegran for nausea. I'm not going to lie, you may be uncomfortable the first week. Each day gets better and better! It will all be worth it. You just need to remember to walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip! Hang in there!
  10. I started mine day of surgery, including the five pills I take non related to WLS. I swallow them, but vitamins are chewable. Once in a while, I throw up, but it's getting better. I'm 3 weeks out.

Our Pets & Our Sore Tummies

Mine continued to lay on my belly. I'm 12 days post-op. She is a little princess and wouldn't have it any other way. She only weighs 6 pounds.
  15. Each Cigna plan had different requirements Mine required 6 months documented weight loss.
  16. The sleeve is a tool. A great one if used correctly. If I eat the right foods, portion sizes, liquids, follow guidelines, including exercise, I am going to be successful. If I eat all the wrong foods and don't exercise, I will not be successful and will gain. You control this.

    Extended release anti-depressants

I've been able to swallow my psych meds. The one I have trouble with is Lamictal. I plan to talk with my psych about this this week. Been able to swallow since day after surgery. Just asked two nurses at work, when you open a time released capsule, its no longer time released.

Wow! 51 pds in 9 weeks! That's fabbbbbbuuuuullllloooouuuussssss! You are looking great. I say keep doing what you are doing! Thanks so much for sharing!
  21. Thanks for your post. I am feeling a lot better, Im sure due to inhalers I take on a daily basis and from not smoking. I was headed toward death if I continued to smoke. I know symptoms of COPD improve when you quit smoking, but the disease does not go away. I've been symptom free for months!
  22. I wish you the best of luck. Lots of great ideas and suggestions. Most of the time when people have fear about this surgery, they just need more education. I'm sure it's very scary to him. He needs education and needs to be a part of the process, in my opinion. Keep us updated!

Please Help Me Wrap My Head Around This...

I'm just a week post-op. I was always small (4,6,8). It's been in the last 15 years that I have gained weight. I'm 5'3". Highest weight 263, I think. I never really think of myself as being fat until I'm hit in the face with it. Huffing and puffing, tying shoes, people looking at me and most of all when I see a photo of myself. I literally have a hard time believing that photo is of me. Very strange and sad. Congrats on your weight loss.
  25. I admit, while on pre-op diet, I had Mexican a few days before surgery. I ate less than half my plate. I am 5 days post op today. My body feels better since no junk has entered my mouth. Yesterday, I had 1/4 c Refried beans, a tablespoon tomato sauce, I cube laughing cow cheese and tsp sour cream. Melted in microwave. Talk about good! You will still be able to eat, good choices and right quantities. Good luck to you!
