  1. No guilt! But I'll never not love my occasional peanut butter and jelly sandwich. And I probably eat way too much frozen yogurt, but it's got protein in it, lol. Sometimes that's what gets me over the edge to goal at night.

    Condensed Protein Shake

It should be okay as long as the resulting texture falls into the range your surgeon gave you for this stage. I could only tolerate the nectar Protein that early by dipping a wet spoon in it like pixie stick sugar. The fluids are really more important than the protein this early out though - as long as you're getting enough down that's the big thing. I'm impressed too, that you can get that much Fluid in. I'm 6 months out and sometimes I still struggle to get 64! Congratulations on making it to the other side.

    Anyone try new Fairlife milk?

I love it - those extra 5 grams are a huge help when you're counting every gram of protein! Doesn't taste any different than regular milk to me.

Is it CHEATING or is it a CHOICE?

I've never cheated, not once. Oh, that doesn't mean I eat perfectly! I just feel like there's some room for flexibility in our plans as long as we're getting what we need and staying within the range that we're succeeding at. Since my plan is one I can live with, I don't HAVE to cheat
  5. A spoon full of espresso powder and a squirt of caramel Folgers Flavors in some Nectar cappuccino is actually pretty darn good on ice.

That's going on my list! I love anything pineapple :)

Another favorite when I'm in the mood for something chocolate/mocha (chocolate's not a huge draw for me), is to mix about 10 oz. skim milk, 1 serving of the Unjury Vanilla, 1 serving Chocolate Splendor, and 4-6 ozs. cold/room temp coffee, shake well, drink chilled or over ice.

I absolutely agree, the cappuccino nectar is technically bareable, but with the addition of espresso powder it's pretty darned good.

  6. Went to Charm City Run for new shoes. Left with shoes and 8 weeks of training for the Baltimore Women's Classic. Can't be trusted in the store, lol.

  7. There have been a couple of instances where I've tried something too spicy or dry and HAD to get a drink to get it down, but I stick to small sips. I'm honestly not all that worried about it flushing the food through too fast, but it'll make everything come right back up. That's no fun!
  8. Hit and run driver nailed my new car the day my first payment cleared, and now it hurts to exercise :(.

Thanks, all! I've been medicated and offline. Feeling much better now, though - still going to have some back pain for a while, but thankful that it wasn't worse. Back at it! :)

    Lunch help!

Soft fish was allowed during my puree phase, but a lot of docs have different opinions - do you have access to a nutritionist you can contact to confirm? Thai food isn't super popular where I am, so I have no idea what might be good on the menu - I hope you find something tasty and safe!
  10. Here's hoping for a night without riots. I still love you, Baltimore, but this sucks.

don't know what this world is coming to - its terrible - i have 3 young grand--kids hope they find a new better world - don't know if that's gonna happen kathy

  11. Sometimes I get a runny nose and / or hiccups as a full signal. The doc looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about it, but it seems like too many people get it to be a coincidence. But hey, at least I don't have to fully rely on my greedy and somewhat unreliable tummy anymore
  12. I eat the baked ricotta now, on regular foods - it's good! Made me violently ill on purees though, which sucked. You know when you have that taste in your mouth for something, how disappointing it is when it doesn't work out? Anywho, I tended to go for the same things a lot on purees. Pureed ground beef and green Beans (a couple of times I mashed a hunk of potato in there with it for texture), and pureed chicken with a squirt of lime juice were my two standby's. Mashed beans went down well, too. Good luck, and congratulations! I eat the baked ricotta now, on regular foods - it's good! Made me violently ill on purees though, which sucked. 13. My friend, it's a HUGE commitment and a major life change - if you didn't have moments of second thoughts, I'd worry about you! And everything seems so much more difficult when you're hungry. What I CAN tell you is that, statistically speaking, there's a REALLY good chance everything is going to be just fine. All those feelings you've got now are normal. Yesterday I read a story about an agoraphobic woman who left her house for the first time in 10 years and fell in a sinkhole - no joke! The truth is, I kind of went into surgery feeling like that would be me. I'd finally try something drastic to take control, and be the anomaly that ends up with complications or bigger than I started. Neither thing happened, and other than 3 weeks of a nagging pain in my right side and a monster case of what felt like morbid constipation, it all turned out alright. I have two regrets - getting myself in the position of NEEDING surgery, and waiting so damn long to do it. I wish you had someone to go with you. Heck, if I had two nickels to rub together right now and some time off work, I'D go, lol. But if you can get past the jitters and go for it anyway, I think you're going to be really happy that you did!
  14. Do you count / track the calories in your vitamins and supplements?

    1. IcanMakeit

      IcanMakeit

No. I started out doing that and then decided it was not really necessary since I only use sugar free.

    2. Zoey716

      Zoey716

I only track that I take them so I don't forget to take them. However, I do not track them for calorie purposes. I don't think it's that necessary.

    3. roundisashape

      roundisashape

Thanks, all - I'm debating on whether to keep counting them or not. The vitamins, fish oil, fiber gummies and calcium chews add up to 83 calories. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a big chunk of a low calorie day.

    Are flinstones Vitamins Ok?

I use the "complete" and was told to take 2
  16. roundisashape

When did you start to feel hunger?

At just a few weeks. It's not the all-consuming, insatiable hunger I felt before surgery though - and it's not necessarily a bad thing if your body lets you know your tank is empty! OTOH, sometimes thirst and acid can mimic hunger. If I feel unusual hunger, I'll sometimes pop a Tums (in case it's breakthrough acid - I'm on a PPI too, but it won't hurt anything) and drink a glass of Water to see if that takes care of it before I eat off schedule.

    I want salad please!

As soon as I was transitioned to "regular" food, I was told I could try it - but like everything else, to try one component at a time and don't eat it again for a while if it doesn't work the first time. I've had no issues with it, and eat salad almost every day...mostly out of laziness, because I live alone and dirtying a pot to cook enough veggies for just me seems pointless

Very dry face almost like eczema

Hormonal, I wonder? I had a super oily face pre-op and was worried that it would get even worse. Surprisingly, it went the other way and my face has gotten very dry (I need moisturizer 2-3x/day).

    Favorite Beauty Products?

I subscribe to Ipsy, and last month I got a sample of Dr. Brandt Pores-no-more anti-aging mattifying lotion. My skin has swung from super oily to dry but still breaking out and kind of crepey since surgery. This stuff is fantastic. I just wish I could afford the full sized one!

You know you lost weight when

@@XXShelXX, I love that! Ok, got one: you know that feeling you get in your lungs when you do an unusual amount of cardio? Where you feel like they're kind of...stretched? I've been getting that feeling for the last 10 pounds or so without doing more exercise. It's like my lungs finally have enough room to fully expand and I'm getting air in places that didn't get enough before.

When you can wear a pair of flats without the "balloon effect"
  22. Little things can make a huge difference! Protein shakes are much more drinkable over ice.

    1. roundisashape

      roundisashape

The coffee and the pineapple extract both sound delicious - thanks! Have either of you seen the new Fairlife milk? It's got more protein in it than regular milk (13 g for 1 cup vs 8 g). I've been drinking more of that, too. Most of my protein comes from food now, but some days it's just harder to meet that goal than others!

    2. MrsSugarbabe

      MrsSugarbabe

I haven't seen the Fairlife milk yet. Will have to look for it. Does it taste like skim milk?

If you haven't already learned this (I had to ask), you can make up your Unjury shake and drink it the next day. I've found this very helpful from a morning time-saving standpoint. Also, I think the shakes taste better when allowed to "bloom" for a while. So many brands of powder say you should drink it immediately.

    3. roundisashape

      roundisashape

It does - I can't tell the difference at all. It's supposed to be the way it's processed that causes it to have less sugar and more protein, but I don't have any clue what's involved :)

    Fruit....

Yep - in fact, my doc just suggested I add more for the Fiber and potassium. It hasn't had any negative impact thus far. There might be sugar in fruit, but the calories are still a lot lower than a Peanut Butter cup!

    Gazelle

Lol! Yeah, I actually saw it in a Fingerhut book. So it sounds like a big NO then . I wish I could afford a NuStep.

Anyone have one? What do you think of it? Would you recommend it? It looks like fun, but I don't want to waste money on something that isn't going to be a good investment. Thanks!
