Hi everyone - It has been a while since I have checked in and it is great to see some new names and to still see some old ones - Lissa, Kelli, Misty ... sorry if I have missed others.
I am coming up to two years and had my annual visit to my surgeon last week. I am pleased to say that I am still maintaining around 60kg - I have been as low as 58 but as high as 61 (start weight 103kg - 167cm tall). I must admit that I was a bit disappointed that I was 2kg heavier than I was last time I weighed in at the surgeons but I think I was a being a bit neurotic! I keep thinking that is the best dream I have ever had and I am going to wake up and find it isn't real!
I don't always make the best choices when it comes to food and my commitment to exercise has been minimal (at best!). I guess the operation didn't promise to make me a perfect human being!
The things I love about my life now are:
People seeing me ( I am not invisible anymore)
I want to see people and meet new people!
    My increased confidence
    My new calmness
    My new wardrobe
    My new agility
How food just doesn't mean that much to me anymore
The weight off my shoulders (figuratively and literally!)
    My knees aren't sore anymore
    I don't snore (as much!)
    I feel younger
    I feel more feminine
    I am healthier
The funny adjustments that I went through during the journey :
Not being able to see that I had lost weight when I looked in the mirror
The shock of feeling my bones under my skin
The thrill of being able to cross my legs and how my limbs felt very long
The seat on a plane feeling really roomy
    Not being recognised
The down side (nothing I would ever trade for my weightloss!):
    Still have to take Nexium
Still on an Iron supplement (but I think this is more stage of life related rather than weight loss related)
The hair loss ( but that does grow back)
The extra wrinkles and a bit of loose skin (I am very lucky that this is minimal)

Thanks! I am back at my lowest weight and slowly inching down. Size 8 jeans in Australia sizes so size 4 US. Size 10C bra! Who would have thought? I started at a 20DD and should have probably been an E! About 3 kg from ultimate dream goal.

Wow, what a fabulous and supportive online community.
I'm 28 and live in Brisbane. I am booked in at Greenslopes hospital on 11th April with Dr Hatzifotis. It's been a bit of a whirl wind as I only had my initial consultation with him 2 weeks ago (a good whirl wind).
My younger sister is getting married in November and it just happens that the three other bridesmaids are possibly the smallest framed girls in Australia.. Along with my size 8 bride-to-be sister.
I am determined to not look too out of place in the wedding photos.
I have loved reading your journeys and appreciate you all being so upfront and honest. I'm sure I will be able to do that eventually.
Looking forward to chatting and sharing my journey

Soontobesleeved reacted to Dr-Patient in I had my medical clearance today and was shocked at what the Nurse Practitioner said to me...
Maybe she was just saying that to make sure you are fully informed, but it sounds like she didn't have to be so negative. Maybe tell her boss/your doctor to help her with her bedside manner/communication style. But, hey; listen; maybe you're like me:
Right now, I am so tired of being 'clinically obese.' I'm tired of being in the 200s. I'm tired of people (now) saying, "Well you still have a pretty face."
Right now, I need to see the weight come off...now. I want to get back to 'me.' I want to be confortable/confident in my clothes, and be happy when I look in the mirror...now. I want to walk in a room and not look to see if I am the fattest woman in the room. I want to be in photos again; life is passing.
I want a break from feeling bad about myself and how I look. I'm tired of hiding socially. I want to return to my body matching my 'pretty' face and my 'great' personaility that has been under a rock for far too many years. I want to finally embrace the woman people told me I was years ago, but I never saw it [long story]. But I'm ready to fully embrace it and losing this weight is a part of that process...and I'm doing it for me. My VSG was Dec. 4th; 32 pounds gone so far, despite annoying stalls, so I'm moving forward and trying to hang in here. I AM hanging in here. (Btw, this site is helpful.)
So I said that to say this: I am not going to worry about what might happen 2-3 years from now. If I gain some weight back then, I'll deal with it then. Hopefully I won't gain it all back, which I shouldn't if I stay on (or periodically return to) the basics.
But right now...I'm in the process of my change for the better and I'm enjoying that now. I'll deal with 2-3 years later...in 2-3 years. I'd say think about your needs...right now. Just my thoughts.

For me was only one day.. My recovery was pretty fast. I was walking by the end of the day. The staff was great, overall I had a wonderful experience at the hospital. I'm two weeks post-op & I'm down 8lbs I can drink more Water I also take my Protein Shakes daily. The best part is that I have NO pain!! Yay! LOTS & lots of Vitamins BUT it's worth it all. So don't be nervous.. Best of luck to you & everyone else on their journey

Hey Charlieblue - I got super nervous this weekend too! Someone asked me about pain relief post op and I hadn't even thought about it!! I also got on the scales after a week of Optifast and had lost 4.5kgs... and then I thought maybe I can just do that instead of surgery. But I had a reality check after putting away the groceries and remembered how easy it is to just give in to old habits.
Would be great for all of us February 3 sleeves to keep updated on progress post op!!

Kaz. Mine all happened fairly quickly once I made up my mind and I am so glad the waiting time did not drag on. For me it was the sooner the better and I am so glad I had this surgery.

Welcome Kaz!!! My niece's mum has been done by Dr Greenslade. She had a bypass 20 odd years ago and he just reverted it to a sleeve. I've heard lots of good things about Justin Greenslade. When I went for my appointment with my dr I googled questions to ask lol. But my Dr asked them before I asked haha. As Kelliv and Merry said, ask about pre op and post op regimes.
I'm on the southside at Mount Gravatt so if u want to meet up and have a chat that's good with me
Good luck on Monday and let us know how u go
