ShayLove, I definitely understand your frustration!! My paperwork was submitted on 11/28, and I didn't get my approval until 12/18!! Meanwhile everyone else I spoke to got approvals within a week!! I was told that the faxes sent were unreadable, they got the paperwork but had not assigned it to a nurse yet, and every other excuse!! I was then told by Aetna that approvals for elective surgeries are not considered 'high priority'! Best bet is to keep calling, and be sure to call BOTH SIDES...meaning the insurance as well as the surgeon, to assure that NOTHING is delaying the process! At least if you can get a status about things, it helps you keep your sanity while you're waiting...please let me know how things go!

Even though I'm happy you finally got your approval I pray that mine don't take that long. Whew... That was almost a month.

Typo sorry... My insurance company told me they never received any paperwork from the hospital asking for an authorization. When I called the hospital back they said they need to see if I have insurance coverage for 2014 so they will call back today to find out and submit my paperwork.
My insurance company told me they never received any paperwork from the hospital asking for an authorization. When I called the hospital bed I was too when he tried to check to see if I had insurance coverage for 2014 they couldn't prove it so to hit call back today to find out.
Wait I'm confused. Your insurance got the green light from the hospital, but the hospital did not get the green light from the insurance? How does that work. FYI, I have group health... So my hospital I my insurance... I don't understand much about insurance...So, those of you who are still waiting, or newly approved. What sorta things are you doing to make sure you don't go crazy during this time of limbo? I want to call the office and see if they approved me.. Much like I would call an office to see if I got the job. :/ I haven't started yet. But I'm one tap away from it. Any advice for the anxious? -Dylan
I am driving myself crazy. I called the insurance company and I was told they have received my authorization request from the hospital. I called the hospital and I was so that they didn't verify my insurance for 2014 so they would resubmit the authorization to the insurance company on tomorrow. This is so frustrating...

Hello Ga. Peaches!!! I am now on the loser bench. I was sleeved on the 17. I must be honest and say the pain was so bad and still is that I was starting to regret I had done this to myself. I've had two c sections and the sleeve was worst. On the pre op I had lost 15 pounds, which was GOOD I cheated a little on that. I would have one small salad with chicken and light dressing from chick fil a, but still had my Protein Shake twice a day. For those that are still waiting to get sleeved, walking does help move the gas out. You may only burp instead of passing gas, so brace yourself when you burp because even that small burp is going to hurt. Everyone is different but this is major surgery so there will be pain. Don't go in thinking I'm going to bounce back once I wake up in recovery.
Good luck!!!
Thanks Peaches for the advice. Congrats as well!

Mine was sent to bcbs on Monday as well. When I call I have been told that it haven't been received as of yet. Now this is frustrating.
I am in the same boat. I am patiently waiting for my approval. I have BCBS of MD and they cover 100% until 2014 then we will have a $1500 deductible. Hoping to get approved and sleeved before.I too am waiting for approval. Mine was sent off on Monday and they told me it was 3-4 day working day turn around. I have Cigna HMO and they cover 100% if you do what they ask and I have, but still nervous that they will not appove it. I have to have mine by the end of this year because insurance is not going to cover it next year. I am making myself sick worrying about it.

It's been two days for me also. Everyone been telling me I'm not big but maybe I carry it well. I'm 276 and only 5'6, I think that's pretty big knowing in only pounds away from 300. I've been told not to do it by many but this is what I want.

Thank you so much! I can only pray mine won't take long this time of year. I'm soooo excited about change.

I've completed everything required. I wanted to be sleeved before the year was over but hoping it will be done in January. Hopefully, I will be approved and receive a date before the year ends.

Congrats on your upcoming date!I'm in Forest Park. I haven't been sleeved yet. My last group appointment is this Wednesday and I should get my clearance from the doctor so my paperwork can be submitted to insurance company. I was told I could be sleeved before the month is out or the first of January.

I don't have any serious health issues other than borderline diabetes and morbid obesity. I'm afraid my insurance company may turn me down being that I have no serious health issues. Anyone ever been through any problems like this!

I'm not sure when my surgery will be but I know it's approaching very soon. I'm trying to get everything in order now. Being that I live alone I want to know how long will I need the help of others before I can get around on my own?
