Looks like Imma need a rant post....I had to do the 6 month program at Kaiser and get down to my 6th and final appointment where we submit my paperwork and to find out...my nut went into labor, with no coverage and I cant go to another surrounding facility because she covers all 3 in my general area...Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Harford County. </p> <p> </p> <p>They told me, we don't know what the plan is now. you may have to wait for us to hire another nut or for her return...why didnt they have back up, she was obviously very pregnant but with this surgery, you will see they dont have the same respect for our plight. </p> <p> </p> <p>My only option is to sit and wait quietly and patiently or go to Capitol Hill, D.C. to another Kaiser facility. Ummmm, do I need to say which I chose???? Hey I never been to D.C. on foot...lmao, I took the day off to make a day of it...</p> <p> </p> <p>#endofrant#</p>

I think I remember you having BCBS of AL; is that correct? How long did it take to get your approval after your paperwork was submitted? My paperwork was submitted yesterday.

I received a voicemail today from Bariatric center and the lady stated they reviewed my medical policy and they see the surgery is covered so the will proceed with submitting my paperwork to the insurance company

Omgness, I'm following this thread hoping to see Shay get the call that changes her life and I'm waiting patiently for your update lady...fingers crossed for u!!!

Shay.. Why is the hospital submitting your paper work and supposedly working with your insurance company? Why isn't your bariatric doctors doing this? Confused

I was told by the hospital on Friday that my insurance won't cover the sleeve and I would would have to choose between the band and bypass. As soon as I hung up from them I called the insurance company and they told me the sleeve is covered and that they have no notes where anyone had contacted them about me. I then called the hospital back and the lady said she will have them contact my insurance company. Not sure what's going in but this is stressing me.

Can you go over to the hospital in person? So you can talk to a SUPERVISOR?!?! I forgot to tell you the last time and I hope you are doing that ----> asking for the persons you have talk to all this time?!?! This way you tell the supervisor who is been handling your case! This is horrible!!! I can feel your stress and I'm not going thru this!! I'm sorry you have to deal with somebody soooooo incompetent!!!! Good luck and keep us updated!!! That's exactly what I want to know. I've called twice today already. They need to make a move fast.

Just called hospital and found out they have not submitted my paperwork to the insurance company. I don't understand it though because if they had it ready for December how much changing would they have to do for January or February? This is a very stressful process.

Submitted on Monday & APPROVED today(Thursday)! That is with Christmas in the middle!! Yay! I can't believe it went this fast! Yay Anthem!

Congrats! I was told today they couldn't verify my insurance for 2014 until January 1st. The system is only showing eligible until 12/31/2013 so I won't be approved until January and looking forward to surgery close til the end of January or early February

Thanks Everyone! I had my gallbladder removed last year and need help only when it came down to lifting something do to my stitches. I'm hoping its similar to that.
