  5. Well I was always chubby but not obese as a child the way you see some kids these days. I liked to eat, I was born a 10 pound baby in 1982 ???????????? my dad had to supply extra boxes of formula for me way more often than when my sisters were babies ???????????????? When I was in the 8th grade I went on my first "diet" where I cut my portions a bit and went jogging with my cousins and uncle from time to time. My uncle loved to run so he forced us to do it -- literally ????????????he chased us (my cousins and sisters) with twigs in the park. Kinda scary for a kid but it really did work and kept us moving, he never hit us if we took breaks or stopped but it is still a fond albeit scary childhood memory. He's still my very fave uncle to date and I'm 32 years old now. I'm not a runner but he still is at 58 years old ???????????? Soooo throughout high school I was always chubby and hated gym class or anything fitness related ????????I was bigger than my girlfriends by far. I ate 90% homemade foods by my mom which I think kept me from obesity but still I remained overweight ..my mom was and still is a phenomenal home cook and baker. I like to bake but I am no cook ???? The stressors of working full time after college and paying bills then marrying an idiot and attending grad school part time led me to comfort foods to numb the pain and stress which resolved nothing but led me to my all time highest of 293 (I'm just under 5'8" tall) In high school I wore mostly size 12-14 maybe a 16 at some point .....but at 293 I was squeezing into size 24 jeans from Lane Bryant ???????????????????? I divorced the idiot and took a year off of grad school to focus on my health and wellness ...lost over 95 pounds within 15 months but gained over 60 back due to emotional eating and various life stressors. Enough was enough so at 260 I sought wls. I had surgery at about 240 lbs on dec 12 2013. I fluctuate 163-167 these days but would like to see 155-160. I workout regularly now and enjoy yoga, Pilates, barre and spin classes, anything low impact effective and fun really.????????

    Thanksgiving depression

    It was tough for me last year as I was sleeved on dec 12. I even baked several sweet desserts and couldn't even have a bite of anything. I remember rubbing Vicks vapor rub on my nose to block out aromas and that helped quite a bit. I'm glad I enjoyed a full thanksgiving last year before surgery. Can't really consume much even at almost 1 year out now, but at least I can taste a bit here and there
  7. I'm 11.5 months out and my sleeve doesn't like jerky, I miss it so much and ate turkey jerky often prior to being sleeved ????
  8. Hi and thank you!! Just remember this wls thing is a journey and you will certainly have ups and downs. I'd love to lose another 10 but I'm happy with my progress. I do my best to stay hydrated and get adequate Vitamins Protein rest and exercise. My fitness faves are yoga, Pilates, barre3 and spin classes. It's important To build lean muscle to minimize loose skin issues and burn fat even at rest. I do need to cut back on simple carbs like Cookies crackers and chips ???? Good luck!

    Good luck,this journey is unpredictable but so worth it! My confidence and energy are through the roof and there was a very long period in my young adult life when I couldn't say that. I may not be able to tolerate or consume a full traditional plate of my favorite meal but I am very happy with how far I've come and I never want to go back to the old unhappy me.

    Yes yes ???????????????????????????? found them at my local ShopRite grocery store, I only recently became aware of pumpkin spice Oreos via Instagram when I posted about my chobani pumpkin spice Greek yogurt and someone crushed one pumpkin Oreo in their container ???????????????? They make cookie dough as well but can't seem to find those ???????????? that's a good thing tho

    Like many others my mini meals are pretty much Snacks too ???????? I eat every 1-2 hours something very small and I try to keep it Protein packed: My sleeve doesn't like jerky which makes me sad, I loved it prior to wls ???? Pumpkin seeds raw or sunflower or pistachios Honey roasted almond slices from trader joes Laughing cow cheese wedges in light Greek yogurt low fat with flax meal - I ❤️chobani: pumpkin spice, apple cinnamon, oats, black cherry, apricot Dried apricot, dried apples Lean seafood, chicken, turkey, pork, beef ---- chewed super slowly in small portions "food should taste good" tortilla chips in sweet potato (I'm on a hunt for the pumpkin flavored ones ????) Oven baked ruffles Protein bars: think thin in creamy (not chunky) Peanut Butter, Premier Protein crisp, balance bar in mint, Power crunch Lenny & Larry Vegan protein Cookies from Vitamin shoppe ???????????????? very addictive high carb but good protein (double chocolate & lemon poppy????) Yasso frozen Greek yogurt bars Protein shakes: premier protein chocolate mixed with unsweetened almond milk and powdered peanut butter Sauteed roasted or steamed veggies Soups and stews Drinks: Water, all types of teas ...green, white, oolong, chai, black, flavored non flavored , herbal ????☺️????(I never drink soda or juice and alcohol, rarely have coffee) Guilty pleasure: Pumpkin spice & peanut butter Oreos ????????????"hello, my name is sandi and I'm a Cookie Monster"

    I like power crunch cause they are pretty low in carbs and taste good but they are messy much messier than think thin and premier protein crisp bars. Peanut butter, choco mint also wild berry are deeeelish

    ***** I wouldn't say it's a race issue but maybe in some cases it can be a socio economic issue when it comes to affording healthier whole foods and gym memberships or follow up healthcare I'm AA and 11+ months out with great results even better than some others races I've met in my in person and online bariatric groups

    **** I learned the hard way about how important it is to NOT eat at least 1-2 hours before yoga ???????????????????? almost threw up after getting in and out of wheel pose ???? #NeverAgain

    ******** I lost a lot of muscle early on too due to a lot of pain with surprise hiatal hernia repair which made it hard to drink anything. I'm 11 months out now and feeling better than ever although I am anemic post op and need a second round of 5 Iron infusions I workout at least 7x a week mostly group fitness classes: spin????????????????????, hot yoga ????????☺️, power yoga ????, Pilates, barre, and sometimes Zumba ????and kickboxing ????but I mostly ❤️ yoga, Pilates and spin because they are all low impact???? 293 heaviest Surgery ~240 on 12.12.13 Current 163-168 Old goal: 175✔️ New goal: 155-160 ???? 5'7" If I can do it ANYONE can ????????

    How long did it take you to reach goal?

    I was a fairly light weight at 240 on day of surgery 12.12.13, 5'7" Got to my initial goal of 175 by 4.5 months out (end of April 2014) Current goal is to reach and maintain 155-160 I currently fluctuate 163ish to 167 at 11 months out Heaviest weight 293 back in 2009-2010 (too scared and uneducated about wls at that time) Simple carbs go down super easy and are hard to resist so yes it's a challenge to maintain despite my pretty significant commitment to fitness: power yoga, Pilates, hot yoga, barre and spin classes ????☺️????????????????☺️???? My sleeve allowed me to eat SIX Oreo Cookies last night (3 pumpkin spice, 3 peanut butter) within less than 5 minutes and I could have gone further but wanted to leave room for my moms homemade turkey stew ☺️???? Takes me forever to eat lean Protein such as turkey and chicken and I have to chew super duper slowly, ugh lol #vsgProblems ????
